Correction Last week’s bulletin contained an item concerning our local St. Gianna Center which provides support to needy single mothers and young families in the first years of life. Please note that we should have stated that the center is located on the grounds of St. Hedwig Church (not St. Hyacinth Church) and is the building closest to the church building.

Special Collection Next Weekend Our thoughtful donation next weekend will help to restore the Church in Central and Eastern Europe that persevered for so long under communist persecution. The region has special problems. For example, in Romania, nearly 63% of the elderly live below the poverty level due to the collapse of the communist-era pension system. Our faith calls us to serve vulnerable communities. Please do your best.

Soup and Scripture The season of Lent will begin in about 2 weeks. We will again hold the SOUP AND SCRIPTURE series. This year we will use a guide entitled, “Exodus, God to the Rescue.” Sessions will be held in the Rectory Meeting Room beginning on Feb. 25, the Wednesday after Ash Wednesday and will continue through Wednesday of Holy Week. Each session will be preceded by a soup and bread supper starting at 6:25 pm. (no desserts, please). We can accept a maximum of 30 participants. If you wish to participate in this Lenten opportunity, please call the rectory at 366-1750 no later than Feb. 5th so that we can order guide books which will cost $8 per participant.

Date for High School Confirmation High School Juniors with proper preparation will be confirmed this spring at Holy Trinity Church on Tuesday, April 28 at 7 pm. This will be a joint ceremony among St. Elizabeth Seton, Holy Trinity and St. Joseph Parishes. Msgr. David Slubecky, vicar general of the Diocese of Buffalo, will confer the Sacrament.

Annual Catholic Men’s Spring Conference The Annual Men’s Conference is scheduled for Sat., March 21. Speakers include Deacon Allen Tatara from Chicago, Evangelist Mark Price, and Mark Houck, co-founder of “The King’s Men.” The conference will be at Cardinal O’Hara High School, 39 O’Hara Rd., Tonawanda (right off the I-290). You can register online at www.spiritiscalling.org or pick up a brochure and registration form in your parish. The registration fee includes the conference, donuts, coffee, and lunch. The conference theme is “Be Strong and Courageous.”

Get Real, Give Hope. Connect with Catholic Charities online and participate in our “Get Real. Give Hope Challenge” on Facebook during the month of March. You will learn about our programs, and see where your contributions go in a whole new way. Join in the fun daily on Facebook for a chance to win a weekly prize and spread the mission of Catholic Charities. Visit facebook.com/buffalo to learn more. Or go to www.ccwny.org.

Parish Youth Learn to Serve An important focus of this year’s Religious Education Program is faith in action. Our students are not only learning what the Church teaches, but experiencing, hands-on, the call to service. At the end of each

month the classes gather with their catechists into four age-appropriate groups in order to brainstorm ways that they can be of service. To name a few: visits and refreshments at St. Vincent’s Home, Joy Kits for St. Vincent’s, standing at our church doors to greet and assist mass-goers, and providing gloves, hats and canned goods for the Christmas Basket Project. Future projects include Valentine Cards to our nursing Homes and “Love Notes from God” to participants of Meals on Wheels. If you wish to learn more about these groups, you may come and visit anytime. You will find the Religious Education schedule on the parish website.

Save Time and Donate Online! Online Giving is now available for parishioners with WeShare, an easy and convenient way to save time and support the church. Donating is simple, safe, and completely secure. With WeShare, you can set up a recurring weekly or monthly transaction using your checking, savings, or credit card account. You can decide how much to give to any collection and make changes any time, day or night. Plus, you can leave your checkbook at home on Sundays. If you would like to enroll in Online Giving, please visit: https://seasdunkirkny.weshareonline.org/ Or go to our website: www.seasdunkirkny.org and click on the Give Online / WeShare tab.
