Officer and Chair Reports
REPORT FROM JOHN NAUGHTON, HUNT TEST CHAIRMAN:
Spring 2012 Hunt Test Report
The Spring Hunt Test was held on March 17-18, 2012, at McKee-Beshers at the Sycamore Landing Road Pavilion. We had great weather both days. On Saturday, the early braces broke out into the fog, but the day warmed up and cleared out. Sunday was slightly cooler but it was a beautiful weekend to be outdoors! We ran 70 dogs (42 Master/Senior and 28 Junior) over the weekend events. Saturday was St. Patrick’s Day, so the Pavilion and head table were decorated accordingly. Everybody is Irish on St. Pat’s Day! We spent the evening at O’Malleys Pub at the Holiday Inn in Gaithersburg for the Judges’ Appreciation Dinner with great company! There were a few dogs that finished their Junior title at the event. Congrats to: Patricia Engle & Becky Feigh - Striker (M-GSP) - handled by Susan Massart, Dave & Kellie Wolf – Piper (F-Vizsla) - handled by Dave Wolf, and Jessica Conaway – Bree (F-Eng Setter) – handled by Jessica Conaway. We need more Junior dogs to attend now that some have moved on! Where are all the puppies!? Bring ‘em on! Congratulations also go out to Don Brown and his dog Show-Von (F-Vizsla) for her first Master ribbon, and a warm welcome and shout-out to new members Danny & Marion Sirk. Their dog Ellie (F-GWP) received a ribbon both days in Junior and received all 10’s on Sunday! That was fantastic! I’m sorry if I missed any milestones, but you have to let us know! We love posting these milestones! Finally, heartfelt thanks to all the club members and volunteers who donated their time and efforts into making this event happen. We could not have done it without all of you. Beth Ritchie donated dessert squares to be sold in the kitchen, Wayne Kulig brought shotgun shells for the raffle, Dick Cullerton donated to the raffle also, and Mike Thompson donated his delivery fee for the birds for our event. All of your donations were greatly appreciated! Thanks to our gunners (Wayne Kulig, Pat Dady, and Herb Brown), marshals (John Warren, Dick Cullerton, Susan Massart, and Parry Tomlin) and bird planters (Parry Tomlin, Lannie Seymour, Jeff Rachel, John Leighman, Pat Dady and his horse Lightning, and anyone else that helped out!). You all did a wonderful job! Thanks to our kitchen staff: John Warren for purchasing all the food for us (and making some delicious pulled pork sandwiches!) and Carolyn Felter for cooking both days (and Carolyn and Jim donated food items to the kitchen as well). We had some good food at the event!! Thanks to Green Lawn Stables for providing the horses for event and last but not least, a big thank you to all of the judges! Mike McCleary, Laurie McCarty, Linda Pruitt, Hunter Shelley, and Kim Lewis all did a fantastic and professional job. We hope we didn’t forget anybody as running the event can get crazy, but know that all your help was very much appreciated. Right now, it’s past bedtime………………………………..see you in the Fal for the Hunt Test on Sept. 22-23, 2012!! John & Debbie Naughton, Hunt Test Chair and Secretary

REPORT FROM LANNIE SEYMOUR on MDGSP Training Day 2012
Mason Dixon Training Day Quotes from the Day
I want to take this opportunity to THANK you and everyone
who helped us at the training. I learned a great deal. I hope to
hear from you soon.
Carol
Thanks for coordinating an excellent training day. I can only
speak from the novice fields but it appeared everyone got
valuable training and advice.
Jeff
We had a wonderful time and cannot wait to test Zeke on Sunday.
Phil and Tara
On behalf of the Mason-Dixon GSP Club I want to thank you all for making our Spring Training Day a
successful and positive experience. Lannie Seymour, John Naughton, and the rest of the MDGSPC
appreciate the skills, experience, and knowledge you graciously shared on Saturday. I firmly believe the
seeds you planted will serve the participants very well in the months and hopefully years to come
Jeff
I want to personally thank all of you for your contribution to the success of this event. I could not have
made it as successful, without the special talents each of you brought to this event. Your willingness to
volunteer is testament to your dedication to dogs, but more important the great respect we have have for
each other.
Lannie

Walking Field Trial Results – March 24-25,2012, McKee Beshers WMA,
Poolesville, MD It’s over and the dust is settling…….Thanks to EVERYONE for coming and making the
trial such a huge success, despite the rain and mud! We had 113 entries from as far away as Green Bay, WI…..our biggest Walking Field Trial ever. All Gun Dog stakes were "majors" (two 4 pt and two 3 pt). We even had a 17 dog Amateur Walking Derby, making the future really look bright with the “gun dogs” of the future! To all the owners and handlers for bringing their dogs and providing fun times and good conversation....a heartfelt, “THANKS”. To our judges for their devotion of time and efforts....and especially to Kevin Arber for judging 16 braces straight on Saturday to give a new meaning to being a "hard as...". To Brian Wayson, winner of the 50/50 raffle, a big “THANK YOU” for a cash donation back to the Club. To Dick Cullerton for being such a tremendous help by relieving me of the “Admin Desk”… To Nancy Huyser and John Warren for long hours in the “kitchen” ….too many more people to individually name, but…To all the many people who planted birds, got handlers/dogs to the break away, set up the big tent, the many who were simply "gophers", when we needed them ...I can never express adequately in mere words my personal appreciation. None of this could have happened without all of you…until next year – Pat Dady, Walking Field Trial Chair.

Patton’s farm features virtually unlimited beautiful grass fields to run and a pond to swim your dog. This
