THE ORANGE COUNTY MUSTANG CLUB In 1987 a group of individuals, who appreciated the beauty and performance of the Ford Mustang, joined together to form the Orange County Mustang Club. Their purpose was to promote the restoration, preservation and enjoyment of the Ford Mustang. To perpetuate this goal members, pay early dues, meet monthly, promote car shows, hold social activities, take cruises, and attend parades and other activities to foster their love for the Ford Mustang. Any person who owns or appreciates the Ford Mustang, no matter what model or year, is welcome to join, Ownership is not obligatory, but enthusiasm is.

A MESSAGE FROM YOUR PRESIDENT
Welcome to Spring and wonderful weather for car shows and our annual picnic. We had great turn-outs at several events this Past month, culminating in a fun day yesterday at the Benedict Castle Car Show in Riverside. As I write this, I am a bit worn out from all the activity and the “herding of cats” that being in a leadership position in the OCMC brings. But at the same time, I and the rest of our Board are very energized by the new- found enthusiasm being shown by the membership. The enthusiasm was very evident at the Classic Car Show held a few weeks back at the Orange County Fairgrounds. Not only did we have a lot of members and their cars present; we were able to sign up at least 30 new members! Our Membership Chairman Teri Sulser worked so hard to get all of this processed, and deserves every member’s thanks for all the work she does to keep up with our 450 or so members. We are back to growing again, and I’ll let her give you all the details at the April general meeting. VP Paul will also update us on events, and tell you who won awards this past month. I don’t mean to brag but……. With the club growing once again, we are experiencing some growing pains. One of the issues the Board is addressing is the concern that our general meeting attendance is outpacing the room capacity at Zito’s. We are looking into ways to get more space for our meetings, and beginning to explore alternatives if we cannot all fit into Zito’s. I know this issue has come up with previous Boards; I just want to let you know that we are addressing the problem. We will report back to you with any proposed changes. Speaking of changes, the proposed new bylaws are posted for general viewing on our website. They appear under their own caption, just click on. No password is necessary. The Board has received little input to date. I will attempt to answer any questions you may have at the April general meeting. We as a Board intend to vote on the proposal at the April board meeting. Speaking of our website, I apologize for it being down for a few days this week. As of Sunday night March 31, it is back in service. The renewal notices from Go Daddy were sent to a past board member and not forwarded to anyone on the current Board, hence the subscription lapsed on March 25. Had we had notice, we would have promptly renewed, but now we are good for 5 more years. All is well!! SEE YOU ALL AT THE PICNIC APRIL 28!!!! It will be FUN!! Craig Kamansky, OCMC President

Chat and Chew March 19, 2019
Sad news for Chat and Chew regulars and OCMC. We learned that the owner of the Waterfront Café, K.C., suddenly passed away a few weeks ago of leukemia. He will be missed. We passed a card around the table at our March breakfast. Had another nice crowd with sixteen attending. Everett Escobar joined us for the first time. Thanks to Steve and Deb Pavich for donating a Fab Fords clock and Lorraine Grant for donating some Tupperware for the C and C drawing. Be sure to join us next time for good food and good conversation!

Meet our new member Steve Surges I’ve been a member of OCMC for 9 years. My late wife once said, “The only reason I went out with you was because of your car.” It’s a true 50-year-old car, a ’69 Mustang Mach 1, the only one built that year in that model and body style. I keep it in showroom condition. I’ve replaced the steering wheel, fixed a small dent and bubbled paint, added optional louvers on the back glass and a spoiler on the rear deck. This red, eye-stopper car is called “my pride and joy.” My daughter and grandson call it “PaPa’s race car.”

BENEDICT CASTLE CAR SHOW – w/Teen Challenge

I’m working on a 1966 Mustang coupe that I found on OfferUp and bought Feb. 18, 2019. This beautiful car has a straight body but that was about it. The rest was in crates. So far I had the 302 engine rebuilt. Next up is the C4 transmission.

Ford Responds to Model Y Reveal With Cryptic Mustang Tweet
But what does it mean? The biggest news from yesterday (and really all week) was that Tesla revealed the Model Y. After the presentation, we even got to go for a ride in Tesla's upcoming CUV. But about an hour before that event began, Ford tweeted out something cryptic—a blue Mustang logo with the caption, "Hold your horses."
Considering the timing, it was hard not to assume Ford's tweet was a response to the Model Y reveal. But it's also not entirely clear what was being teased. The most obvious answer would be the hybrid Mustang that Ford has said we'll see sometime next year. But at the same time, even if it's a plug-in hybrid with GT350-like power, the hybrid Mustang isn't what we'd call a Model Y competitor. After all, one is a two-door sports car, while the other is a fully electric crossover.
Then again, that logo looks identical to the one Ford showed in a previous teaser. At the time, we assumed the car we were looking at was the hybrid Mustang, but if there's an internal combustion engine under that hood, the mostly solid grille doesn't look like it would let nearly enough air in. It's a long shot, but perhaps Ford's developing a fully electric Mustang to sell alongside the hybrid.
It's also possible the vehicle Ford is teasing isn't a traditional Mustang at all. Ford has said it plans to introduce an electric crossover, originally called the Mach 1, with a design that's been heavily influenced by the Mustang. And based on the teaser we've seen of the rear end, it looks a lot like a Mustang with a taller greenhouse. Teasing your own electric crossover after another electric crossover debuts makes a lot of sense, but we'll just have to wait and see what Ford has in store Source: Ford via Twitter
Answers to Page 13 - Brain Teasers (no cheating—go straight to page 13) 1. They all do. 2. I can predict the score BEFORE it begins. Well, the score before any football game is always zero to zero! 3. Jimmy. "JIMMY'S MOTHER had 4 children"! 4. Whatever color your hair is! Remember, you are the bus driver! 5. Neither. Both weigh a pound! 6. There are several, and there could be more: 1. job, Job 2. herb, Herb 3. polish, Polish 7. A river! 8. A sponge 9. Mt. Everest. It was still the highest in the world - it just hadn't been discovered yet! 10. 6. 3 for each team.

Brain Teasers
1. In a year there are 12 months. 7 months have 31 days. How many months have 28 days? 2. I do not have any special powers, but I can predict the score of any football game before it begins. How
can I do this? 3. Jimmy's mother had 4 children. She named the first Monday. Named the second Tuesday. The third is
named Wednesday. What is the name of the fourth child? 4. You are driving a bus. At the first stop, 2 women get on. The second stop, 3 men get on and 1 woman
gets off. Third stop, 3 kids and their mom get on, and a man gets off. The bus is grey, and it is raining outside. What color is the bus drivers hair?
5. Which is heavier? A pound of feathers, or a pound of rocks? 6. What words are pronounced differently by merely capitalizing the first letter? 7. What can run but never walks, has a mouth but never speaks, has a head but never weeps, and has a
bed but never sleeps? 8. What is full of holes but can still hold water? 9. Before Mt. Everest was discovered, what was the highest mountain in the world? 10. In baseball, how many outs are there in an inning?
