ROUND FACE

LONG FACE

Aim to protect your eyes first and foremost

Excessive exposure to UV radiation can cause a variety of problems for your eyes such as cataracts, burns, and cancer.

Try before you buy

Don’t buy online without doing your research first.

There are too many variables to consider and whether or not a style will suit you depends on a great deal more than just knowing your face shape. Go into a shop and test loads of different styles to find what works for you, even if you then go back online to buy your perfect pair for the best price (remember to note the model number).

Consider your hair colour/skin tone

Coloured frames and lenses can be a fantastic way to inject individuality but, as with clothing, certain colours can drain your complexion or clash with your hair colour. Experimenting is the only sure-fire way to ensure you make the right decision.

Consider your hair style/length

Hair covers much of our head, so it’s important

to remember that it has the potential to completely change the shape of our face. Long hair can often soften features whilst short hair will leave them completely exposed.

Don’t take things as gospel

Rules are meant to be broken, so don’t just stick to them if you feel you don’t want to. By all means try different colours, styles and shapes, the advice I have given is never anything more than a guide.

Remember the classics

Classic frames are considered as

such for a reason. They work and have done for decades so don’t be afraid to try a certain style just because lots of other people are already wearing them. Be aware of brands producing updated/limited edition versions of their iconic styles; there are lots of very similar frames available that are only slightly different, but those small changes can make all the difference.

Invest

Sunglasses are worthy of investment so don’t be afraid to push the boat out.

Better lenses, better build quality and a better overall look are certainly worth the extra cost and should last years. Cheap alternatives don’t look the same, don’t feel the same and won’t have the same protective qualities.

Sports glasses are for sport

Keep Oakleys for the slopes. Enough said.

The oval type can wear any style of glasses. But best to avoid frames that are either too thick or too thin or wider than your face width.

Because this face shape has very straight, pronounced jawline and edges, choose round glasses to balance out these features. Make sure the frames are not too thick. Try to choose wider sunglasses and avoid rectangular glasses with sharp corners.

A round face has plumper cheeks and chin. Choose more rectangular or square sunglasses that have an angle design to balance this out.

Choose larger lenses and the rectangular frame to modify a long face.

Make sure the sunglasses fit properly. Try them on and make sure they don’t pinch around your head. The weight should be evenly distributed between your ears and nose, and your eyelashes shouldn’t touch the frame or lenses. Glasses should be your stand on the bridge of the nose and ears. If your sunglasses don’t fit well you can go to an eyeglass shop to have them adjusted.

Face ShapeUse the shape of your face to help you pick your sunglasses shape. The following face shape matched to sunglasses style is recommended but not essential:

WayfarersPopular in the 1950s and 1960s, worn by Audrey Hepburn in the 1961 movie Breakfast at Tiffany’s. You cant go wrong with the infamous RayBan’s.

Finding the perfect pair of sunglasses can seem like a daunting task, but it is definitely a challenge worth undertaking. Not only is it hugely important that we protect our precious eyes from the sun but they can also become a trademark of your personal style (and

hide a multitude of sins!).

Take time over your search and try as many different styles as possible. Enjoy the process of finding them, you’ll know the right ones as soon as you put them on you’ll feel amazing. Once you’ve found them, wear them with pride, just not when it’s raining, not sunny, inside or at night (it’s not cool!). If you need more help, you know where to find me!

CHRISTIAN DIORDIOR SO REAL MIRROREDCLUBMASTER-STYLE£539.00

TeashadesPopularized by John Lennon and Ozzy Osbourne. They’re not very effective at keeping light out of your eyes, but are coming back into the fashion spotlight.

WraparoundsUsually associated with athletics and extreme sports.

MirrorshadesMirrored coating on surface. They usually come in an aviator or wraparound shape, my personal favourite are by Porsche.

Select a SizeSunglasses come in all shapes and sizes. Generally, finding a contrast between your face shape and the frame shape will look good. For example, if you have a round face, more angular frames will work well, and if your face is more square, a rounder softer frame shape will look good.

However, sunglasses are notoriously difficult to get right. From the shape of your face to your hairstyle and even your hair colour, choosing the right frame can be a bit of a minefield. Couple this with the huge number of styles on offer, the whole experience can become particularly frustrating, confusing and unrewarding. So, in preparation for the coming sunny weather

(positive thinking and all that) and to help you lovely lot get your heads around what sunglasses you might want to wear, here is a short guide to buying the perfect pair of sunglasses.

