TOTAL CONTROLreleases ALL nutrients, in sync,

New to the U.S.A, Protene® gives you…

up to 120 days

Page 3: Total Control

TWO NEW CONCEPTS INnutrient release and

control

• Patented Chelating and Granulation Methods

• Complex New Protein Source

Puts you in...

Page 4: Total Control

TOTAL CONTROL

Page 5: Total Control

• Current “controlled release” MU & other NPK type fertilizers (higher end) are really controlled release nitrogen

• Most of the nutrients (other than N) are left to the mercy of the environment…NOT controlled

• Predicting the overall nutrient release can be guesswork, dependent on too many variables, too many obstacles

• Most (all) are not chelated or complexed

CURRENT TECHNOLOGIES

Page 6: Total Control

• No significant new technology released formany years

• Current environmental concerns and regulations have instigated this new research

• Older technology will become obsolete, and in some cases, illegal!

• Some states already introducing new laws, NY, CT, MA, NJ, CA among them

SAME OLD, SAME OLD

Page 7: Total Control

THE USUALsuspects

• Coated products (SCU, Polymer coated etc.)

• Combined “homogenous” formulations (pan granulated), all mineral, bridge, all organic)

• “Bridge” blended fertilizers (not homogenous)

• Organic fertilizers – manure, sewerage sludge (bio-solids), hydrolyzed (dried) meals (p & c or pan granulated)

• Ag. Grade mineral fertilizer blends

Page 8: Total Control

Very old technique, but still used in a lot of cheap organic and bridge fertilizers - usually very dusty

Most common method used today - results in layering of the components, meaning no control over the water soluble fractions and minor nutrients like zinc, magnesium, manganese, iron etc.

• All Nutrients, N, P, K + Minors + Protein + Humic & Fulvic acids are controlled

• Nutrients release uniformly, in sync

• Nutrient release controlled by soil microbes• Process allows simultaneous release of mineral

and organic fractions

REAL CONTROLLED RELEASEof everything!

Page 19: Total Control

TECHNOLOGY PATENTS

• Methylene Urea matrixed technology complexed with proteinaceous amino acids (phew!)

• “In-Situ” MU production and re-action being part of the granulation process

• Protene® produces complexed MU ON SITE, “In-Situ” in combinations of proteins, minerals, and minors e.g. Zinc, Iron, Manganese, Magnesium, and organic Iron Humate

Page 20: Total Control

Our granulation process!

Their granulator!

Page 21: Total Control

Lighter Colors are Complexed MU (73%), Soluble Urea, and Ammonium Sulfate (27%) Darker colors are minors, and P & K (actual granule 20-0-5 4% Fe)

The “bonding” locking nutrients in a totally homogeneous granule is Methylene Urea. This process traps ALL nutrients in the granule, and the release is then determined by soil microbes; the release can be up to 120-130 days!

Page 22: Total Control

Water starts the release of the “soluble” fraction, allowing a quick response. The remainder, 73%, can only release as the indigenous soil microbes break down the organically complexed methylene urea compounds

Page 23: Total Control

Granular integrity is maintained throughout the life of the product, and a honey-comb like structure forms, where all nutrients release simultaneously in a controlled pattern

Page 24: Total Control

H2O

Granular integrity keeps nutrients where they need to be

Page 25: Total Control

Protene® will stimulate and mimic plant root exudates, which will in turn stimulate indigenous soil microbes and mycorrhiza

Page 26: Total Control

Page 27: Total Control

WHAT’S SO SPECIALabout Protene® MU?

• Protene® MU is complexed with proteinaceous amino acids

• The partitioning of the Methylene Urea is such that 80%, or the majority of usable nitrogen, is available in the release window

• All other forms of MU has varying availability of nitrogen, and none is close to Protene® MU

methylene urea is methylene urea isn’t it?

Page 28: Total Control

THE ROLE OF ORGANIC AMINO ACIDSas complexing agents

• Proven to be superior complexing and chelating agents

• Amino acids are the “building blocks of protein”, and vital for efficient translocation of nutrients

• Widely studied in agronomy around the globe• Far better than chemical chelates

Page 29: Total Control

COMPLEX

• Metal ion combines with an electron donor, the resulting substance is a complex, or a coordination compound

• (CH3)-N-COO-metal

Page 30: Total Control

CHELATE• Donor atoms are attached not only to the metal,

but also to each other

Page 31: Total Control

SO WHY IS PROTENE®

TECHNOLOGYbetter for turf?

• Turf “recognizes” the complexed nutrients much more readily

• Nutrients will trans-locate from the soil and within the turf much more efficiently

• Nutrients will release over 120-130 days!

• The result is MORE nutrients in the turf…saving you money, and putting you in…

ARE YOU SENSINGan opportunity?

• One application lasting up to 4 months!• All (not just the N) nutrients releasing over a

120 day period• Perfect for parks and rec., or school districts

wanting safety and value!• In golf, where budges are shrinking, this will

represent real value• For LCO’s an opportunity to become the nutrient

expert in his area.

Page 41: Total Control

LET’S REVIEWthe role of soil microbes and organic nutrients

• Efficient nutrient transfer occurs in biologically active soil

• Nutrients, trace elements, and minerals are solubilized and trans-located by soil microbes

• Protene® fertilizers stimulate and feed these indigenous soil microbes!

Page 42: Total Control

Does adding non-indigenous bacteria to soil or fertilizer have a beneficial effect on soil biology, plant physiology, or fertilizer efficiency?

Page 43: Total Control

LET’S DO THE NUMBERS

Dr. David Bezdicek

from Washington State University

says that moderately healthy soil

contains 10,100,000,000

(10.1 billion) soil microbes PER GRAM (.035

ounce) of SOIL

Cambridge University claims that the number

is between 108 and 109

(logarithmic)…that means that

my calculator could not

calculate the number, but if you do the math it is approximately

the same

Page 44: Total Control

So, stimulating indigenous soil microbes is far more beneficial than adding minute amounts of foreign bacteria

• Makes perfect sense when looking at plant/turf nutrient up-take

• Results in much better efficiency• Results in far healthier turf and plants• Results in more money in your pocket!

Page 45: Total Control

HUMATE

• The role of humate is clearly understood to be beneficial in agronomy

• Humic and Fulvic acids studied ad-infinitum in many countries including the U.S.

• Shown to sequester bound up phosphorous• Protene® fertilizer contains humate (humic and

fulvic acid) and organic amino acids

THE LIQUID STORY

• First ever foliar and root liquid protein fertilizer for turf

• Turf will absorb nutrients via the foliar route, immediately on contact

• Protein content will then enter soil profile, and stimulate and feed soil microbes

• Turf will then take nutrients via the root system, due to massive stimulation of soil microbes per medium of the amino acids and polysaccharides
