This was due in part to Paul of Tarsus, who traveled throughout the Roman world spreading Christian teachings. He traveled on the road networks that connected areas of the Roman Empire. One hundred years after Jesus’s death, thousands of Christians lived in the Roman Empire. Over time, Christianity became so popular that the emperor made it Rome’s official religion. MAP ACTIVITY 1. The Spread of ChristianityChristianity spread quickly. This was due in part to Paul of Tarsus, who traveled throughout the Roman world spreading Christian teachings. He traveled on the road networks that connected areas of the Roman Empire. One hundred years after Jesus’s death, thousands of Christians lived in the Roman Empire.
