Introduction
This book will tell you information about roadrunners.
Characteristics
The roadrunner is a bird with 2 long legs, a long tail. On its feet there are 2 toes pointing forward and 2 toes pointing backwards. The roadrunner is a blue and brown color with striped patterning. The roadrunner stands about 2 feet tall.
Habitat
The roadrunner lives in the desert of hot states and also it lives in the grasslands.
Diet
The roadrunner eats insects, fruit, seeds, small reptiles, snakes, small mammals, spiders, scorpions, centipedes, millipedes, mice and small birds.
Behavior
The roadrunner runs on roads. That's how it got the name "roadrunner."
It can run 15 miles per hour.
Defense
The roadrunner runs away from its predators and hides behind rocks.
Life Cycle
The roadrunner begins as an egg. It hatches into a baby and then grows in childhood until it is a matures into an adult.
Adults then reproduce and lay eggs.
Conclusion
People build houses in the roadrunner's habitat and then the roadrunner cannot find anywhere to live. We have to take care of them.
