Adalodgehastalkedaboutupgradingsomeappliancesinthekitchenwestartedwiththefridgesfirst.Therangesalsoareolderandshowingtheirage.Thestoveswerenexton the list the Rebekah’s talked about sharing the costwiththeOddFellows.MargaretandVirginiahaveusedthemalotovertheyears.MargaretOdletookchargeoftheprojectknowingwhatwouldworkbestinthekitchen.MargaretOdledonatedbothbrandnewrangestothelodgeinmemoryoftheOdlefamilybetweenthemtheyhave300yearsandcounting.DennisNiehoffwillberepaintingtherangehoodswhitesothekitchenappliancesallmatch.AdalodgewillbeplacingaplaqueinthekitcheninrecognitionofMargretandherfamilyservicetotheorder.

Just A Rambling Note From The Grand Secretary
Thing have been busy here at Grand Lodge. Wehavehad thedrainpipe leakandcausedamage to thebuilding.DuetosomanyotherpeopleinIdahohavingthesameproblem,thedisasterandcleanupcrewsandroofersaresobackeduptheGrandMasterandGrandWardenpitchedinandhelpedwiththecleanup.IhopewehavethebuildingbacktogetherbeforetheendofFebruary. I have only seen a few election reports turned inthey were due back to Grand Lodge before December31. I have only seen a few yearend reports turned intheyneedtobeturnedinbeforeFebruary15.IfyouarehavingtroublefillingoutyourreportPLEASECALLMEATGRANDLODGE. HaveyourLodgeTrusteesreviewedyourinsurancepolicy,withsomeofthelodgegettingdamagedbythecoldweather,makesureyouhaveenoughcoverage.Thecodeofgenerallawupdateshavebeenorderedandshouldbeinsoon,IwillbemailingthemoutsoonasIreceivethem,everyoneshouldhavereceivedthejournalifyouhavenotpleaseletmeknow.Districtmeetingwillbestartingsoon,Ihopetoseesomenewfaces.

DearBrothersandSisters, I happened to find an old clipping I used as anArthritis Counsellor several years ago.I’m not going toquoteitbutuseittomakesomesuggestionsIthinkmostofourreadersandIcoulduse. Mother was right. “Stand up straight.” I can seeeveryoneadjustingtheirposturenow.Itmakesyoulookbetterandfeelbetter. Exerciseregularly. It isoneof thebestpracticesforpeoplewithosteoarthritis. Youdon’tneedtogotothegymorbuyexpensiveequipment. Justkeepmoving. Walkupanddownthehall, stretchwheneveryou feel tiredorwhenreach forsomething.Makingthebedissuperexercise. Paceyourself.Don’toverdo.Andrestifyoutire,(butnottoolong)anddoitagain. Avoidrepetitivemotion,likehammeringorstirringifyouhavesorearmsorhands. Takeyourmedsfaithfullyandkeepagoodattitude.Canyouvisualizeyourblessings?

Winter Weather takes its toll on some of our local lodges
We have had some cold weather this year.ThathastakenitstollPayettebuildinghadapipeburstinthemen’s room bathroom. The water leaked down to thebasementdamagingtheirrenter’soffice. GrandLodgebuildinghadtheroofdrainpipefreezeupandwatercomeintothebuildingdowntothekitchenand front conference room. The ceiling in both roomsfelldown.Weareworkingonhaving thebuildingbacktogetherbyFebruary.Nampa Lodge Roof drain froze up. We had the frontregaliaroomgetverywet.Itwascominginsomuchthatwaterwasmakingitswaydowntoour12thAveentrance.Thenfreezingthedoorshutcausingsomeproblemswiththedoor.Thenwaterfromtheback-alleywatermadeitswaytooneofrenter’sbasementandstartedto fillwithwaterduetoadrainpluggedup. Orofino has a structure issue with their trusses.Thepoorweatherismakingtheproblemworseandtheymay lose the roof we are hoping they don’t lose therebuilding.Have your building trustees check your building forpossibleproblemsnowisalsoagoodtimetocheckyourinsuranceandcoverage.

