SponsorshipWe were over the moon when DarrenBurns agreed to ride our bikes this year;he had seen the effort and time we spentto make reliable machinery, he also likedthe idea of mentoring Wayne Hamilton inhis first year on the Road Racing scene. Tohave a name as big as Darren Burns rideour bikes this year is a great honour for usand a great incentive to Wayne.
Darren BurnsDarren Burns name has been synonymousin the road racing scene for many years. With past achievements such as fourtimes Irish 250 Road Race Champion andthree times podium finisher at the NWand 2003 winner of the 250cc Manx grandprix it is no surprise that he has a strongfollowing and is ranked highly.
After last year’s accident at the NW200,Darren has made steady recovery from hisinjuries and is now rearing to go on theTrack Day Tools machinery. “It’s been atough year, but my fitness is getting backto levels I’m happy with and I’m feelingconfident about going back to racing”. Darren’s wife Amanda agrees, “Racing’sin his blood, I knew he would go back to it.We’re all here to support him and it’s greatto see him fired up. It’s going to be a goodyear.”
Wayne HamiltonWayne certainly caught the attention ofpeople on the short circuit scene last year. With excellent podium finishes atMondello, Dublin and at Scarborough, thesky’s the limit for this young racer. This year will be Wayne’s first year on theRoad Racing scene. “I hope to build on lastyear’s experiences and learn as much as Ican from Darren. The bikes are in greatnick and I can’t wait for the season tobegin”. Working 9-5, studying, trainingand working on the 250cc engine in hisspare time doesn’t leave much time forsocialising but Wayne is keen to excel inhis favourite sport. “I don’t mind putting
the hours in at home, in the workshopbecause I know I’ll benefit in the long run.The race I’m most looking forward to isthe Scarborough Gold cup later thissummer as I’ve had previous good resultsat it.
Tyler HamiltonDespite being out of action at the momentwith his leg in plaster (not motorbike
related), Tyler has hopes to follow in hisbig brothers footsteps and compete in the125cc class in the Clubmans rounds. “I’mreally enjoying the Clubman’s short circuitracing and everyone is friendly; it’s greatthat I’m getting the opportunity to have ago and I’m looking forward to the up-coming races.
