Dear St. Francis Parishioners,
As we enter into May, it has been six weeks now that we have not been able
to gather as a St. Francis church community. No Masses, no confessions, no
baptisms, no to the celebration of sacraments which are at the very heart of our
Catholic faith and that means so much to us and gives us the spiritual nourish-
ment we all crave. I never would have thought in my 53 years as a priest I would
experience what we are all now experiencing - as a Church and in civil society.
We are self-distancing, wearing masks, quarantining and we are apprehen-
sive about what it will look l ike and be l ike on the other end once we get back
to normal, whatever that new normal will be...
This pandemic is certainly testing us, but we open ourselves to the Lord
and his grace. A few weeks ago, we shared a unique Holy Week experience,
much abbreviated from the norm, but stil l enabling us to focus on the ultimate,
the death and resurrection of Our Lord and Savior. We always share in that
sublime experience through our baptism and daily discipleship with the Lord,
fed along the way by the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist.
Our God is not one who distances himself from us. Quite the contrary, he
has become one of us and with us in his son Jesus. Our God never wears a mask,
but always invites us to l ive in his light and love. We will be stronger as a faith
community because of the martyrdom we have experienced during this time.
My prayers and those of the priests, deacons and staff of St. Francis are very
much with you. Please keep us also in your prayers and stay well.
May God Bless you,
Msgr. Ronald Swett
The Month Dedicated to our Blessed Mother, Mary .
Bulletin for May 2020
Religious Education for Adults
Thank you for your continued prayers for our Elect. By the grace of God, we have continued our sharing of the faith
“safely” through Zoom classes each week. Although, our Holy Week was different, we watched the Masses on Palm Sunday and Holy Thursday together and
discussed the depth of the meaning of these Masses. On Holy Thursday we prayed the Chaplet of the Blessed Sacrament and
prepared for Good Friday and the first day of the Novena of Divine Mercy.
We continue to meet weekly going through the Easter readings. We will begin the Novena to the Holy Spirit on Friday, May
22nd as did the Apostles as they prayed in the upper room with the Blessed Mother for the gift of the Advocate. Please join us
as a community of prayer.
“Those who live their lives in union with God in this
age will take part in the resurrection to eternal
life.” Hebrews 6:4-8
In memory of parishioners who have been given the gift of eternal life in the month of March 2020 with services
through St. Francis:
Alyce Montoya Arnaud Arrayet Ofelia Eustaquio Donna Bugni Anita Gallardo Henry Chavez Elias Molina Frank Fonceca Jose DeJesus Joseph Armijo Rosemary Bertolucci John Wilke II Our funeral team wishes to accompany those who are grieving and to show the light of Jesus Christ risen to those whose hearts are broken.
Our Parish embraces all who are mourning and gives direction for funeral services. We give thanks to God for the deceased's life and hold family and friends close in prayer as
we travel together through these difficult times. Since we are unable to have Mass at this time, we are currently providing graveside services and scheduling
memorial Masses at a future time. Please contact Roylene See through the Parish Office with any questions.
In this time of isolation, boredom, loneliness and social distancing, we have lived an Easter triduum like none other we ever thought we would have to endure. But, love found
a way and, for most of us we learned how to watch a live streamed Mass and pray with a depth like never before. As we celebrate Pentecost, the birthday of the church, I
think about the feast days and milestones of the church. Like Easter, Pentecost occurs on a different date each year. The word "Pentecost" comes from the Greek, and means
"fiftieth day." It occurs on the fiftieth day after Easter and, in the church, it is known as the last of the Great Fifty Days.
The Great Fifty Days begin at sunset on Easter Eve (the evening before Easter) and end on the evening of Pente-
cost Day. If you have used an Easter (Paschal) candle, Pentecost is the last day on which it will be lit during ordinary worship.
During the Great Fifty Days, we in the church focus on Christ's resurrection, his many appearances to his followers, and then on his ascension. With Pentecost, we celebrate the birthday of the Church and the presence of the Holy
Spirit as described in Acts 2. Pentecost reminds us that the Holy Spirit brings life to the church. From that first Pentecost,
the church grew out from Jerusalem into all the world. So, as we count these 50 days, let us pray that we might be
back together physically to celebrate the birthday of the Church. In the meantime, we pray patiently
and with love for one another.

Dear head of ministries,
It was good to see you at our zoom meeting. We hope that soon we will have the chance to get together once again. Thank you for everything you do in your ministry. Our Church needs all of us more than ever. Please, if you have the means to con-tact the core members of your ministry, share the good news of our Lord and bring his hope to everyone! I will email all as soon as I get the time and date for our next meeting.
May our Lord bless you and your family.

Why we Do what we Do From the desk of Heidi Scott
Religious Education Youth Program
Please continue prayers for our students and their families as they continue their preparation for Sacraments from home.
We have always taught the families that
they are the first teachers of the faith, now their homes have become the Cynical of faith as they not only are praying and sharing the Word of God, but now they
attend Mass in the home together.
We miss seeing all of you and look forward to the time we can be with our families again and complete their Sacraments.
Peace and Blessings!