DearSistersandBrothers; Installationsarecompleted.CongratulationstoalloftheOfficerselectedineachofthelodges.I“HOPE”yourlodgeenjoysthesmallgiftthatIsentandthatyour“futureisbrightlydisplayed”. NowitisgettingclosetowhenIwillstartmyvisitstothelodges.IamgettingallofmythingsinorderandIamasexcitedasalittlekidgoingtoDisneyLandforthefirsttime. If youhavememberswhodonot regularlyattendmeetings, have been ill, or live in an Assisted Livinghome;pleaseaskiftheywouldlikemetovisit.AndthenmakearrangementsformetovisitthemwhileIaminyourarea. Iameager tohearof thecommunityprojectsyouhaveinyourlodge.Weshouldshareanyinformationthathasbeensuccessfulinyourlodgewithallofthelodges.Itispossiblethatwhatworksinyourareacouldbesuccessfulinotherpartsofthestate.Itisworthatry,nottomentionagoodwaytogetthenameofOddFellowshipoutintheCommunity.

DearMembers, Ihopethateveryoneisdoingwellwithallthiscrazywinter weather that we have been having. I know thatsome of our older lodge buildings have not held up sowell to thiswinterweather. I know thatbeinga trusteeforthelodgeisaveryimportantjobandonethatIhavebeendoingalotrecently.IhopetomakemyofficialvisittoPortneufwithmyvisittoPayettebeingcanceledduetotheweatherandtheunfortunatefloodingthathappenedintheirlodgehall.I’msureallthelodgesarethinkingofwaystokeepactiveintheircommunity.AndIhopethatallthetrusteesaremakingsurethatallofourolderbuildingsarebeenwelltakencareof. Everyone should be finished with installation ofofficersandpreparingfortheirDistrictmeetings.IhopethatallofmyDistrictDeputieshavegoodmeetingsplannedfortheirDistricts.Ihavefaiththattheywilldoagreatjobinpreparingforthesemeetings.IamplanningonattendingasmanyDistrictMeetingsasIcan.I’mlookingforwardtohavingagoodattendanceatthedistrictmeetings. I’msurethatallof themembersof the lodgesarethinking of ways that their lodge can stay active in thecommunityandattractnewmembersintothelodge.I’mgoing toendmy letter thismonthwithastoryaboutanelephant. As a man walked through a village he seen anelephantwithonlyasmallropetiedarounditsfrontfoot.He surely thought that the elephant would be able toeasilybreakfree.Wonderingwhyitdidn’theaskedthetrainerwhy theelephantwassoeasily restrained. Thetrainer said that when the elephant was small the ropewasenoughtokeepitfromleavingsowhenitgotolderitwasconditionedtobelievethatitcouldnotgetaway.So,theybelievetheropecanstillholdthemsotheynevertrytobreakfree. I hope all the members are doing well and lookforwardtoseeingallofyou.

Nampa Lodge Started in 1892
Nampa Lodge #40 & Colfax #24
Nampa - Nampa Lodge No. 40 wasgranted a charter on October 12, 1892by Grand Master Frank B. Willis. GrandSecretary was A.K. Steunenberg. TheReynoldsLodgeNo.99ofBrunzell, Idahowas consolidated with Nampa Lodge No.40onMarch4,1920. The present building was built in1906.Itwasremodeledlaterandadditionalstairwayaddedin1960.Therentalstoreswereallremodeledandacanopeaddedin1963.WiththehelpoftheRebekahsisters,a chair lift was purchased and installed in1969-70. When a patriotic organization G.A.Hobert Post and Auxiliary, The WomensReliefCorp,hadnoplacetomeet,theOddFellows offered them free rent as long asthey wished. Throughout the years manyotherorganizationshavemetintheHall,butnowonlyOddFellowsandRebekahsmeetthere. In thisBicentennialyeat, thepresentofficersare: JohnWellman,NobleGrand;Charles Erovick, Vice-Grand; Red. Sed.William Steele; Fin.Sec. Joe Cox; Tres.FloydBetts.
