COMPETITION Quinones-Hinojosa: Schmidek and Sweet: Operative Neurosurgical Techniques 2-Volume Set, 6th

    Edition, © 2012, 2,592pp, $559, Elsevier.

This set contains both cranial and spine procedures, and thus would compete with both Fessler and

Sekhar. It has a similar goal to our book. It is a bit more text heavy with significantly fewer illustrations.

This is serious competition. We exploited the weaknesses of this book in its fifth edition, and Elsevier

responded with a solid new sixth edition. They have 15 5-star reviews on Amazon. Fessler and Sekhar

    combined have three.
