During Goodfellows recipient shopping for clothing for more than 1,100 children at Meijer the first week in December, a man stopped at the Goodfellows’ check-in table and asked what were we doing. We said we were Goodfellows, the oldest Christ-mas program for children in Howard County. We were founded in 1911, and this was our 107th year of helping children in Howard County. We are an all-volunteer organization. We have no paid staff and no building. The majority of our funding comes from We Care. The man responded: “Our people helping our people. That’s the way it should be.” We agree because

We Care, Goodfellows and their volunteers, including members of Club Kokomo, are “our people helping our people.” Johnny ‘O sends a big thank you to the following Club Kokomo Road Runners, who, in most cases, once again became Goodfellows during client shopping Dec. 4-7. Volunteers included Theresa Barlow, David Barnes, Bill and Kathi Barnett, David Bruce, Kristen Chester, Dan Coughlin, David Hughes, Dan, Linda, Megan, and Sarah Lutes, Tom Miklik, Carol Savage, Stan Shuey, Robin Tetrault, Jeanne and Greg Townsend, Heather,

Natalie and Lauren Weber, John Wiles, and Joseph Yeagle. Brian West and UAW 1166 directs the Christmas program. John Wiles is secretary of the board of directors. Brian West also is vice president of Goodfellows board of directors. People helping people would not be possible without We Care, its volun-teers, and donors. Goodfellows would not be possible without the help of Meijer, a huge supporter of all programs in Howard County, and our long-time volunteers, in-cluding members of UAW 1166, UAW 292, FCA Kokomo Casting plant, Firefighters

Local 396, UAW Local 685, United Steelworkers 2958, EMA, Club Kokomo Road Runners, local Marine Corps League, Tri Kappa, and Kiwanis, in addition to 27 high school seniors from all five Howard County high schools. Our volunteers are people helping people, and we hope this will continue for years to come.

Goodfellows spends thousands of dollars each year on clothing for children. We Care

provided $105,000 this year to Goodfellows. Goodfellows also receive corporate and

individual donations, which help fund Goodfellows’ scholarships and donations to CK’s

Coyote Kids.

Checks have been given to WeCare from the CK Cares Run, to KHS Magic Closet and Kokomo Student Assistance Account from the CK Charity Run b. Should we have a Tent at the 500 Festival Mini Marathon? Yes. It was approved to have one. Cost $430. c. David Bruce will be putting a training plan together for the Mini marathon. d. Time For Wednesday night runs in Highland Park will change to 5:30PM after January 1. e. Winter Solstice fun run is Dec 20, 5. Reimburse David Bruce for Winter Solstice Gift Cards. Passed. 6. Vern Keller reported on The Reminiscing Run 5K on Dec 31, 2017. 7. Mat Snyder will look at the CK website for revamping and making it more user friendly. 8. The club was informed that Ashley Shanks is no longer associated with the Rudolph Run. Mtg.
