Camp sisters By Louise Morrissey

Whether your cabin has 8 girls or 15 girls, having cabin mates is like having sisters. Like sisters, you love each other despite the confusion over whose towel is whose. I interviewed some campers and asked them why they love their bunkmate

Me: What’s your favorite thing about your bunk-mate?

Emerson Crowley: She’s super funny and crazy

Me: Do you ever get into arguments with your bunk-mate?

Jameson Crowley: Not really.

Me: How much do you have in common with your bunkmate?

Taylor Brown: Not much but we get along just fine/

Sisters help you when you’re hurting and you can be who you really are around them and they’ll love you just the same.

If We Were Animals.. by Anna Vertin

There are a lot of animals out there. So I went around and asked campers what animal they would be if they were an animal. The most popular animal out of the people I asked was a dog. Sydney A. says that she would want to be a dog because “Dogs can beg for treats and be lazy.” Another Camper says that a perk of being a dog would be “being able to get away with stuff that people wouldn’t be able to get away with.” And Hattie says that she would like to be a dog because she “wouldn’t have to do chores.” Georgia says that she would like to be a Blobfish. She says that It would be fun “chilling and blobbing around the ocean.” Caroline Anderson E. got really creative and she said she would want to be an Ice wing Dragon (from Wings of Fire, the book). She says that “it would be really Fun to freeze peoples heads off.” Eva C. says she would be a Monkey so that she could “Climb in trees all day and eat bananas.” And finally, Helen says that she would want to be a flamingo, stating that she would like to be “Pink and graceful.”

Courage a poem by Emmy Cerveny

An eaglet looks up at an eagle soaring through the sky,She longs to soar and fly.The eagle swoops down to catch a fish,The eaglet try, try, tries to fulfill her wish.

A gunshot fills her ears— Her foot is gone, she thinks she will never look up to her peers,But she kept try, try, tryingAnd now she is fly, fly, flying.

Don’t let someone shoot your dream,God will shine His love on you like a beam.So lift up your wings to fly,And your courage will ring out like an eagle’s cry—

It rings out courage, courage, courage.

A Really Random Story Lillie and Betts

One Sunday morning, a little girl named Claire went to her favorite candy store. She couldn’t decide what to choose as she went all around the store, thinking about eating yummy candy in her room while she read her favorite book. Finally she came to something she had never seen before called “Magic Gummy Bear”. She bought the candy and headed home. She ate a bright purple Gummy Bear and she said “Yummy!” and “I am thirsty” and all of a sudden she turned into a water bottle. Then Claire said “I want to be a human” and she was human. Claire figured out what was going on, saying “I THINK THESE CANDIES ARE MAGIC!?” and she always got those gummy bears ever since.

The Greystone Girl by: Sutton

Once upon a time, there was a little girl named Ranlaide. She would ride her bike to camp every day! Until one day she fell off her bike and got really hurt. So she tried to walk there but she just couldn’t so she decided to be a Greystone girl and believed in herself and walked there. Then when she got to Greystone, she went to the Health Hut and the nurses there helped her. Then she wasn’t hurt anymore! Then she went to her cabin and her counselor hugged her and talked to her. Then she got in her bed and Ranlaide had a good sleep and in the morning she did her subjects. The End

The Greystone DragonA long, long time ago at Greystone, there was a dragon named Ebony. One day, Ebony woke up during August camp. It was night time, and Ebony crept towards Tentalow 1. He reached his hand into the Tentalow. Suddenly, soldiers came charging out of the lower Tentalow. Ebony had been tricked! The counselors had known he would attack and had gotten the campers out and replaced them with soldiers! Ebony roared and tried to scratch one with his hand. The sol-dier sliced off the hand with his sword. The rest of the soldiers had sneaked up behind him and cut off his tail. Ebony howled in pain. He swung his leg at one but missed. By then, all the camp-ers were awake. They had come out of their cab-ins with their counselors to watch. Ebony tried to hurt all of them. They went back into their cabins. Suddenly, one soldier stabbed Ebony in the heart. Ebony was no more. The next day, the camp had a celebration. The End.

Favorite Greystone Foods by Erin Weizenecker

I went around asking people what their favorite food was. The most food that was not a dessert, it was bread. I also asked the people that I inter-viewed what is your favorite dessert. Four people out of the nine people I interviewed liked bread that was not a dessert. OCP (Oreo Cream Pie) had five votes out of the nine people. I asked also if they liked cooking or watching cooking shows. They all said yes. I agree with them I do like cook-ing. Why? I think they all said yes because when you are cooking you do not have to follow any rules. You just go for it unless it is a recipe. I asked a girl in my cabin also these ques-tions, but I asked one different question, what do you like most about cooking? “ I like that I can do whatever I want to instead of having to follow rules that are not cleaning up rules,” she said. Bread and OCP (Oreo Cream Pie) was favorites out of nine people and I agree with all nine of them. There were more foods and desserts that people had like as a dessert Dirt. Dirt is like a really good bread pudding with gummy worms. I also like that, but I still like OCP (Oreo Cream Pie).