’ll be perfectly honest, I have somewhat reduced my personal collection of sunglasses over the past year or two as I owned far too many and just didn’t get round to wearing them all (it’s not that sunny to warrant 15 pairs!) I decided to

condense my collection down to a select few that suit my wardrobe and style perfectly. As you know I am a massive fan of accessories,

I spend more on shoes, handbags, scarves and jewellery than I do on clothes and I see sunglasses also fitting into this ‘essential accessories’ category. Regardless of where you live or the time of the

year, sunglasses are a required part of every stylish women’s wardrobe. We have perennially bad weather here in Britain but it is all too easy to get caught out. If you’re anything like me, squinting (and ultimately getting a headache) I carry my sunglasses around with me all the time. There’s a pair in my bag and one in my car so I never get caught out or encourage the fine lines appearing!

Ainslee trains people of all ages and abilities so whether its weight loss, strength, fitness, lean muscle or general health, he can bring it to you. He has all the equipment and knowledge to train you in the comfort of your own home. So whether you struggle finding time to get to the gym, dislike the gym atmosphere or you like training in your own gym at home.

Alongside his training methods he also provides clients with tailor made, structured nutrition plans and cleanse programmes.

INTRODUCING AINSLEE,

HE IS THE GOLD

STANDARD OF PERSONAL

TRAINING IN CHESHIRE

I started training with Ainslee when I found out I was pregnant

with my second child, I knew that I wanted to keep fit and active during my pregnancy and Ainslee was able to help me do this in a safe and fun environment. I was able work with him until i was 36 weeks pregnant and started training again after my baby was 6 weeks old. He managed to get my body strong again in a short period of time, slowly building up the intensity of my workouts. He also made me follow a strict nutrition plan to ensure my baby was getting all the right nutrients whilst pregnant and also whilst I was breast feeding. He was able to get me back to what my body was like before my first pregnancy… my husband thinks I look better than ever! I couldn’t recommend Ainslee enough.”

Ainslee tailors your training

to not only what you need but incorporates what you want, which is what other trainers seem to ignore. He also provided a healthy eating plan specific to my needs.”

I’ve been training with Ainslee for over six months now. After

retiring from full-time football the aches and pains began to surface. I wasn’t necessarily trying to reach my performance levels of my pro days but just wanted to become fitter and pain free in my role as a UEFA coach. Ainslee developed a functional training program that allowed me continue to play and deliver sessions without any problems that I had in my lower back from a leg length difference accrued over a 17 year playing career. With the problem identified, training with him always presented new challenges and he kept me abreast of improved techniques in order to reach my goals, which did change, as he got me to achieve progressing levels of fitness.”

I was very sceptical about starting the detox programme

and whether I would achieve any impressive results. After discussing the programme in depth and the benefits of the cleanse it was the only way for me to go. I had to implement a new way of eating that allowed me to get rid of all my toxins whilst having a deep clean at the same time, putting me on the right track to be healthy and keep the weight off. I found it not only helped me cleanse, but gave me more energy and feeling alert within the first week on the detox. I would also suggest that you measure yourself before & after the programme, as I was amazed that I lost a total of 5 inchs all over. This programme gave my body the chance to get a deep clean and start to feel and look healthy again. I knew if I could do this for 28 days eating clean from there onwards would no-longer be a challenge anymore. I was embarking on this new journey and decide to try this detox for the first time in my life. I was excited for it but also nervous, well I’m proud to say that I was able to do it. I feel less bloated, refreshed and healthy. While there are positive side effects, such a weight loss I wanted to reset my organs and eliminate the toxins from my body. It’s something I think I will do every year from now on.”

But before we talk about his career so far, I first wanted to take Jesse Lingard back to where it all began. Warrington...“I was always heavily into sport from an early

age”, states Lingard, who also played Rugby when he was a youngster, too. “I went to a school called William Beaumont High School in Warrington, and I suppose it was more of a rugby school to be honest, so I played quite a bit of that”.So, we almost lost his explosive attacking talents to

the oval ball game?“Ha, ha, no, definitely not. My mum said I first

kicked a ball when I was six months old and football was always the sport I loved”, he states, before I ask him about which team he living in a town virtually equidistant between Liverpool and Manchester.“I’ve always been a Man United fan”, states Lingard,

with a steely gaze that left me in o doubt as to his supporting allegiances. As a youngster, he played for local team Penketh

