Después de despedir a Marianne y Cathrine viajamos a Silkeborg, una ciudad muy simpática en el centro de Dinamarca, ubicada a orillas de un hermoso lago, llamado Silkeborg Langsø.

Himmelbjerget ("La Montaña del Cielo") es una colina ubicada en la municipalidad de Ry. Con una altura de 147 metros es uno de los puntos más elevados de Dinamarca. En la cumbre de la colina hay una torre de 25 metros de altura

erigida en honor del Rey Frederik VII y su esfuerzo por darle al pueblo danés una constitución en 1849.

Himmelbjerget ("The Heaven Mountain" or "The Sky Mountain") is a hill located in Ry Municipality. With a height of 147 meters it is one of the highest points of elevation in Denmark. On top of the hill there is a 25 meter tall tower that was

erected to honor King Frederik VII and his role in giving the Danish people a constitution in 1849.

La iglesia de Ebeltoft. Ebeltoft es uno de los centros turísticos de Dinamarca merced a la belleza natural del área, al centro de la ciudad vieja con sus calles de empedrado y sus antiquísimas casas de madera y, como si fuera poco, una enorme cantidad de playas.

Ebeltoft's Church. Ebeltoft is one of the tourist centres of Denmark, due to the natural beauty of the area, its old town center with cobble stoned streets and half timbered houses centuries old and, not least, a large amount of beaches.

Hoy es jueves 1° de junio y ya estamos camino a Skagen. A poco de partir hacemos una parada en casa de Birthe y Svend, a quienes todavía no conocemos. Svend es hermano de Gunnar.

Today is June 1st. and we are already travelling to Skagen. We make a stop at Birthe & Svend's home, to meet them. Svend is Gunnar's brother.

Skagen está en el extremo norte de Dinamarca, y aunque nosotros seguimos al auto de Gunnar, que va delante nuestro marcando el camino, a Eddy le gusta controlar la ruta con el mapa.

Skagen is situated in the northern end of Denmark. Although we follow Gunnar's car, that rides in front showing us the way, Eddy likes to check the map.

Estamos ahora entrando a Skagen, una ciudad balnearia muy pintoresca, con sus típicas casas de color amarillo, puertas y ventanas blancas y techos de tejas rojas con curiosas guardas blancas a los costados.

We are now entering Skagen, a very picturesque summer holiday city, with typical yellow houses with white doors and windows and red tiles roofs whith funny white strips on their sides.

Estamos viajando en el 'Sandormen'. Sandormen -que en danés significa "gusano o culebra de arena"- es un tractor que remolca un vagón que nos llevará a través de las dunas directamente hasta Grenen, el mismísimo extremo norte de Dinamarca,

donde los dos mares chocan entre sí. El nombre proviene del serpenteo que el vehículo hace entre las dunas.

We are now traveling on the 'Sandormen'. Sandormen - the danish expression for "sandworm" or "sand snake" - is a tractor with a wagon that takes us through the dunes directely Grenen, the very top of Denmark, where the 2 seas meet.

The name originates from the wagons' coiling movements through the sand dunes.

Acabamos de llegar a Grenen, el extremo norte de Jutlandia, al norte de Skagen, y por lo tanto el punto más septentrional de Dinamarca donde los dos mares, el Skagerrak (Mar del Norte) y el Kattegat (Mar Báltico), se encuentran. Cientos de barcos pasan diariamente frente a Grenen.

We've just arrived in Grenen, the northmost tip of Jutland, north of the town of Skagen, thereby the northmost point of Denmark where the two seas, the Skagerrak (North Sea) and the Kattegat (Baltic Sea), meet. Hundreds of ships pass daily by Grenen.

Grenen debe su nombre a su forma que recuerda a la rama de un árbol. En danés 'gren' significa 'pino'.Si se observa detenidamente en un mapa se advierte que el extremo de Grenen no apunta precisamente hacia el norte sino hacia el Este.

Grenen was given its name for its shape like a tree-branch. In Danish gren means 'pine tree'.A careful look at the map shows that the tip of Grenen actually doesn't point North. It points East.

El encuentro de los dos mares con olas que entrechocan permanentemente, genera un espectáculo muy particular. La especial luminosidad que produce el reflejo de la luz en el mar y la anchura del horizonte generan una profunda sensación de amplitud espacial y atrajo a numerosos artistas en el siglo XIX para intentar reproducir este singular paisaje.

The encounter of both seas with waves permanently clashing in opposite directions produces a very special sight. The reflection of the light in the sea and the width of the horizon creates a huge feeling of open space

and drew a great many 19th century artists to the region to try to reproduce this sight.

Mariana y Dickie. Cada año, el mar traslada aproximadamente 1 millón de metros cúbicos de arena a lo largo de la costa oeste de Jutlandia para depositarlos al norte de Skagen y extender la punta de Grenen otros 8 a 15 metros hacia dentro del mar.

El extremo norte de Dinamarca creció más de un kilómetro en los últimos 100 años.

Mariana & Dickie. Each year about 1 million cubicmeter sand is being transported along the Westcoast of Jutland by the sea, all the way up to Skagen, where it finally stops and extends the tip of Grenen another 8-15 meters out into the sea.

During the past 100 years the top of Denmark has grown more than 1 kilometer longer.

Por la importancia estratégica de este sector de la costa danesa, cuando los alemanes invadieron el país construyeron innumerables bunkers en los alrededores de Skagen para atacar a los barcos que navegaban entre los dos mares.

