Sermon Notes—January 5, 2020 The Ultimate Makeover Step One—Humility Matthew 5:3 A. Humility is the foundation for building or rebuilding our lives. B. Humility involves never insisting on our own way as we place others above ourselves. (Philippians 2:3-4) C.S. Lewis wrote, Jesus taking on human flesh is comparable for what it would be like for us to turn into a slug (slimy snail). Humility follows the order of God, others, self! C. Humility is the only way to be a true servant and to greatness in Gods kingdom. (Mark 10:42-45) Jesus did not discourage His disciples from seeking greatness. He gave them the path to true greatness. Each of us should desire to be great in Gods kingdom, but it is imperative we understand service is the way to greatness and there is no service without humility. We are all slaves to either sin or to Christ. (Romans 6:16- 18) What type of slavery will we choose for ourselves? CENTRIKID Informational Meeting: January 26 th following the morning service in the choir room. CentriKid is a camp for children who have completed 3 rd -5 th grades. Location: Campbellsville, KY. Dates: June 15-19, 2020. WEDNESDAY NIGHT PALOOZA: These highly anticipated nights are fun-filled theme nights that incorporate Bible stories and lessons. Ages 2-PreK will meet in Room 108 in Preschool Wing and K-5 th graders in e-worship room. 6:30-7:30 p.m. January 8 th : Superhero Night. Dress as your favorite Superhero. e-WORSHIP: (Elementary Worship) K-5 th graders will be dismissed prior to the sermon. Parents pick up your child(ren) in the e-worship room at the back of the gym following the service. Current Series: Ingredients of a Godly Life-A Bowl of Trust. AWANA: Awana is a gospel-centered program focusing on scripture memory that is fun and exciting and includes wacky theme nights. We meet on Sunday nights; 5:30- 7:00pm. Preschoolers meet in the preschool wing and elementary meet in the gym. Awana starts back TONIGHT! Great time to join! Memorize those verses; it’s Triple Points Night! SAVE THE DATE: VBS will be July 12-16, 2020. Infants-PreK: Childcare and classes are available in the preschool wing during church services. The preschool wing is through the front doors, at the left of the sanctuary. Restrooms are located through the doors at the rear of the sanctuary or around the corner from the church office when exiting the front sanctuary doors. The Ultimate Makeover

Step One—Humility

Matthew 5:3

A. Humility is the foundation for building or rebuilding our lives.

Pray for the Pastor Search Committee that they would have

the mind of Christ and be in complete unity.

I appeal to you, brothers and sisters,[a] in the name of our

Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in

what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but

that you be perfectly united in mind and thought.

Guatemala Mission: We are collecting shoes new or gently used. The sizes and gender needed are on the mission bulletin board in the hallway . Feel free to take a paper shoe down, buy the size/gender and drop them off in the shoe bin in the work room !
