EditorsLetter If I were a medical man, I should prescribe a holiday to an

    y patient who considered his

work important. ~Bertrand RussellI recently returned from an amazing trip to N

ew York City. The purpose was to take our daughter, Tayla, and show her the highlights o

    f

this chaotic, thrilling and stunning place. With an iconic skyline thats recognized worldw

ide, NYC is defiantly a one-of -a kind place.

From its very beginning, diversity has been one of the citys primary characteristics. A

s one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the

world, it has become the artistic powerhouse, the intellectual heart, the financial center

and the sports capital of America. A place of

subways, skyscrapers, jazz, theater, fashion, publishing, and much more. The growth of t

he city seems never ending. New York itself is

a tribute to the great diverseness of the people of this country. It is a promise to the wor

ld of a better life, of freedom and opportunity.

In the four short days we had to see New York, we managed to see the Brooklyn Bridg

e, Statue of Liberty, Time Square, Central Park,

The Metropolitan Museum, Broadway, The Empire State Building, Grand Central Station,

Peking Duck in Chinatown (a must), The Plaza

(to see Eloise, of course), F.A.O. Schwarz Toy Emporium, Build-a-Bear Town, and America

n Doll City. Did I mention we took our 8 year

    old daughter?

Ok, now getting down to the message I wanted to share with you. People in New York

seemed exuberant, overjoyed and ready to

celebrate the holiday season. Huge shopping bags filled every hand, and holiday decorati

ons dazzled from every shop window. Holiday

lights lit the streets as Salvation Army volunteers dressed in their red uniforms danced e

nthusiastically to Its Beginning To Look A Lot

Like Christmas. Skaters skimmed the ice at Rockefeller Center as the giant tree was bei

    ng trimmed for the festivities.

Holiday season had definitely struck New York. Everyone seemed happy and filled with

anticipation. This made me realize that these

holiday festivities are actually enjoyed by the entire human race. After all the mad hustle a

nd bustle of our existence during the year, we

need a time to just let go. The festivities are almost a way of releasing the pressure and

slowing down, if only for a while, and saying

good bye to 2012, with the promise of new or better things to come in the New Year.

In the midst of this entire enthusiastic and high-spirited atmosphere, I have to mention

the quote by John D. Rockefeller, displayed

prominently outside the Rockefeller Center. How apt to read these words whilst standi

ng and watching the skaters in this great city

where it all started. Dont tell me these words dont strike a chord...

I believe in the supreme worth of the individual and in his right to life, liberty and the p

    ursuit of happiness.

I believe that every right implies a responsibility; every opportunity, an obligation; every

    possession, a duty.

I believe that the law was made for man and not man for the law; that government is t

he servant of the people and not their

    master.

I believe in the dignity of labor, whether with head or hand; that the world owes no man

a living but that it owes every man an

    opportunity to make a living.

I believe that thrift is essential to well-ordered living and that economy is a prime r

equisite of a sound financial structure,

whether in government, business or personal affairs.

I believe that truth and justice are fundamental to an enduring social order.

I believe in the sacredness of a promise, that a mans word should be as good as his bon

d, that characternot wealth or power

    or positionis of supreme worth.

I believe that the rendering of useful service is the common duty of mankind and that on

ly in the purifying fire of sacrifice is the

dross of selfishness consumed and the greatness of the human soul set free.

I believe in an all-wise and all-loving God, named by whatever name, and that the in

    dividuals highest fulfillment, greatest

happiness and widest usefulness are to be found in living in harmony with His will.

I believe that love is the greatest thing in the world; that it alone can overcome hate; that

right can and will triumph over might.

    ~ John D. Rockefeller

Great words from a great man!

My holiday blessings to you this year is to have fun, and let go a little. Let the inner chil

d in you surface for a short time. We all need

this reprieve from our day-to-day existence. This reprieve helps us to relax and re-ener

gize for the New Year, with possibilities full of

    hope and opportunity.

Happy Holidays to you and your family!