Because of the strategic importance of this particular stretch of the coastline, during the occupation of Denmark the germans constructed a number of fortified areas in and around Skagen to attack ships that navigated between the two seas.

This is what you can find when you walk along the beaches on both sides of the top. Millons of stones and pebbles, some of them with funny colours or amazing shapes...

Gunnar, Dickie y el Dannebrog, bandera nacional de Dinamarca.El Dannebrog es considerada sin discusiones la bandera nacional oficial más antigua del mundo cuyo origen se remonta al Siglo 14.

Otras banderas danesas son el Splitflag (Bandera del Estado) y el Orlogsflag (Bandera Naval). Son similares al Dannebrog pero ambas terminan con forma de cola de golondrina. El Orlogsflag es de un rojo más oscuro que el Splitflag y sólo se usa en el mar.

Gunnar, Dickie and the Dannebrog, the national flag of Denmark.The Dannebrog is the oldest state flag in the world still in use, with the earliest undisputed source dating back to the 14th century.

Other Danish flags are the Splitflag (State Flag) and the Orlogsflag (Naval Flag). They're both Danish flags ending in a swallow-tail, but the Orlogsflag is a Splitflag with a deeper red colour and is only used on sea.

El "Faro Gris", cuyo nombre oficial fue "Faro de Skagen", se encendió por primera vez en 1858. Con una altura de 46 metros fue la torre más alta de Dinamarca hasta 1962. Junto con su predecesor,

la Torre Blanca (muy cerca de la cabaña de Gunnar y Bodil), conforman un lindo paisaje.

The "Grey Lighthouse", who’s official name was just "Skagen Light", was first lit in 1858. With a height of 46 meters it was Denmark’s highest tower until 1962. Together with its predecessor,

the white tower (very near Gunnar & Bodil's summer cabin), the grey tower forms a nice scene.

We are now in the Fyrbakken or Vipefyr, a replica of the first light in Skagen. It stands on a little hill, and it looks just like the one from 1627. Originally the basket was filled with wood,

which was lit and burned the whole night to help the ships sailing near the coast.

Til Sandede Kirke (la Iglesia Enterrada en Arena) es una torre totalmente blanca que emerge de la arena y que antiguamente fue el campanario de una iglesia y de un pueblo que ya no existen porque fueron ocultados por las dunas.

Til Sandede Kirke (the sand-engulfed Buried Church) is a white tower that emerges from the sand and that long ago was the bell tower of a church and a village that don't exist anymore because they were covered by the dunes.

Esto es todo lo que queda de lo que en un tiempo fue la iglesia más grande de la zona. Construida a mediados del siglo 14, hacia fines del siglo 18 los fieles se cansaron de apalear la arena para entrar o salir de la iglesia y el Rey de Dinamarca aceptó

que fuese cerrada en 1795. El cuerpo principal de la iglesia se derrumbó pero la torre aún permanece en pie como una perfecta metáfora del paso del tiempo y de la inexorable marcha de la naturaleza, a la que el hombre no puede oponerse.

This is all what's left of what once was the biggest church in the area. Built in the mid 14th century by the end of the 18th century the worshippers had grown tired of having to dig themselves into and out of the church and the King of Denmark

consented to it being closed in 1795. The main body of the church collapsed, but the tower still stands as a perfect metaphor of the passing of time and the unbeatable strength of nature to which man can't oppose.

El Museo de Historia Local de Skagen (Skagen By-Og Egnsmuseum) es un museo al aire libre dedicado a mostrar cómo era la vida diaria de los habitantes de Skagen en el pasado y la forma en que usaban y eran afectados por los elementos naturales.

Tiene casitas de época decoradas tal cual debían ser antiguamente y un auténtico molino de viento de madera.

Skagen Local History Museum (Skagen By-Og Egnsmuseum) is an open air museum that focuses on the daily life of local Skagen people in the past and the way they used and were affected by the elements.

It has small houses decorated just like they were in the old days and an authentic wooden windmill.

Este es el Hvide Fyr o Faro Blanco, cerca de la cabaña de Bodil y Gunnar. Fue el faro de Skagen de 1747 a 1858 cuando fue reemplazado por el 'Faro Gris' que ya hemos visto.

This is the Hvide Fyr or White Light, near Bodil & Gunnar's summer cabin. It was Skagen's lighthouse from 1747 to 1858 when it was replaced by the 'Grey Lighthouse' that we've seen before.

Ya viajamos hacia Hanstholm (250 km), siguiendo al auto de Maiibritt y Egon con Gunnar y familia que nos acompañan especialmente para despedirnos cuando subamos al ferry.

We're already on our road to Hanstholm (250 km), following Maiibritt & Egon's car with Gunnar and family who accompany us specially to say good-bye when we get onto the ferry.

Como en todo el resto de Dinamarca, cerca de Skagen hay innumerables molinos de viento esparcidos -solos o en grupos-a lo largo y ancho de la campiña. Dinamarca ha sido pionera en la utilización de la energía eólica y actualmente

el 20% de la electricidad que consume el país proviene de molinos como éstos.

Like in all the rest of Denmark, near Skagen ther are countless windmills scattered -alone or in groups-all along the countryside. Denmark has been a pioneer in the use of wind power and at present

20% of the electricity consumed in the country is produced in windmills like these.
