Having coached salon owners from all over the world at Salon international, featured for Hairdressers Journal, NHBF and is a resident coach for 365 salon education. Jennifer has a wealth of marketing education to share with the industry.

What ever I’ve wanted to do in marketing I have taught myself says Jennifer I found a strategy that is working in another successful business studied it and made it work for my business in the hairdressing industry.

Every successful business owner tells you to go figure out who you sell to, your client avatar but that word is so flat to me.

Luckily, she already knew her ideal client inside out as she had spent 12 weeks straight studying her after realising how important it was to know her customers. Jennifer pretty much got to know her better than she knew herself. Where she lived, what colour her décor was, what car she drove, where she shopped, where she went for coffee with friends, where she went for wine with friends, what her hobbies were, where she ate at the weekend with her husband and where she ate during the week with girlfriends. She then studied the places she loved to go, to find out what they were doing that she was connecting with there. Wanting every post that went out to make her feel that Jennifer was talking straight to her.

Her name is Sue and she is the most important asset in Jennifer’s business. Even the way she serves the coffee at Obsessions Salon is for Sue. The way the team dress is for Sue. The salon is decorated for Sue and Jennifer has woven little parts of all the places she loves into the salon so that it connects with her on a deeper level. And sure enough, more women just like Sue started to join the obsession too.

A few weeks later while working with a new client Jennifer asked her how she found obsessions? It turns out that she had driven and hour and a half to get a haircut with her because of a post she saw on Instagram. The salons Instagram post had spoken directly to her. The next new client that came through the door was asked the same question, only to hear a similar response. Then another and another! She had finally figured out how to connect in person AND on social media with her ideal clients.

Jennifer’s now driving quality leads to her business in a way that they already feel like they know the team before they even walk through the door. Jennifer consistently share things that she knows for sure will interest them throughout the day. They know what the team are up to, who the team are and clients experience from beginning to end what it’s like inside the salon with. Our clients get to know the team from afar. I banish their fears of walking into a new salon for the first time… fears of who will be serving them and whether they will like their hair or not. I build connections and friendships through our social media channels by simply connecting with them, managing their fears and expectations in every interaction I have say’s Jennifer.
