Registration Frequently Asked Questions How do I register? Fill out the registration form on the next page. Submission instructions appear on the registration form. What if my plans change and I cannot make it to the class? Cancel your registration by contacting Wendy Vogel at (904) 630-7265 so another person can be registered in your place. How long do I have to register for a course? Registrations will be accepted for the upcoming month only! You may register for a class the last full week of the month prior to the next month of the training. This will help ensure fewer no-shows, which often occur when an individual registers for a class too far in advance and forgets. What happens when the course is filled? A waiting list is created and calls are made to registrants in the order they were placed on the list if there is a cancellation. You will not be admitted if you are not on the roll sheet. Can I register at the door the day of the training? No. The Training Institute cannot properly prepare attendance forms, handouts or certificates if you have not pre-registered. What happens if a course is canceled? If a course is canceled, registered participants will be notified of the cancelation by phone or e-mail. A course may be postponed or canceled due to lack of registrations. What if I arrive late? Plan to arrive to your class site 10 minutes early. Security measures in our building and many off-site training locations require outside doors to be locked. Security guards will not admit anyone to a class that has begun. Can I leave the class early? No. Plan to stay for the entire training as classes will end at the scheduled time and certificates will be issued. In-service credit hours are given for the actual clock hours of class time. May I bring a guest or children to class? Only registered participants may attend training sessions. An interpreter or physical aide is always welcome, but let us know if someone else is attending when you register for consideration of room capacity. Can you accommodate me if I have special needs? Yes. Please let us know when you register if you require special accommodations. What if it’s inconvenient for my staff to attend a class off-site? No problem! Children’s Commission trainers are available to provide classes at your agency when their schedules permit. To check on scheduling a training session at your site, contact Keri Corey at (904) 630-6437 or [email protected].

212° The Extra Degree captures the essence of excellence in an unforgettable way. At 211°, water is hot. At 212°, it boils. With boiling water, comes steam. And steam can power a locomotive. The one extra degree makes the difference.

This simple analogy reflects the ultimate definition of excellence. Because it’s the one extra degree of effort, in business and life, that can separate the good from the great.

# of Participants 10 – 20

Date

Dec. 5

Time 9 – 11 a.m.

Course Overview Special Note

More than 30,000 people die by suicide every year in the United States. In 2007, young people in Florida ages 10-24 accounted for 231 of these deaths, making suicide the third leading cause of death for this age group in our state. QPR is an educational program that teaches professionals and community members how to recognize a mental health emergency and provide a person at risk the help they need. QPR stands for Question, Persuade and Refer – three simple steps that anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide. Just as people trained in CPR help save thousands of lives each year, professionals trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade and refer someone to help. .2 CEs are available for clinical social workers, marriage and family therapy and mental health counselors.
