The production line is designed and built in accordance with the latest technologies in the field, being defined by a high produc-tion capacity and a continuous and fully automated production process.

The high quality of the manufacturing materials together with the modern production technology, ensure for the polar insulating panels a high class of physical and mechanical properties which, therefore, have a wide range of applications.

The main advantages of using polar insulating panels:

› Innovative design of the mechanical system for fastening be-tween two panels;

› Applicability on any type of structural system;

› Possibility of reuse and repartitioning;

› Larger usable construction area compared to other enclosure systems;

› Thermal and acoustic insulation, fire protection;

› High degree of industrialization - prefabrication of constructions.

The main compound of the polar insulating panels is POLYURETHA-NE, a rigid, insulating foam, the result of the chemical mixing reac-tion of polyol and isocyanate and various additives and catalysts. Depending on the reaction time of the material, it is ready to use in a few minutes.

The main characteristics of this compound:

› Excellent thermal insulation;

› Good compressive strength and dimensional stability when used in environments with low or high temperatures;

› Material with high impermeability;

› It is a light material;

› High structural resistance and intrinsic adhesion to metals;

POLYISOCYANURATE comes with the advantages of the already known Polyurethane - a light material with extremely low weight, high structural resistance, intrinsic adhesion to metals and excellent thermal insulation properties. In addition, the cyclic annular structu-re of the polyisocyanurate gives it greater thermal stability, resulting in improved performances of both reaction to fire and protection.

Due to the metal surfaces formed by two support layers of qua-lity sheet metal S220GD + Z + 140, or S250GD + Z + 140, hot-dip galvanized and pre-painted, the sandwich panels are completely waterproof. The remarkable quality of thermal insulation is mainly generated by the properties of the rigid Polyurethane foam, which has the lowest coefficient of thermal conductivity of all common-ly used materials (brick, AAC, wood, mineral wool core, Polystyre-ne). Rigid polyisocyanurate foam is characterized by equally good thermal insulation properties, but in terms of the fire resistance indicators, they are significantly improved.

Methodology for load evaluationThe calculation methodology for the polar insulating panels of sandwich-type implies the taking into account of some aspects such as: permanent loads, snow, wind. After that, two additional loads are of major importance in assessing the load-bearing ca-pacity of the panels: the stresses resulting from the temperature differences between the two sides of the panel and the extrusion of the insulation layer due to tangential stresses in it (developed especially in synthetic materials).

Taking into account the excellent thermal insulation properties of the Polyurethane foam, thermal radiation - the effect of the sun rays occurs on only one side of the panel, which leads to a significant temperature difference between the surface exposed to radiation and the one which is not exposed. The high thermal conductivity, but also the coefficient of thermal expansion - both specific to metals - determine the appearance of significant in-

ternal stresses at the level of the sandwich-type cross section and can also cause deformations of the panel.

Unlike metals, synthetic materials have a different behavior un-der the effect of a constant load. Initially, transverse deformations give rise to elastic reactions. If the loading remains constant, the purely elastic deformations shrink continuously due to the defor-mation of the polymer.

Since polar insulating panels are composite elements, Bernoulli's hypothesis regarding the flatness of the cross section following the appearance of a deformation is no longer valid. Deformation and stresses in the insulation layer must be taken into account. Calculations that take into consideration a "rigid connection" be-tween the components of the sandwich panel will theoretically lead to an overestimation of the load-bearing capacity of the pa-nels and thus to their incorrect sizing.

packaging • transport • handling • storage

Sandwich panels can be easily damaged if not handled properly, at every stage, from the production process to their assembly.

PackagingThe panels leave the production line in the form of a pack-age. The number of panels in a package depends on the type of panel, its THICKNESS and LENGTH.

Protection foilDuring production, the panels are laminated on both sides of the metal surface with a protective foil. It protects the surface of the panels against damage during transport, storage and assembly. The foil is a temporary protection solution because, if it is exposed to weather conditions and sunlight for too long, it can adhere to the metal and, as a result, it may become impossible to remove.This is why it is recommended that the foil be removed with-in a maximum of one month from the date of production or no later than 3 weeks after sun exposure.The date of manufacture will be specified on the label of each package of panels delivered to the customer.

