GRAND PRIX OF CANADA The Grand Prix of Canada, a first for the Canadian
Motorcycle Association, brings to Mosport Park the world's top riders, including Britain's Mike Hailwood, Giacomo Agostini of Italy, Phil Read, Bill Ivy and Fred Stevens of Britain and Ralph Bryans of Ireland.
The races are being supported by the Federal Centennial Commission as a celebration of Canada's Centennial, and in addition to a grant to bring the riders from Europe, they have donated a large trophy, plus gold, silver and bronze medals for the winners and smaller centennial medals for all contestants.
The World Championship Grands Prix take place mainly in Europe, with each country hosting a round. There are 13 rounds altogether this year and ours is the twelfth, with Japan to follow.
The 500 cc championship is to be decided right here at the Mosport track between Agostini and Hailwood. At present, Agostini on the three cylinder MV
Agusta has five first placings and one second to make his best six scores for the season. Hailwood has four firsts and a second, so a win for his four cylinder Honda here is very important. A possible tie in points will be decided by the world governing body, the Federation Internationale Motocycliste.
The 250 cc championship is being contested among Hailwood, Bryans for Honda and Read and Ivy for Yamaha. The only E uropean in the 125 cc r ace will be Ivy on a Yamaha.
On the line in the 500 cc will be Canada's top rider, Yvon du Hamel of Montreal who rides Triumph for Fred Deeley and while he cannot be expected to win out over the factory machines, he will doubtless make a good showing. An another Triumph is the top points man from the U.S.A., Gary Nixon of Baltimore, Maryland. Du Hamel will a lso contest the 250 cc championship event, riding Yamaha.
YAMAHA PEOPLE ARE A VERY CONSERVATIVE, CAUTIOUS GROUP. NOT A GROUP TO USE FLOWERY ADJECTIVES. COLOURFUL PHRASES OR MAKE RASH STATEMENTS ...
... THIS IS THE NEW YAMAHA 350 GRAND PRIX WE LIKE IT AND WE THINK YOU WILL TOO. WHY NOT SEE IT AT YOUR LOCAL DEALER NOW !!

SPEED CONVERSION TABLES The Mosport course is 2.459 miles long. Check the chart below to find the speed at which the cars are travelling. Time the car for one lap and convert the minutes and seconds to M.P.H. by consulting the chart. This will give the average speed for one lap, though much higher speeds are obtained on the back straight.

Each season more and more Canadian racing drivers rely on Veedol protection - as do racing drivers around the world .
Whether it lubricates racing cars or family auto· mobiles, Veedol motor oil gives greater driving mileage through quicker starts and reduced friction; affording maximum protection for engines under all driving conditions. EPA':' - Extra Protection Additive - is blended with this world famous motor oil to increase engine life. Veedol keeps a wear-reducing film of oil on the working surfaces of your engine and holds harmful corrosive and sludge-forming elements in suspension so· they can be drained from the engine.
Add more life to your automobile. The next time you drain your engine's crankcase, flll up with Veedol motor oil.
OVERALL CANADIAN CHAMPION
George Chapman, a Winnipeg lawyer, drove his Veedol Lotus 238 to the Canadian Sports Car Driving Championship.
