TICKS & LYME DISEASE The Contra Costa Mosquito & Vector Control District identifies ticks and other biting and/or stinging pests. We do not test ticks for Lyme disease or other diseases. The California Department of Public Health concludes that individual tick testing does not significantly reduce the risk of Lyme disease for patients since the data cannot confirm human disease. People concerned with possible Lyme disease infection should contact their physician. Information about whether a tick should be tested for Lyme disease can be obtained at www.cdph.ca.gov. Several commercial laboratories can test ticks for Lyme disease for a fee. The District is not affiliated with these businesses and their contact information is offered solely for convenience purposes.
