Sramek's mother reported her missing to the Hitchcock County Sheriff’s Office on April 21. She was last seen riding in a 2004 White Ford Explorer bearing Iowa license plate HGJ-341. According to the FBI, there have been no reported sightings or contact with Sramek since her disappearance. Sramek is described as a Caucasian female with brown hair and blue eyes. She is 5 feet 8 inches and weighs 183 lbs. The FBI is asking anyone with information regarding Sramek to contact the Omaha Division of the FBI at (402) 493-8688 immediately. JOB OPENINGS Parker Hannifin says it is growing business at the McCook plant, and that’s good news for the more than 200 current employees — and for the community. New product lines initially will support the automotive market, and more profitable products are being planned for manufacturing here in the coming months, according to a news release from the company. Yarn reinforced hose, previ- ously manufactured at Parker’s facilities in Manhattan, Kansas, and Red Oak, Iowa, will be made in McCook. McCook also will be transferring products and processes from a plant in Kennett, Mis- souri, that will be closing this fall. The 92 employees there have the option to relocate to work at other plants, including McCook. “Bringing some of the Kennett folks here will grow McCook,” said Justin Hoeke, plant manager. “There will be morechildren in the schools, more customers for local businesses, and more folks to con- tribute to the community.” With an increase in business and about 90 employees who are slated to retire in the next three to five years, Parker will have several job openings. They will be recruit- ing heavily over the next two years, Hoeke said. The first big wave of hiring will occur in October to get folks trained and ready for full production of its new lines in February. Hoeke, who grew up in Brady, Neb., appreciates the current and former McCook employees who have made the plant what it is, and for the com- munity’s support of Parker Hannifin and its predecessors over nearly five decades. VETERANS’ TOWN HALL The Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care System senior leader- ship will hold a Veterans’ Town Hall beginning at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 17, at the United Veterans Club’s North Room in Grand Island, Nebraska. The United Veterans Club is located at 1914 West Capital Avenue in Grand Island. Among the topics to be discussed are the implementation of the VA’s new Mission Act, an infrastructure update on VA NWI’s various hospitals and clinics, the organization’s ongoing whole health initiatives and its newly implemented Veterans Transportation Service. The VA town hall is designed to promote open and honest feedback from Veterans, their family members and other beneficiaries. SPORTS Tommy Henry limited Florida State to three hits, and

Jesse Franklin’s first-inning home run stood up in Michi-

gan’s 2-0 win at the College World Series on Monday

night. The Wolverines (48-20) took control of Bracket 1 in

their first CWS appearance since 1984 and need one more

win Friday to reach the best-of-three finals next week.

Henry (11-5) was efficient in his second shutout of the

season and Michigan’s ninth. The junior left-hander threw

100 pitches, including 24 first-pitch strikes against the 32

batters he faced, struck out 10 and walked none. He went

to three-ball counts just twice, both times in the first in-

ning. The Wolverines are 2-0 in a CWS for the first time in

six appearances since 1962.

Nebraska-Kearney men's basketball coach Kevin Lofton

announced that New Zealand native Matt Brien will play

for the Lopers this season. The 6-4, 200 pound guard is

UNK's fourth recruit to date, joining Wahoo High's

Winston Cook and junior college transfers RJ Pair (Garden

City C.C., Kan.) and Jake Walker (Snow College, Utah).

Brien has four years of eligibility remaining and will be

older than most incoming American freshman. He spent

this past season at OnPoint Academy, a prep school in El

Reno, Okla., and the normal five years in high school in

his native land.
