WENDELL, IDAHO JULY 14, 2007 Eleven recruits attended a special Mustering In session to become formal members of the Patriarchs Militant I.O.O.F. Attending members of the Department Council of Idaho hosted and conducted the ceremony at the Odd Fellows Lodge Hall in Wendell, Idaho on Saturday, July 14 th . This was a very special occasion due to members from Utah and Idaho desiring to have the formal Mustering In ceremony so they could join a Canton. Department Commander Maj. Gen. Floyd Hensley to Idaho made the arrange- ments for this ceremony to be performed. Utah had two (2) men and three (3) ladies present and Idaho had four (4) men and two (2) ladies present to be Mustered In. It was just a little warm, however, the ceremony was conferred with the staff in proper Class A attire as well as appropriate robes. The members on the Degree team were from Caldwell, Boise, and Idaho Falls, Idaho. Gen. OnMay13th,amemorialservicewasheldintheLodgeHallofAda#3forMalcolmD.Hodges.Hediedathomeintheearlymorn-inghoursofMay7,2007fromcardiacarrest.HewasbornJune3,1938.Heissurvivedbyhisbeloveddaughter,Anne,ofBoise.MalcolmjoinedAdaLodge#3inNovember1978andwasamemberofIdahoEncampmentandUnityRebekahLodge#8. In1997,MalcolmmovedtoMariposa,Cali-forniatotakecareofhisailingbrother.Afterhisbrother’sdeath,Malcolmcontinuedtocareforhiselderlymotheruntilshedied.Afterhelpingtosettlehismother’sestate,hereturnedtoBoisein2002tobenearhisdaughter,Anne.WhileinMariposa,California,hejoinedtheMari-posaLodge#39I.O.O.F.,asanassociatemem-ber. KEEPING BUSY On May 21st, Rebekahs hosted the Smith FamilyReunion.Approximately50personswereservedsupperandbreakfast. DuringtheJulyFourthholidays,GarnetRebekah120membersannually spend threedaysservingcoffeeandcookiestotiredtravelersattheSheepCreekRestArea,southofRiggins.Cookiesarepreparedinadvance,andmembersvolunteertohelpserve.Thisyearthosegreet-ingthetravelersincludedSueAnnGruell,SandyLarson,PattySolberg,LolaMaxwell,BerneiceMorell,andBarneyandMaryFoster.Theyarecommendedforthelonghourstheyputin,especiallywhentemperatureshoveredaround100°F.Thedonationsareusedtosupportscholarshipsforworthystudents,butthemostsatisfactionistheknowl-edgethatthroughthissimplegesturewemayhavesavedlives.

PAPER FOLDINGMORE THAN A NUISANCE

I’msureyouallwereannoyedwiththefoldedmessofthelastissueofthepaper.Iamsorry,butitwasnecessary.Therecentpostalrateincrease,althoughminorforletters,resultedinanenormousincreaseforourpaper.Ourpost-agewouldhavealmostdoubled.But,workingwiththeHammettpostmaster,wecameupwiththeideaoffolding.Byreducingthesizeofthepapertofallwithintheparametersoflettersize,wecouldavoidthecostlyincreaseinpostage.We tried several folding technics, trying to find the right combination that would meet the postal codes without causing a major reformat of our paper. This last, a tri-fold, fits within the specifications required by the post office and required very littlechangetothepaper. Soforthetimebeing,ourpaperwillbefoldedandifyoufeelannoyedorfrustratedbecauseofit,justremember,itsavesusmoney.Andifthatdon’twork,justthinkofyourpooreditorwhohastodoallthefolding!
