A NIGHT OF CELEBRATION AND THANKS Like a baby, milestones are always awaited and recorded. August 17 , 2010 marked the First Regular meeting of Rotary Club of Makati Olympia. While as a provisional club it held meetings regularly since June 5 of this year, (these were 11 organizational meetings all in all), these were aimed to prepare the members to be full- pledged Rotarians. Tuesday's meeting was special. It was a celebration, a thanksgiving for the chartering of the club. Everyone was in high spirits and the family of the Rotary Club of Makati Olympia was complete. Sponsored partners who are yet to be registered with RI like the 3 Rotaract Clubs, 3 Interact Cubs, 2 RCCS and 1 Rotakid were all represented by their respective charter presidents and officers. Mother Clubs RC Makati Central's PDG Butch Francisco and Lady Maling and RC Makati Urandeta's DGSR Sue Sta Maria, Dir. Mina Follosco and Rtn. Lorraine Inigo were also in attendance. Highlight of the event was the learning session facilitated by PDG Butch Francisco who discussed the duties and responsibilities of members. It was a most appropriate topic for the occasion. PDG Butch exhorted everyone that membership in Rotary carries with it big responsibilities. He summed up these responsibilities as COLA (Care, Obedience, Loyalty and Attention). After his talk, PDG Butch gifted RCMO with the Rotary International banner. DGSR Sue gave her message of congratulations to her new "baby". In return, RCMO paid tribute to the persons - PDG Butch and Maling and DGSR Sue - who were instrumental in its being. Members of the Rotaract Club of Teatro de Olympia filled the night with music. They serenaded the new Rotarians and guests and made the evening truly memorable. A NIGHT OF CELEBRATION AND

THANKS

Like a baby, milestones are always

awaited and recorded. August 17 ,

2010 marked the First Regular meeting

of Rotary Club of Makati Olympia.

While as a provisional club it held

meetings regularly since June 5 of this

year, (these were 11 organizational

meetings all in all), these were aimed

to prepare the members to be full-

pledged Rotarians.

Tuesday's meeting was special. It was

a celebration, a thanksgiving for the

chartering of the club. Everyone was

in high spirits and the family of the

Rotary Club of Makati Olympia was

complete. Sponsored partners who are

yet to be registered with RI like the 3

Rotaract Clubs, 3 Interact Cubs, 2

RCCS and 1 Rotakid were all

represented by their respective charter

presidents and officers. Mother Clubs

RC Makati Central's PDG Butch

Francisco and Lady Maling and RC

Maria, Dir. Mina Follosco and Rtn.

summed up these responsibilities as

COLA (Care, Obedience, Loyalty and

Attention).

After his talk, PDG Butch gifted

RCMO with the Rotary International

banner. DGSR Sue gave her message

of congratulations to her new "baby".

In return, RCMO paid tribute to the

persons - PDG Butch and Maling and

its being.

Members of the Rotaract Club of

Teatro de Olympia filled the night with

My dear Fellow Olympians,

I would like to dedi-

cate this issue to the

three persons most

dear to me who have

helped me, my co-

founders and all of us

make the dream to

charter RCMO a reali-

ty.

From 2003, the magic of Rotary has caught

me unguarded and I found myself

enveloped in it. Like anything, though, not

even the best of intentions and the passion

to serve can keep one in this magical

state. It is in these instances that one

needs the guidance of friends who would

always lead the way for him/her find the

right path.

RY 2006 - 2007 was a most memorable

year for me. My Presidency was blessed

with a Governor and a beautiful first lady

who taught me how to be president. Little

did I know then, that it was just a

rehearsal, a preparation for a bigger role -

that is to be a Charter President. I have

always listened and heeded to the counsel

of PDG Butch and Maling. When I turned

to them for guidance, they always helped

me make the right decisions.

So with DGSR Sue. Beyond the long title in

her name and the accomplished person

that she is, I am truly blessed to have her

as my mentor and friend.

It was therefore like fate again that the first time

RCMO would be meeting as a duly chartered club,

the three of them would be sharing the night with

us. They were there when RCMO was just but a

dream, a hope to cling to and a symbol of faith in

Rotary. To you my dearest Olympians, I share

how important they are to me because without

them, I do not know if there is an RCMO today.

So the songs that filled the night, the roses, the

poppers and confetti are for you our dearest

Kapamilya, Kapuso and Kapangarap.

Thank you for dreaming with us. Thank you for

helping us make it a reality. Please walk with us

some more as we embark in our new journey in

service in the new club we call our own.
