MIC - Tambola

Yes it rained on the evening of 25th June, there was

a downpour and drenched everyone, but, with cash

dividends, gift coupons and vouchers and pleasant

memories.

We thought that the rain God would play spoilsport,

dampening the spirits but astonishingly nobody was

bogged down by the rain and expectations soared

even higher.

The atmosphere looked festive ,with television

star Mr. Abhishek (Lead player in many TV Tamil

Serials) and his crew rendering popular Tamil and

Hindi film numbers catering to the large number of

members ,that are passionate about this game “ The

Tambola”.

When rain interrupted, one round of Tambola was

over, and Rs.40, 000/-cash and gift vouchers were

given away as prize money. Well, some of us

thought that the evening which started with a bang

would end in a whimper, but eh! , that was not to

be! The entire crowd just migrated onto the

Verandah, pulled up chairs and tables and settled

down comfortably. The music band followed suit.

And the game began with renewed enthusiasm ,

remember the stakes were high.

Three more rounds, and in all prizes worth

Rs.1, 50,000 in hard cash was disbursed, besides

attractive gifts, gift vouchers, coupons etc. Every one

said it was truly a memorable “maha tambola”.

The tambola committee would like to appreciate and

thank the following:

For sponsoring gift articles, gift coupons, etc.

M/s. Arun Nadkarni, Raman Khanna, James Fredrick,

Rajesh Chimandas, Deepak Chordia,

Imran Currimbhoy, Ramesh, Tarun Agarwal and

Vivish George.

For conducting the games: M/s. Prem Kinger, Ramesh

Tulsidas and Koshy Thomas.

A very special thanks to the father of tambola Mr.

Ramakrishnan.

Thanks are also due to all the committee members ,

staff from various departments of the club – catering,

bar, electrical and maintenance.

The I Bar was rocking! The Beer Fest at The I Bar was

a complete blast. David Pascal our special

performer for the event was at his sizzling best.

Showed us why his voice is often termed ‘the voice

of an angel’! Truly gifted. The voice chameleon that

he is, got under the skin of every song he sang from

rock to retro and pop to country! He had members

up and about in a frenzy.

The I Bar thanks its chief sponsor for this event

Kingfisher for helping in putting together yet

another ‘exclusive’ The I Bar event. As always thanks

to all Managing Committee, The I Bar Staff, Prithvi

Audio for sound and all others who made this event

possible.

Special thanks to Mr. Vivish George for his support

and help in conducting this event. Till the next

one...Ciao!

This was the second year of the shuttle tournament of The

Presidency Club and hence the term Version 2.0! We would

not call it a tournament but a carnival . a meeting of families,

spouses, dependents and of course the members. We had the

Logan family, Sarafs, Bathras, Bhasins , Baggas, Sachdevs..... the

list can go on. The kids we must add, had a blast wanting to

out do each other showing off their skills and proving that

they have become better players since last year.

Mr. Naresh Lalwani got the ball rolling he spontaneously came

forward and offered to sponsor the prizes for this years

tournament. We got immense support from all quarters and

to name a few; Mr. Rajesh Bellani , Mr. Sumit Kalra , Mr. Karthik

Balaji , Kwality Walls, Mr. Senthil, Coke , Mr. Vivek Sachdev and

New changing room adjacent to the lift room of the first floor of the gym area has been opened for

members use.

New Sony Music systems installed in both the gym rooms.

Our Gym summer coaching camp was conducted in two batches, both generating very good response

from members. First & second batches completed on 15.06.2008. 31 dependents benefited from the

camp.

“A healthy mind rests in a Health body” and the best way to start is by catching them young. The

workout of the summer camp designed for children was primarily for weight reduction with an overall

toning of the body. We are extremely happy as the children have shown great enthusiasm and dedica-

tion during the camp.

“A thousand mile journey begins with a step” and the kids who have participated and performed

excellently during the camp have taken that step and we congratulate the kids for making a sincere

efforts towards building a healthy body at an early age to stand.