Panel transportIf the transport is provided by the customer, there are some basic principles that have to be considered:

› In order to load the panel packages into the truck, fork-lifts will be used;

› The panels will be transported only with vehicles which are perfectly functional from the technical point of view;

› The loading platform must be flat and clean, without pro-trusions or sharp pieces;

› Open tarpaulin semi-trailers are recommended, having a minimum width of 2.5m, as difficulties might be en-countered in loading two packages of panels in a closed semi-trailer (this having in general a modular width of 1.2m)

› The panels must be secured with straps, at least 2 pieces for 2 packages, if they are loaded in two rows or 2 pieces per package if they are loaded in one row. Packages must be secured with straps, placed at a distance of maximum 3m between each other.

› Panel packages shall not be transported on top of other goods.It is very important that the panels are transported, handled and stored in optimal conditions so that they can maintain their sustainability.During the manufacturing process, the surface of the polar insulating panels shall be protected by temporary protec-tion systems, especially of an aesthetic nature - through a polyethylene film (adhesive by contact).As general rules for application during the processes of packaging, transport, handling and storage protection mea-sures must be taken so as to ensure:

› Protection of surfaces against abrasion phenomena, es-pecially during transport and handling;

› Protection against hits and deformations;

› Protection against weather or humidity resulting from condensation;

Avoiding permanent deformation on the support elements of the panel package.

PACKAGINGThe panels are delivered in packages wrapped with stretch foil, on Polystyrene supports. The number of panels in the package varies depending on the size (THICKNESS, LENGTH) or customer requirements, taking into account the limitations imposed by the manufacturing technology. The wall panels are stacked in the package with the outer (mounting) face facing up.

TRANSPORTPolar insulating panels can be transported with side-load-ing or top-loading vehicles. The special conditions of load-ing and transport can only be accepted at the written re-quest of the buyer (who thus assumes full responsibility).

The carrier is solely responsible for the integrity of the cargo throughout the transport. Upon receipt of the goods, the ben-eficiary has the obligation to check and record on the trans-port documents any non-conformity that (s)he has found.

HANDLINGBefore starting to unload the thermal insulation panels, check the condition of the packages. The unloading opera-tion shall be performed with a forklift or crane. Textile strips and spacer boards shall be used that must exceed the width of the panels on each side by 50mm. The packages shall be unloaded one by one, regardless of the LENGTH of the panels. Packages shorter than 6 m can be lifted with a forklift or fork, using textile belts. Packages longer than 6m shall be handled using a crane with a balance beam with the help of textile strips located at a distance of no more than 3m from the edges of the panels. The handling shall be done with great care, so as not to damage the surfaces of the panels. The panels must be removed from the package by lifting, and not by sliding, thus avoiding surface damage.

The individual handling of the panels as well as the remov-al of the protective foil shall be done by trained personnel. It is forbidden to hold and lift the panel by only one face, as there is a risk of it detaching from the core of the Poly-urethane foam. Workers must always wear gloves lest they should cut or scratch themselves.

STORAGEThe packages shall be stored on hard, uniform, smooth sur-faces to avoid damaging the panels. The packages shall be stored slightly inclined in order to allow rainwater to drain. The packages shall not be stored directly on the ground, but on wooden or Polystyrene supports. If overlaps are made, wooden or Polystyrene spacers with the widest possible support base should be used. A maximum of 2 packages can be overlapped. If it is not possible to ensure the storage conditions specified above, it is forbidden to overlap the packages with panels. People should not step directly on the package. For longer-term packages stored indoors, en-sure adequate protection (with tarpaulins) from rainwater, snow, wind and contamination. Packages that are partially wrapped and individual panels shall be secured with straps or protected from strong winds. The storage of dark-col-ored panels shall be done by avoiding their exposure to the direct action of sunlight.
