REGARDLESS OF WHETHER IT’S FOR THE TRANSPORT OF OIL AND GAS OR FOR USE AS AN ELEMENT OF CONSTRUCTION, OUR PIPELINE STEEL HAS BEEN SETTING STANDARDS IN QUALITY, DURABILITY, AND INGENUITY FOR DECADES. FURTHERMORE, OUR CLIENT-FOCUSED, COLLABORA TIVE APPROACH AND INNOVATIVE LABORATORY TESTING FACILITIES ALLOW US TO DEVELOP EXACTLY THE RIGHT PRODUCT YOU NEED – REGARDLESS OF HOW COMPLEX YOUR CHALLENGE MAY BE.
TURNING CHALLENGES INTO OPPORTUNITIES
Transporting oil and gas has its very own challenges. However, we see these challenges as opportunities – for us and for our clients. Since oil and gas are integral in keeping a fast-moving world functioning, our products can help to ensure that the oil and gas keeps flowing.
ThyssenKrupp Steel Europe pipeline steel is manufactured to the highest possible standards, ensuring that pipelines constructed to transport oil and gas are not only resilient and long-lasting, but also able to withstand the most extreme environmental pressures. This means that you can profit from a product that is exceptionally flexible in application and can be adapted to suit the widest varieties in terrain and temperature, as well as mechanical pressure.
Our client-focused, collaborative approach also allows us to work in concert with you to develop a product that is individually tailored to your specific needs. Thanks to our innovative, industry-leading laboratories, we are in a unique position to create a grade of steel based upon your parameters and comprehensively test it to deter-mine suitability and flexibility in application. This means that we can consider the challenges your project will face even before construction begins – and turn them into tailored solutions.

Our longstanding experience in pipeline steel has shown us that true innovation and superior quality come from research and constant development. That’s why we have made substantial investments in our laboratory testing and development facilities. Building upon the ingenuity of our engineers and technicians, we are able to develop new grades of steel to meet ever changing demands in a variety of industry sectors. In addition to that, our welding laboratory testing processing and our corrosion lab testing resistance to hydrogen corrosion clearly show just how innovative our wide range of solutions and services can be for our clients.
ThyssenKrupp Steel Europe’s testing and research facilities were specifically designed to give us almost unlimited flexibility when developing solutions for our clients. We are able to simulate entire production processes on a pilot line to work out what methods are necessary to fulfill individual requirements. We can also chemically analyze composition or even go down to micro scopic levels of detail with an electron microscope. A wide range of testing equipment is also available to determine mechanical properties.

Our business is steel. But we wouldn’t be able to consis-tently deliver the highest quality if it weren’t for another raw material: our people. Everyone from your contact in sales to the scientists in the laboratory and our technical customer service team are passionate about delivering innovative, tailor-made solutions. By investing in and nurturing our staff, we can ensure that our clients can benefit from the most innovative services and solutions.
TURNING PASSION INTO HIGH-QUALITY PRODUCTS
This people- and client-focused approach is strengthened by ourstate-of-the-art facilities in Duisburg and Bochum, where two fullyautomated hot strip mills deliver the highest-quality strip for the production of longitudinally and helically welded large diameter pipes. Recent investments in the hot strip mills, such as the modernization of the crop shear, the installation of an intensive cooling section, and of hydraulic heavy-gauge coilers in Duisburg show just how serious we are about securing the future by inves- ting in our pipeline steel business.
THESE TECHNOLOGIES AND OUR PASSION FOR INNO-VATION ALLOW US TO DELIVER INDIVIDUALLY TAILORED SOLUTIONS TO OUR CLIENTS BASED EVEN UPON THE MOST COMPLEX DEMANDS AND PARAMETERS. SIMPLY PUT: THAT’S WHAT WE CALL PROGRESS.
Whatever grade of pipeline steel you’re looking for, we can offer the entire spectrum – from steel for the production of API 5L pipes to EN 10208-2 and ISO 3183 pipes. And on top of high-quality products, our tailor-made services and innovative testing facilities will accompany you through every stage of developing and implementing your project. Because your success is ours.

GENERAL REMARK
All statements about the state or usability of materials or products are
for illustration purposes only. Commitments in relation to the existence
of certain characteristics or specific applications always require special
written agreement.
In standards such as the API 5L or EN 10208-2, for example, the in-
dividual mechanical characteristics are defined at the pipe. As a result
of the corresponding forming process, the mechanical characteristics of
hot strip in relation to finished pipe can sub stantially differ, depending
upon grade and pipe dimension.
Before an order is taken, mechanical characteristics for individual hot
strip specifications are bilaterally agreed with the client. The possibility
of providing a representative trial lot allows for further optimization of
the hot strip.
