This is a story about a sandwich. Not just any sandwich but a ham sandwich.

And here’s how it goes.

On Thursday around

lunchtime Luis saw

another kid’s lunch. His

name was Jacob and he

had a ham sandwich.

Luis slowly crept up to

the lunch box to get a

closer look. Then Luis

did something very

bad indeed… He took

the ham sandwich.

He was about to eat but the end of lunch bell rang. Then he was going to eat it on the was home after school, but he had to take his little sister home from pre-school. And he almost ate it at home but he had too much homework to do.

Soon dinner was ready so Luis stashed the ham

sandwich under his bed where he thought it would be

safe. During dinner his mum got an email from Luis’

school. It was about a stolen sandwich. When his mum

asked if he knew anything about it Luis just said “No.”

That night

while everyone was sleeping

the ham sandwich

doubled in

size.

The next day at school all anyone could talk about was the stolen ham sandwich. Some kids even played detectives to try and find the criminal.

When an assembly was

called by the principal he

asked if anyone knew

anything about the stolen

sandwich. Everyone including

Luis said ‘No.’

That day while he was

at school the under his

bed doubled in size

again.

All week Luis and the other

students were asked the

same question by their

parents, teachers and

friends; Who stole the ham

sandwich? Every time he

was asked Luis said he

didn’t know anything.

? ?

Luis denied that he knew anything about the

sandwich so many times the sandwich grew to fit

under his bed, then his entire room and then the

corridor next to his room.

One day after school Luis was

walking home and saw his family

and neighbors standing outside his

house shaking in fear. Luis broke

into a run to find out what was

wrong.

When he got to the

crowd he discovered

what had happened .

There sitting where

his house should

have been was an

extremely big

sandwich.

“Please don’t cry!” yelled Luis.

“It’s my fault. I stole the

sandwich.” Luis’ parents were

extremely disappointed in him

demanding an apology. “ But

don’t apologize to us” they

said “apologize to the

sandwich’s owner and your

principal.

So Luis and his family strapped

the sandwich to the top of the car

and headed towards the school.

But the closer they got to the

school the more regretful Luis

became. And the more regretful

Luis became the more the more

the sandwich began to shrink. So

by the time they got to the school

the sandwich had shrunk to it’s

normal size

Luis then got out of the car took the ham

sandwich of the roof and walked towards Jacob,

who is the original owner of the sandwich, and

said “ I’m very sorry that I stole your sandwich.

Please accept my apology.” And Jacob replied “

Of coarse I accept your apology.” But Luis still

felt bad.

The principal then walked over and

put his hand on Luis shoulder. “

You’ve done the right thing bye

apologizing, but you will have to be

suspended for 2 weeks as

punishment “ said the principal. “ I

know” said Luis “ But I deserve it.”

And finally the ham sandwich was

returned to it’s rightful owner who ate

it quite happily

Luis has stolen a

ham sandwich

but will he do the right thing and

return it?
