Study by British Compressed air society establishes that in a compressed air system of conventional pipes using threaded & welded joints can leak as much as 25% by the end of 5th year…,

What causes leaks?

• Pipe corrosion • Expansion & contraction stress on joints• Bad sealing of the fitting/pipe connection• Defective valves

Due to the rough internal surface whenever the pressurized air comes in contact with uneven internal surface of the pipe, turbulence is introduced in the air flow thereby disturbing the optimum velocity balance and thus causing pressure drop

Where as in Transair aluminum pipes the internal surface of the pipe is very smooth thus enabling a laminar flow and maintaining optimum velocities through out the network

Turbulent flow

Laminar flow

Primary Issue: Optimum Velocity

Low Pressure Drop = SAVE!Low Pressure Drop = SAVE!

-Forces compressor to work harder to -Supply proper pressure and air flowCauses:

– Improperly sized air pipe– Inefficient pipe layout– Pipe scale and corrosion– Pipe material

High coefficient of friction Reduces velocity, therefore the pressure of air as it travels along the pipe wall

Larger cross-sectional area of larger pipe holds more air than smaller pipe, therefore higher air flows are possible with less pressure drop .

Typical cost breakdown

Over a ten years period , the cost of energy consumed by an average compressed air system exceeds other costs , including the initial cost of equipment and installation.

Best industrial practice demands that the greatest savings be made in production plant costs

• Cost efficiency is more than just a question of choosing the right compressor …… It is only a part of the story !

• If the compressed air system itself is not designed for the purpose , there is a good chance that much of the costs associated with commissioning the system and producing compressed air are going out of the window – quite literally .

• This is what provides clear guidance on Transairownership cost advantage!

Hence, Choosing the right compressor …… It is only a part of the story…
