Thomson Reuters EndNote Download & Installation

instructions

1. Get the software from http://sts.fullerton.edu/software/EndNote by clicking

on the Download EndNote link.

2. Login and accept the End User License Agreement (EULA).

3. Choose and download the installation files based on your

operating system.

4. Check if your EndNote installation was successful.

1 Get the Software Authorization Code

Steps Images

Step One

Go to http://sts.fullerton.edu/software/EndNote and click on the Download EndNote link

Step Two

Type in your Portal username and password. Then click Login.

Step Three

Scroll down to the bottom and click on the check box to accept the terms of the End User License Agreement (EULA)

Step Four

You will then see a Download EndNote button. Click on it to retrieve the EndNote software.

There is no license key required for EndNote.

2 Download the Software

Step One

Choose Mac or PC, based on your operating system.

Step Two

On the top right corner, click on the Download button. Next, select the Download as .zip option. The installation files will be saved

to your computer. There is no license key required for EndNote.

3 Installing your software

Mac Computers (For Windows, see Windows Computers)

Steps Images

Step One (Mac)

Locate the installation file you downloaded in the above step. Open the Mac Installation file.

Step Two (Mac)

Double click on the Install EndNote X8 icon. If you are prompted to make sure you want to open the application, click Open.

Step Three (Mac)

Click Install. It may take a couple of minutes for the installation to start.

Step Four (Mac)

Click Next.

Click Next.

Step Six (Mac)

If prompted, enter your username and password for your computer.

Step Seven (Mac)

Click Done.

Windows Computers Steps Images

Step One (Windows)

Locate the installation file you downloaded in the above step. Right click on the file, then click on Extract All… Click on Extract.

Step Two (Windows)

Locate the extracted folder. Ensure that the two files ENX7Inst.msi and License.dat and the folder Program Files are in the same folder. Open the ENX7Inst.msi file

Step Three (Windows)

On the setup welcome screen click on Next.

Step Four (Windows)

Click Accept.

Step Five (Windows)

Open your Windows Installation file and click Next.

Step Six (Windows)

Accept the agreement, then click Next.

Step Seven (Windows)

Choose the Typical Installation Type then click Next.

Step Eight (Windows)

Select the Destination Folder for your installation. Otherwise, leave the path as default. Click Next.

Step Nine (Windows)

Click Next.

Step Ten (Windows)

It may take a couple of minutes for the installation to finish. Click Finish.

4 Verify if EndNote is installed

Mac & PC Computers

On Mac: EndNote8 will appear right after you finish installation. On PC: To check if EndNote installed successfully, open Microsoft Word. EndNote should appear as a separate ribbon at the top.