United, and whilst he was there it will come as no surprise to know that he was courted and given trials by a number of clubs (including the likes of Everton and Crewe), before having to decide at a young age which club he was going to join and train with.“I was left with two main

choices: Manchester United or Liverpool, and I chose United. I always was

going to really, as I’ve always supported them”.But as every professional footballer knows; life as

a youngster at a football club is no easy ride, and Lingard trained two or three times a week and played matches at the weekend for United. It meant leaving his Penketh team mates behind, and making sacrifices to pursue his dream. But as the player states “I kept and still keep in

touch with friends and family back in Warrington all the time. But when you are at Manchester United, you don’t take that lightly. You have to give your all when you have a chance at this really special football club. There is nothing better than signing for Manchester United, and when you’re already a fan of the club...”It’s a chance that he took with both hands,

culminating in United’s FA Youth Cup win in 2011, with Lingard scoring in the first leg of the Final. Lingard was part of a supremely talented group of young players that included the likes of Paul Pogba, Michael Keane, Ravel Marrison, Sam Johnstone, and Tyler Blackett... and it’s a group of players that he has remained close friends with.So when, as a youngster at Manchester United, did

a young Lingard first think he had a chance of really making it?“I don’t think you ever really do think you’ve made

it at United, to be honest. You can’t ever take things for granted. When you get to the under 18’s, you obviously dream of that next step, but United select some of the finest young players around, so you are always kept on your toes”.

It’s a refreshingly honest answer, and one that gives ample evidence as to why Manchester United have always had a reputation for giving

youth its chance in the first team. Never resting on laurels, and always striving to

improve. But it was away from Old Trafford where Lingard honed the talent and skills learned from his years in United’s youth set up. A series of loan moves to Championship clubs “matured” Lingard both on and off the pitch, and I ask him if going out on loan improved him as a player.“Yes, it did”, he answers,

“but it also improved me as a person, too. I was away from home, meeting new people, new team mates... so it’s a test of your character as well as your footballing ability.”And it’s a test that Jesse Lingard

passed with flying colours. Successful stints at Leicester City, Derby County,

Birmingham City, and Brighton and Hove Albion saw Lingard negotiate the physical side of the league, whilst his quick feet, eye for a pass, and spatial awareness shone brightly. None more so than on his debut for Birmingham City against Sheffield Wednesday in September 2013, a game the player remembers fondly, as he sits facing me, a gigantic smile breaking out...“Yeah, what a game that was. I was nervous

beforehand, as it was my first game for a new club, but it was one of those days when everything went well for me”. ‘Went well’ is a little bit of an understatment; at the

end of the game, Birmingham had beaten Wednesday 4-1, and Lingard had scored all four goals! With further understatement Lingard adds “It was

a good start for me, and got me in the fan’s good books straight away”. ‘Good books’? Most fans would be building statues

of a player who scored four on his debut for their team, never mind being in their ‘good books’!Playing down an unbelievable debut game is a

pertinent insight into the character of Jesse Lingard. It seems little phases him. An example is when we talk about sharing a dressing room, training, and playing with world class footballers both for his club and country.“Nothing much fazes me, and I don’t get

starstruck”, he admits. “I’ve worked hard to get where I am, and it’s in the mentality of players at clubs like Manchester United from an early age that they will be playing alongside the very best”.So, self-doubt never came into the equation when

out on loan?“No, not at all. I was simply determined to make

an impression, and I knew I needed to play games. I was training with great players at United every single day, so I took those experiences with me and learned from the clubs I was loaned out to. It was a two-way street as I really hoped they picked up things I had learned at United. Going out on loan took me away from what I was used to, and made me adaptable”.The proof of the pudding has been seen by Lingard’s

appearances in the United first team since 2014, bursting onto the international scene for the England senior team after playing at under 17 and 21 levels, and by scoring outstanding, priceless goals in hugely important Wembley games for his club. It’s an impressive CV for someone with many years

at the top level still ahead of them.“When you look at what I’ve done so far it makes

me really proud. Scoring the winner in the FA Cup

Final will always be a huge part of who I am and what I’ve done. Same with playing for England, too. But I’m not the sort to be content with the past - I’ve got a big part of my career still in front of me, and I’m hungry to develop my game and win trophies with United and help England to do the same”.

Winning trophies. It’s what Manchester United are all about. And Lingard’s extra-time winner against Crystal Palace on Saturday 21st May 2016 in the FA Cup Final added another chapter to the United book of silverware.