SUMMER FUN AT CAMP GREYSTONE by Bea Tobin Greystone is a great camp for girls well I love it so much I have a story for my opening day story at camp as i pass through the Greystone gates I am at home because the activities and fun totally starts as I pass through the gates I have a great feeling that my friends and my counselors are going to be nice and loving. A nice lady come s to my dads car and they would take my bags after that we do a tradition at camp they do a count of on the opening day then I run to my cabin and it was TU10 and then I see my pen pal and my counselor Kaite Ball and pen pal was Camille Henderson then we talk about the camp and we go to the swim test. At camp everybody is super cool, awesome, and nice. I do not know anybody that is mean to me. The activities at camp are Waterpark, Gym-nastics, Zumba, Sailing, Cooking, Creative Writing, and much more, so I would say that camp is the total best camp ever.

The Adventure of Lilly and the Elf by Mary Eleanor Gouch

Chapter 1: Once upon a time, there was a girl. She lived in a village. and she had a best friend named Lucy, and her name was Lily. One day Lily heard a noise coming from the window. Her friend, Lucy, heard it too. When they looked, it was a villain robbing a little girl. But, the girl was Lucy’s sister, her name was Caroline. So, Lucy and Lily went on an adventure to find her. On their way, they met a big giant. He got Lucy. Lilly tried to get her back, but she met an elf. His name was Fred. He helped Lilly find Lucy and her sister. He told her, “You only have 48 hours until the giant will turn Lucy and her sister evil.” “Evil?” Lilly said. “They are going to turn Lucy and her little sister evil?” The elf and Lilly finally found the castle of the giant and they found out that the evil villain works for the giant. But it was not evil, it was good, but the giant turned the good guy into an evil villain. They fought the giant and got Lucy and her sister back. And they had a big party with a cake and with decorations and they danced for joy!

Chapter 2: Everybody heard of Lilly and the Elf saving the world. But one day, the giant returned, and kept turning people evil. Lilly and Lucy were glad that it was not their village. But they still had to help the other people in a different village. So Lilly and Lucy met the same little elf and they told the elf their news. So the elf helped them. On their way, a big lion jumped up and started attacking the elf. Lilly and Lucy tried to help the elf, but it was too late. The lion had the elf. But the good news is that the lion did not do any harmful things to the elf, except for jumping on him. So they followed the lion. When they got there, it was the village that the giant was turning evil. They turned the people good again by a magical flower the elf showed them on their way, and had a big celebration. They saved the elf from the lion and the giant turned the lion evil so when they turn the people good again, they turn the lion good again too, so that’s how they got the elf back. They got home and hugged their parents.

Chapter 3: Ever since Lilly saved the village from turning evil, their village came to their village to thank Lilly. Lilly was so excited that they were coming, so she set up a big plan to thank them for coming. And the plan was that she was going to set up a big party with a bunch of decorations, ice cream, and dancing. But when they came over something terrible happened. The giant came and started to attack their village and the other village because they came over to visit.Lilly went to go find the elves’ cave, and when she got there the elf ran out of his house and came right away then went back to their village to get Lucy to help. It took a long time to save two villag-es. So they went to go find the magical flower that helped them last time. So when they found the magical flower, two bodyguards were blocking it. The bodyguards belonged to the giant. So Lilly, the elf, and Lucy fought them off and got the flower. And saved the village from the giant. And had a big celebration like they always do when they save the world.

THE END!!! :)

Greystone Campers’ Favorite Activities Many people have their favorite Greystone activities. I have run into about four campers in my class and got their opinion. What I noticed that surprised me was that not very many camp-ers chose the same thing. Many of the campers had more than one favorite activity which shows how many great activities there are at camp. Out of the four campers that I interviewed only two said the same thing, which is Farm and Garden. Emmy and Margaret said that they loved learning about plants and animals and getting to pet them. Margaret also said she really enjoyed getting to interact with everything like getting to eat the different plants. Margaret also said that she enjoys Ceramics and Creative Writing. She says that she enjoys writing stories and making cool things in ceramics to take home. Another really similar activity to Farm and Garden is Dog Camp. Most of the people that choose dog camp said that they loved animals and getting to see them. But not everyone said that the animal activities were there favorite activity. Bea said that Greystone Groove was her favorite. She said she likes to dance and she can forget about all of her worries. Another person that said that her activity lets her forget about her worries is Lucy. Lucy says that her fa-vorite activity is Drama because she likes to sing and she can forget about everything and focus on singing. I think that each camper I interviewed has a great reason why there activity was their favorite. I recommend these activities to the future campers at Greystone.

