Creative independents are finding it harder to secure lucrative work within their specialised fields. The competition from professionally developed individuals is vast, and with artistic people expected to work for free because of the need to constantly develop work, there is less and less sustainable employment available.

The Fluxxe Collective is a catalyst and consultancy that develops the work of creative specialists in the professional world. Previous research conducted amongst creative freelancers has shown that to gain the most lucrative work, a high level of importance must be placed on how the work is showcased; yet most say they are inexperienced in this arena. The consultancy will enhance the showcasing of work for creative independents such as photographers, makeup artists and stylists to achieve a high specification portfolio to obtain work in the near future. The catalyst will act as an investigation into the best ways of presentation and showcase the highest possible standard of portfolio compendium. The Fluxxe Collective will work with individual clients to gain a strong sense of personal identity through work, and then extend this through a well-branded and flawless compilation of outputs. The outputs will be individual for every client, depending on their type, level and style of work, and can consist of film, publication and print, online presence and portfolio. Every client will also receive a developed and tailor made networking kit, which can be presented at recruitment opportunities.

The Fluxxe Collective will only develop a specific range of client to ensure that the highest quality of candidate is put forward. To ensure this, all clients will undergo a professional check-up during the initial consultation.

The consultancy will build up a large range of portfolios and matter that will act as an industry directory. The consultancy will not personally promote the client’s work or brand, yet it will always be able to be found here. Once the reputation of the catalyst has been built and is well known, The Fluxxe Collective Pharmacy will act as a high quality and defined directory for creative minds and workers, easily found through categorization of style and level of work, both online and in print at The Fluxxe Collective Clinic.

Currently, there are limited amounts of services and consultancies that give the complete style of package that The Fluxxe Collective intend to offer to such a broad range of client. There are many consultancies for brands, or for specific areas of development, like Saffron Consultants based in London, but they do not cover all of the needs of an independent individual looking for lucrative work, and personal professional development. The catalyst will cover every area of development and presentation to ensure that there are no professional faults or floors with any of the collective.

The Fluxxe Collective will market itself within various portals in which creative individuals search for work and collaboration, like personal networking sites. By doing this an initial client base will be sourced and developed. The consultancy should prove successful through the initial candidates, meaning that less and less marketing will be needed; the catalyst will then thrive from word of mouth and reputation as well as relationship marketing as ongoing liaisons with existing clients.

The Fluxxe Collective will produce a complete range of showcasing materials and branded networking matter for an Client A before opening it’s doors to further clients in order to showcase what can be offered. The complete range will incorporate work development through organised creative productions, a catalyst publication, a personal website, a showcasing film and a series of personalised networking product, which would normally all stand in separate packages available to clients. By creating the full range of services and product available for Client A, future clients will be able to see the level at which consultancy works and also what can be achieved for them. This service and product prototype will ultimately secure and entice new clients.

Freelance individuals who use the consultancy will be introduced to high quality collaborators, and equipment will be readily available to work with in order to create their best work. The service will be an optional package and will help develop the creative’s work by giving the best available production and process services, from registered models, professional photographers and experienced retouchers. There will also be an opportunity for the clients of the consultancy to work with each other to improve work.

An innovative catalyst publication will be created with the ultimate attention to detail placed at every point. Because a creative individuals work is in a constant state of flux, the printed and bound publication will be able to be altered, ensuring all costs are spent wisely and effectively.

Each client will be able to commission a personalised showcasing online website. The website will again be constructed to fit the specific needs of each creative individual and will be developed through close liaisons with the client. With networking and the power of word of mouth, it is essential to have examples of work readily available to be found online.

The creation of a personal film will also be available to clients. The film will be a short and intense showcase of each persons work, and because of the inclusion of motion and sound, the overall style and essence of the creative individual can really be achieved. The combination of the multiple styles of portfolio will ensure that any client of The Fluxxe Collective will have refined and relevant pieces available when asked to send examples of work.

The Fluxxe Collective recognises that networking and personal interaction are essential ways of collecting contacts and gaining lucrative work. The character behind the work is becoming as important as the work itself, and it is rare for either to successfully stand-alone. To ensure all clients of The Fluxxe Collective have the best possible chance of securing credible contacts, a networking kit will be developed. The networking kit will consist of a re-styled, future thinking Curriculum Vitae (CV). The kit will also include personally branded and succinct business cards and contact documents, and a small pamphlet portfolio that can be given out to industry professionals and future collaborators. Those who use the catalyst will also receive professional and personal communication development in order to guarantee their chances are as strong as possible.

There is a lot of movement within the creative industries through various networks and sectors. The Fluxxe Collective will develop a strong candidate to be put forward in the creative industry with a succinct and diverse range of work to ensure that he or she is considered. Because of this memorable work, branding, style and professional personality, those associated with, and developed by, The Fluxxe Collective will build a strong reputation within the industry and will therefore gain more interest with future employers and collaborators.

The Fluxxe Collective will engage with clients to fully understand their personal identity and working style. This knowledge will enable an extremely personal and memorable freelance or self-brand to be created. The personal branding must be appropriate for the client to be able to develop work further without being stuck within a specific styled framework. The visual branding of each client will follow all of the produced material; this includes logo, colouring and font type. Past research has shown that being able to treat an individual as a brand means their work can be viewed in a more professional and proficient manner.

Once The Fluxxe Collective has created a personalised set of showcasing outputs for the client, they will be able to take them and distribute them wherever they feel is appropriate. The aim of the consultancy is to develop work and materials for the client to take and promote themselves, rather than act as a direct agency representing that person. Because of this, The Fluxxe Collective is able to create a completely unbiased professional kit for the individual, without any consultancy branding shadowing the creative work. It also ensures that the client has complete creative freedom when searching for new work and collaboration, rather than being limited under a restrictive agency policy or contract.