So, what does Lingard remember of that particular day and game?

“You’ll think I’m joking, but we really tried to treat it as just another game. Everything we did had the same focus and intensity of a typical game”.

I must admit, Lingard’s answer took me off guard a little. I expected a slightly more excitable account of playing in the biggest game of his life (so far): of the bus weaving through thousands of fans; the sight of

Wembley Stadium in the distance as the team bus drew closer; the noise as the teams emerge from the tunnel... but yet again, Lingard’s thoughtful answer was a real insight into the state of mind needed to play in the big matches for Manchester United. It’s about the game, the result, and not the occasion.“I agree. Of course, it’s a huge game. We know that.

And I’ll never ever not love playing at Wembley. But personally, I just wanted to make sure that if I was on the pitch I would make a difference. The game obviously didn’t go to plan at times, but that’s when you dig deep, and like I said, just try to make a real difference and affect the game if you get the chance”.Affect the game! And then some!Lingard came off the bench to amazing effect, with

his explosive winner being one of the purest strikes of a football witnessed on the hallowed Wembley turf. From the moment the ball left his right foot it was destined for only one place. And the name of Jesse Lingard was now destined for FA Cup and Manchester United history and folklore.

Lingard’s celebration wasn’t just that of a player who had scored an FA Cup Final winning goal. It was the celebration of someone who had scored the winning goal in an FA Cup Final for the team they supported from an early age.“Spot on. I have United in my heart, so scoring the

winner for them in an FA Cup Final... wow... I just caught it perfectly, right in the sweet spot. It was the greatest feeling ever, especially with my family being there”.But Wembley hadn’t seen the last of Jesse Lingard’s

fireworks just yet. Just under three months later, he scored another stunning goal that graced the Wembley turf, as Jose Mourinho started his United management tenure with a victory in The FA Community Shield against Leicester City. And Lingard hopes to be treading on that very

same turf on a regular basis for his country too, after impressing in his England appearances so far. From his answer, it’s obvious that Jesse Lingard has a hunger for success.“My short-term goals for United are to probably

improve my goal ratio, whilst forcing my way into the team on a regular basis. Same goes for England, too. I’m looking forward to continuing to work with Gareth Southgate, and again, forcing my way into the starting line-up. New managers bring new opportunities, and I’m

determined to take mine for club and country. As for trophies, I think that United are capable of winning two cups this season and hopefully qualifying for the Champions League, too”.In his relatively short time in the spotlight, Jesse

Lingard has played in a number of attacking positions. So, I asked him: which one is his favourite?“Well, like all players, I want to be in the side first of

all”, he states. “I will play anywhere for United and England, but deep down I see myself as playing in the number ten role. That might be in the future or it might happen sooner, but I’d like to think that’s my best position. But you know that playing at Manchester United, you will have a squad of hugely talented players around you. You have to be ready to play anywhere and do the job required”.Throughout the interview, Jesse Lingard regularly

mentions the honour of playing for Manchester United, and all that this brings. But that also brings extra pressures, as does simply being at this famous football club. But from our time chatting, it’s evidently clear that

the player relishes what he sees as these “positive pressures”. And you wouldn’t bet against the likeable Lingard scoring many, many more important, iconic goals for his beloved Reds for years to come.Just as long as they’re not against Stoke City,

okay Jesse?

Advertisers are offered rare access to high-earning ‘A-List’ consumers who are prepared to invest heavily on such luxuries as jewellery, watches, property, yachts, cars and holidays.

Published quarterly, the magazine is distributed to every Premier League, Championship, League 1 and League 2 football club in the UK, the 19 WSL1 and WSL2 Clubs in the UK, and more recently the 20 MLS Clubs, and 10 NWSL Clubs.

In total, our magazine has a circulation figure of 8000, and is read by over 25,000 professional and academy players and their families.

Engagement with this content has prompted Professional Player to develop a new section of the magazine which is solely focussed on the wives and partners of the players. This feature celebrates the great work that many of the players’ families get involved with away from the world of football, as well as providing

fashion, home and holiday ideas. In addition to the players and their families, Professional Player is mailed to an exclusive database of existing clients consisting of professional bodies, ex-players and celebrities from the world of show business. However, the Professional Player model goes beyond the limits of traditional advertising by interacting with all advertisers on social media where content is relevant for players.Professional Player has its own free smartphone app, enabling the user to hover their device over an advertisement or image. This triggers a link to the video content of the advertisers choice which is then played full screen on the device. This gives a more digital presence and interactive experience to the players.Advertising rates have been set to compete favourably against similar high-end publications and represents real value for those seeking to reach an upmarket, sophisticated and hard-to-reach audience.