Greystone Food Waste by Lorena Margain-Junco

So, how much food do Greystone Campers waste? We asked some kitchen staff and this is what they said:

Both of the kitchen staff that we asked agreed that on a scale from one to ten, one being the least and then being the most, Greystone Campers waste about a two on that scale. However, this is after a whole lot of training and composting.

The kitchen staff is specially trained by Gervais not to waste food. They go through lots of training, and, as one of the kitchen staff said, “Gervais is really good about training us not to waste food.”

Also, they compost a lot and use slop buckets. Slop buckets are where they put a lot of the wasted food to feed the pigs. This way the food goes back into the environment.

Misty the Magic Horse“Ding,” the bell rang for my first class. The sun shined down on my arms, burning the little hairs. I thought of how I didn’t put on sun screen the whole week. And how my arms were as red as a fresh picked strawberry. Then I thought of how much they burned. I sprinted to my class, with sweat dripping on every inch of my body. As I ran to my class, I felt some-thing slap on my wrist. I looked down. There was a neon orange wrist band. Then I remem-bered my counselor telling me I had riding first and second period. Then, I totally changed the direction I was running in to face the barn. As I ran, I could see the mini barn in the way distance. “Wow, the barn is a long way away!” I thought. The barn got bigger, and bigger, and bigger until it was right there in front of me. I went in. No one was there. I checked all the stalls until I saw the end stable. I was about to turn back, “what is the point,” I thought, then I heard a “Neigh!”. I looked in the last stall. In it was the most beautiful white horse. I looked at the name tag, “Misty,” I read aloud. I took Misty out of her stall. Then I rode Misty. She was fast and elegant. “Ding, dong, ding,” “The bell!” I said. I put the elegant white horse back. Then, I ran as fast as I could back to camp. As I saw camp come into view, I saw another barn. Then I ran up and asked someone, “what is that barn down there?” “That is the barn from 1806, it was burned down in a fire. No one has gone there since…

The Greystone Ghost By Caroline Aebersold, Betts Taubel, and Lillie Mccamy

Some people believe that there is a ghost that roams camp every day watching the campers do their fun activities. A few say they wrote notes to it and it wrote back. Some say they think they saw faces. All of this is just evidence. But remember, if this ghost is real, we know it is kind. The ghost is definitely not mean. It watches you to learn better manners, skills, and dance moves! The Greystone Ghost thinks that ev-erything is awesome just the way it is and it likes to give you hugs even if you cant feel them. WE HOPED YOU LIKED OUR ARTICLE!!!(did you like it?)

publix Ingles

“I love that Publix has restaurants within the store. Where I live, my Publix has a Dairy Queen in it. Also, the parking lot is nice. Their subs are fantastic. The pizza’s pretty good. The aisles are clean. And Publix has free cookies, does it get any better than that? Also they have samples that they are great at the Publix where I live they have a three story store the first they have the parking garage and the second floor there is he shopping and the third floor is restraunts I love it - Bea Tobin

“Ingles gives me life. Rain or shine, I can count on Ingles to be there for me. Need to excercise? Just take a jog around Ingles! Starbucks? Ingles. Milk? Hit up Ingles. Support local farmers, AND get great quality food, all for a great price. Most people’s guilty pleasure is binge watching a Netflix series. Mine, you ask? Shopping at Ingles!” -Andie Ervay

“Growing up, the only grocery store my family shopped at was Publix. All of my basic dietary and hygienic needs were provided for by Publix, so therefore, I owe my basic survival to Publix. In addition to the unwavering loyalty I have for Publix, they also have THE BEST subs this side of the Mason-Dixon line. Also, there’s a Chinese food place inside of my Publix. Most Publixes don’t have that, but mine does, and their food is GOOD. Lastly: it’s where shopping is a PLEASURE. Need I say more?” -Eva Parker

"Ingles is my blood, my soul, my fire. Every time I leave Northward for school, I die a little inside because I know in my heart of hearts that there are no Ingles locations north of Ohio. The aisles are bright and wide and free like the skies, and I’ll ride on the back of my shopping cart, practically soaring across the store. I’ll pick up a bag of Krispy Kreme mini-cruellers as I browse the vast selection of easy-spread cheeses. I’ll snatch a quick roast at Starbucks as the sprinklers in the produce section light up and make sounds like thunderstorms. Laura Lynn is my Lady Liberty, and I’d see death before I let anyone take that away from me.” - John Boi
