Centre Timetable
April - July 2016
We offer a wide range of services and support to local families with children under five years. We comprise of three Children's Centres across the Torridge district -
Torrington, Holsworthy and Bideford. Our team provides support, information, professional advice and fun for all the family.
This timetable gives you details of the groups and courses running. Please do contact us if have any queries.
We offer many different services, which include:
Parenting courses - antenatal, baby massage, Here’s Looking at You Baby, Soli-
hull, Family Talk, Nurturing Families, Incredible Years, Cook 4 Life, Healthy
Choices, Let’s Talk More, HENRY, BookStart
Stay & Play Groups- for parents and carers with their under fives

Registration - you will need to register with us in order to access our services. It’s simple to do and completely free! Please also keep us updated with any changes in your circumstances if you are already registered.

Here’s Looking at You Baby 10-11.30am, a bookable course
for babies up to 7 months at the Children’s Centre. Focusing on your baby’s early
development. Running from June. Check for details at the Children’s Centre an on our website.
Multiple Births Group 1-2.30pm, under 5’s
a group for twins, triplets and more (term time only) at the
Children’s Centre
Baby Massage A bookable four week course, for babies up to one year. Check for details at the Children’s Centre and on our website

St Giles on the Heath, Play and Learn 10-11.30am, starting on 9th May, running
on the first Monday of every month at St Giles Coronation Hall
A monthly fun drop-in session, where you can also see your Health Visitor
Being Babies 1.30-3pm, a drop in group
for babies from birth to 12 months at the Children’s Centre. The last session of
the month will focus on weaning your baby.

Play and Learn 9.30-11am, under5’s
a fun drop in session at the Children’s Centre, to help develop
your child’s learning in a playful way
Baby Massage 1.30-2.30pm, a bookable four week
course for babies at the Children’s Centre, starting 9th May
Here’s Looking at You Baby 1.30-3pm, a bookable course for babies birth to 6 months at the

Solihull Parenting Course 10-12am, a bookable 10 week parenting
course designed to give support and guidance to parents to help them meet their
children’s needs, with crèche. At the Children’s Centre, starting 19th April
ESOL 10-12am, a course for parents whose
first language is not English run by Petroc, with a crèche,
at the Children’s Centre (term time)
Being Babies 1.30-3pm, a Thrive focused drop in group for babies up to 12 months
at the Children’s Centre
Well Baby Clinic at Northam 2-3.30pm, at the Community Room,
St Georges School, every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month (term time only), run in partnership with the Health Visiting Team
Antenatal 2-4pm, a bookable four week course for Parents-to-be at the Children’s Centre.

Family Talk 10-11am, a bookable 6 week course giving
parents strategies to help with their children’s speech and language development,
at the Children’s Centre

Child Health Clinic 9.30-11.30am, a drop in session at the
Children’s Centre, run in partnership with the Health Visiting Team
Breastfeeding Support Group 11.30-12.30am, a drop in session for
breastfeeding mums, with peer supporters. Feel free to bring your lunch, older
siblings welcome
Bouncing Bees (singing group) 10-10.45am at Great Torrington Library
(term time only), starting 12th April
Childminders Drop In Session 1.45-3.30pm, a drop in session for local childminders at the Children’s Centre.
Childminders can access resources and have an opportunity to network.

under 5’s, run by parents at the Children’s Centre

an opportunity to speak to a Health Visitor, at the Children’s Centre

Maths and English GCSE 10-12am, run by Petroc for parents/carers

Step by Step 1.30-3pm, a drop in group for children with additional needs and their siblings
(term time only) at the Children’s Centre
Solihull Parenting Course 6.30-8.30pm, a bookable 10 week parenting course designed to give
parents support and guidance to help them meet their children’s needs, no crèche,
at the Children’s Centre, starting 21st April

Out and About 10-11.30am, explore the great outdoors
with your children, from 28th April-7th July (not running during half term)

Being Babies 1.30-3pm, a drop in for babies up to
12 months, all about making the most of your baby’s first 12 months and
supporting their development, at the Children’s Centre

Well Baby Clinic at East the Water 9-10.30pm, at East the Water Primary School with the Health Visiting Team, every 1st and 3rd Friday of the month
Angling Club Stay and Play 10-11.30am, a drop in group for under 5’s at
the Angling Club
Here’s Looking at Your Baby 1.30-3pm, a bookable course for babies
up to 7 months, at the Children’s Centre
Bump, Baby and You 1.30-3pm, by referral, an antenatal and
postnatal group for mums-to-be and new mums at the Children’s Centre

through music, at the Children’s Centre
Out and About 1.30-2.30pm, at various locations, running from 17th June to 5th July. A weekly walk to explore Torrington with your children, please contact us to book your space and

Dads Group 10-12am, a fun drop in session for
dads and male carers and their under 5’s (siblings up to 8 can come too).
This group runs twice a month at the Children’s Centre. Check with us for dates
Saturday
If you receive Healthy Start vouchers you can collect your free vitamins from the Children’s Centre. Pregnancy Vitamins are available to those who receive these vouchers . You can find more information about Healthy Start on www.healthystart.nhs.uk.
2gether funding is free childcare funding for up to 15 hours a week to some two year olds in Devon. Devon County Council will send eligible parents a ‘Golden Ticket’. Please also see https://new.devon.gov.uk/2gether/.

WOW is Action for Children’s scrapstore project covering Northern Devon. Reusing waste from local businesses, WOW runs creative workshops, provides scrap packs to organisations and individuals and much more.
