We offer a wide range of services and support to local families with children under five years. We comprise of three Children's Centres across the Torridge
district - Torrington, Holsworthy and Bideford. Our team provides support, information, professional advice and fun for all the family.
This timetable gives you details of the groups and courses running. Please do contact us if have any queries.
We offer many different services, which include:
Parenting courses—which include Antenatal, Baby Massage, Here’s Looking at
You Baby, Solihull, Family Talk, Family Thrive, Incredible Years, Cook 4 Life,
Healthy Choices, Let’s Talk More, HENRY and BookStart
Stay & Play Groups- for parents and carers with their under fives

Registration - you will need to register with us in order to access our services. It’s simple to do and completely free! If you are registered, please also keep us updated with any changes in your circumstances.

Family Thrive Course 10.00-12.00am, an 8 week bookable
parenting course looking at understanding your child’s emotional and physical
development, at the Children’s Centre, crèche available
19th September-14th November
Multiple Births Group 1.00-2.30pm, under 5’s
a group for twins, triplets and more (term time only)
at the Children’s Centre
Baby Massage A bookable four week course
for babies up to one year check for dates and details at the
Children’s Centre and on our website

St Giles on the Heath, Healthy Child Clinic 10.00-11.30am, running on the first Monday of every month at St Giles Coronation Hall,
a health promotion service run in conjunction with the Health Team,
a fun way to learn about child health
Here’s Looking at You Baby 1.30-3.00pm, a bookable course from birth
to six months at the Children’s Centre, Starting on 5th September bookable via our
website

Solihull Parenting Course 10.00-12.00am, a bookable ten week
parenting course designed to give support and guidance to parents to
help them meet their children’s needs, with crèche, at the Children’s Centre,
starting 13th September
ESOL 10.00-12.00am, a course for parents whose first language is not English
run by Petroc, with a crèche, from 13th September,
at the Children’s Centre (term time)
Being Babies 1.30-3.00pm, a Thrive focused drop in
group for babies up to 12 months at the Children’s Centre
Well Baby Clinic at Northam 2.00-3.30pm, at the Community Room, St Georges School, every 2nd and 4th
Tuesday of the month (term time only), run in partnership with the Health Visiting Team
Antenatal 2.00-4.00pm, a bookable four week course for parents-to-be at the Children’s Centre
running monthly, book via our website

Outreach A fun Children’s Centre outreach session to local toddler groups and community groups, working in conjunction with the WOW North

Music in the Library 10.00-10.45am at Great Torrington Library
(term time only)
Here’s Looking at You Baby 1.30-3.00pm, a bookable course for
babies birth to six months at the Children’s Centre focusing on baby’s early
development, running 6th September - 18th October, bookable via our website
Baby Massage
1.30-2.30pm, a three week course for babies at the Children’s Centre,
running 8th - 22nd November bookable via our website

help with their children’s speech and language development, with crèche
at the Children’s Centre 15th September to 20th October
and 3rd November to 8th December
Maths GCSE 10.00-12.00am, run by Petroc for parents
and carers with children under 5 crèche provided, from 15th September,
at the Children’s Centre (term time)
Step by Step 1.30-3.00pm, a drop in group for children
with additional needs and their siblings (term time only)
at the Children’s Centre
Solihull Parenting Course 6.30-8.30pm, a bookable 10 week parenting course designed to give
parents support and guidance to help them meet their children’s needs, no crèche,
at the Children’s Centre, starting 22nd September

1.30-3.00pm, a drop in group for babies from birth to 12 months all about
making the most of your baby’s first 12 months and supporting their development,
at the Children’s Centre

Winkleigh Play and Learn 9.30-11.00am, a drop in session
for under 5’s at Winkleigh Sports Hall, helping to develop your child’s learning
in a playful way
Being Babies 1.30-3.00pm, a drop in group for babies

supporting their development, at the Children’s Centre

group for under 5’s at East the Water Primary School
Well Baby Clinic at East the Water 9.00-10.30am, at East the Water Primary
School with the Health Visiting Team, every 1st and 3rd Friday of the month
(term time only)
Angling Club Stay and Play 10.00-11.30am, a play and stay drop in group
for under 5’s at the Angling Club
Bump, Baby and You 1.30-3.00pm, by referral, an antenatal and
postnatal group for mums-to-be and new mums at the Children’s Centre
Music 1.30-2.30pm, by referral, a group exploring learning through music
at the Children’s Centre

Dads Group 10.00-12.00am, a fun drop in session for dads and male carers and their under 5’s
(siblings up to 8 can come too). This group runs on a monthly basis - on
the first Saturday of the month

If you receive Healthy Start vouchers you can collect your free vitamins from the Children’s Centre. Pregnancy Vitamins are available to those who receive these vouchers . You can find more information about Healthy Start on www.healthystart.nhs.uk
2gether funding is free childcare funding for up to 15 hours a week to some two year olds in Devon. Devon County Council will send eligible parents a ‘Golden Ticket’. Please also see https://new.devon.gov.uk/2gether/.

WOW is Action for Children’s scrapstore project covering Northern Devon. Reusing waste from local businesses, WOW runs creative workshops, provides scrap packs to organisations and individuals and much more.