News and Interviews Every issue will include interviews and features with football’s biggest names, health professionals plus regular columns from the experts, wives, girlfriends and influential figures within the game.

Health The dedicated health section combines real life experiences with relevant information, awareness campaigns, professional commentary, psychology designed to tackle addictions and other health concerns professional footballers may have.

Motoring At Professional Player we work with the very best in motoring, from the ultimate in performance vehicles to the most exclusive 4x4.

Leisure From choosing a new motor to discovering the latest technology on the UK market, we provide a complete guide to stylish living. Along with our dedicated boutique and catwalk fashion features we bring the latest trend previews, the must-have accessories and newest sport collections.

Travel A comprehensive guide to getting away from it all with the hottest destinations in the UK and abroad. In short, this is the one-stop holiday shop for that dream break in the sun, on the slopes or in the world’s most exciting cities.

Property A dedicated section on investing in property at home and abroad with financial advice for overseas and holiday property investments and portfolios.

Financial A section designed to help look after all your financial concerns with expert analysis from the experts including wealth management, insurance, tax and banking.

Legal From prenuptials to law-suits and social media regulations, we offer full support with legal concerns and player representation.

Fashion From boutique and catwalk fashion and jewellery to home interior design and an entertainment guide for upcoming events on the professional circuit, the fashion section provides inspiration for life.

Sport From the latest sporting fashion and brands to the latest news on sporting programmes, specialised equipment, fitness and nutritional advice, the sporting section is designed to balance footballer’s physical interests with the latest trends on the market. There are also in-depth features on the agents within the game and unravelling the myth that surrounds the game’s money men and what they can offer to today’s players and their families.

Who:Professional Player is published by ProPlayerMag Ltd. and was the brainchild and combination of experiences of Matthew Etherington formerly of Stoke City, West Ham and Spurs and his father Peter Etherington. Peter’s considerable experience in the print and publishing industry alongside Matthew’s insight as a Premier League player creates a rather invaluable combination. Through Matthew and his large network within the game, Professional Player are able to ensure that content is relevant and engaging, and provides a positive message for the players which is often lost in mass media.

Working withprofessional playerHere’s what our elite Partners have to say about working with us, and of course what the Players think about the magazine, made exclusively for them.

Testimonials: Players & Partners“Professional Player is a great idea and I like the fact that there’s plenty of editorial for players who have come to the end of their careers. Every player is different but it’s always good to read or take on board the advice of others.”

JIMMY BULLARD EX PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALLER

“We have been working with PP for the last year, and have really enjoyed the partnership. The magazine is excellent, with interesting and informative articles, and a great reach across football. The team are always proactive in looking for content and sharing it via social media, increasing our exposure.”SAFFERY CHAMPNESS

“I was aware of Professional Player from the training ground at Leicester and so I was happy to be interviewed for a recent issue. I spoke about my transition from a player to coach and hopefully other players thinking of making a similar move can take something from what I’ve said.” KEVIN PHILLIPS DERBY COUNTY FC ASSISTANT COACH

“Professional Player has been invaluable in providing me with companies that have helped me in the development of my career.”

Working withprofessional playerProfessional Player offer two levels when entering into a relationship, which are a full partner model and a more traditional advertising model:

Partner modelFor clients looking to enter into a full partner relationship, Professional Player does not limit its involvement with clients at the point that an advert is placed in the magazine. Professional Player use their extensive network of contacts within the football industry to identify opportunities for partners which will generate further business, whether this is from the players or through our other partners.

This turn-key model goes beyond the limits of traditional press advertising, by incorporating editorial content, exclusive events where products and services can be directly showcased to players, social media referrals, interactive content from the Professional Player website as well as a mobile app which can bring printed design to life. Partners will also receive space for a full profile within the Professional Player website.

Advertiser modelFor clients who are looking for a more traditional press strategy, the Professional Player advertising model is perfect. This model provides the opportunity to expose your brand or service to a niche market of high net worth individuals and their families, as well as engaging with players and clubs via Professional Player across social media channels. During one of the 4 quarterly insertions, your advert and brand/service will also have the opportunity to feature in a relevant advertorial piece, gaining even further exposure amongst your captive target audience.
