MJC Classic Cars May Newsletter 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado The First Front Wheel Drive Cars v 2015 Vol. V Over our first eight years of business, we have sold many of the first generation front wheel drive Eldorado and Toronado sport coupes. Designed with all the luxury appointments, excel- lent driving and handling, we feel these are some of the best investment vehicles of the 1960’s. All you have to do is drive one and you will see the power and ease of handling, the first US built front wheel drive vehicles since the 1937 Cord !!! The original Toronado began as a design painting by Oldsmobile stylist David North in 1962. A few weeks after the design was finished, Oldsmobile division was informed it would be per- mitted to build a personal car in the Riviera/Thunderbird class for the 1966 model year, and North’s design was selected. Oldsmobile had been working on front-wheel drive since 1958. The unusual Toronado powertrain, which combined an engine and transmission into an engine bay no larger than a conventional rear-wheel drive car, was developed over a seven year peri- od and components were driven over 1.5 million test miles to verify their strength and reliability. As debuted, the innovative Toronado featured such GM developments as the: • Heavy-duty Turbo-Hydramtic 400 three-speed automatic transmission • Rochester Quadrajet four-barrel carburetor • Spherical shaped exhaust-manifold flange gaskets, which provided freedom of move ment in the exhaust system and prevented leaks • “Draft-Free” ventilation system, which reduced wind noise considerably by eliminating conventional front-door vent windows The Eldorado was radically redesigned and introduced a year later in 1967 to capitalize on the exploding era’s personal luxury car market. To enhance its distinctiveness, Cadillac adopted the Toronado’s front wheel drive adapted to a standard Cadillac 429 V-8. The new Eldorado was a great departure from the previous generation, which had become little more than a dressed-up version of Cadillac’s De Ville. Its crisp styling, initiated by GM styling Chief Bill Mitchell, was distinctive and unique. Its sales of 17,930 units, nearly three times the previous Eldorado high, helped give Cadillac its best year ever. Own one of these highly desired models and enjoy the ride... Their values continue to climb each year for excellent examples. 1968 Cadillac Eldorado Click Photos For More Info

Next Generation Collectables1982-1992 Camaros And Firebirds

As time passes, people graduating from high school and college in the 1980’s are now in their forties and fifties. Entering the collector car market, many search out the cars of their youth. The third generation Camaro and Firebirds built from 1982-1992 have become hot cars and excellent examples are selling for over book value. As time passes, the books will catch up with the market for these next generation collectables.

The Firebird and Camaro were completely redesigned for the 1982 model year, with the wind-shield slope set at 62 degrees the largest ever at GM. For the first time, a large, glass-dominat-ed hatchback that required no metal structure to support it was used.

The Third-Generation Camaro was released for sale in December, 1981. The 1982 model intro-duced the first Camaros with a hatchback body style and such options as factory fuel injection. The Camaro Z28 was Motor Trend Magazine’s Car of the Year for 1982. Three models were available: Sport Coupe, Berlinetta, and Z28.

Two concealed pop-up headlights, were the primary characteristic that distinguished the 3rd Gen Firebird from its both its Camaro sibling and its prior form. In addition to being about 500 pounds lighter than the previous 2nd Gen design, the 3rd Generation Firebird was the most aerodynamic product GM had ever released. Wind tunnels were used to form the new F-Body platform’s shape, and Pontiac took full advantage of it. The aerodynamic developments extend-ed to the finned aluminum wheels with smooth hubcaps and a functional rear spoiler. The Trans Am continued to be the icon of the Pontiac line during this period.

ASC conversion convertibles and TTop examples continue to be the hottest sellers. Our clients’ interest in these vehicles continues to build each year and values are increasing steadily.

1938 PackardModel 1603

This car is a perfect example of a high quality restoration and build. It was com-pleted about six years ago and has only traveled 8,000 miles since completed. The owner started his restoration with a rust free Packard 1603.

During the restoration process the builder upgraded the suspension, drive train, and interior. Luxury options were added for driving convenience and long road trips. The car has an excellent dual stage re-paint in Gold Mist Metallic over Burgundy Jewel Metallic. Beautiful, high quality show paint.

A new 350 crate V-8 with 4BBL carb was added for better power and performance. The 700R overdrive automatic transmis-sion was rebuilt and the overdrive help better fuel economy on highway driving.

This is the type of car you dream about. Amazing style and body lines but with all the driving amenities of a newer more modern car. You can proudly take this car to any show and it’ll be sure to turn heads and bring home trophies.

Our Shopv

Consignmentv

MJC Classic Cars has been selling not only our own cars, but vehicles for con-signing clients We’ve been able to consis-tently sell luxury cars, muscle cars, and custom hot rods for clients from all over the USA and Canada.

We only consign very nice vehicles, no rust buc ets or projects. Our rule is we need to have the vehicle present for photographs here in Lakeland, Florida and can safely store the car until sold. We do not take offsite consignments as many cars are visited

pre-sale by buyers and inspectors, so we limit consign-ments to cars that are with us.

MJC ClassicCars is an established company selling about 300 classics

this year. We have found eBay, Hemmings Online, Classiccars Online and Autotrader Classics to be the most cost effective and result oriented places to advertise your car. Our website www. mjcclassiccars.com confirms the quality of the cars we sell to poten-tial buyers.

Fees paid after we sell your car... Most consignment companies charge you up front and then ongoing marketing fees. We charge our selling fees after we sell your car. There are no storage fees or marketing fees paid during the selling period. We get paid when we perform.

Since we began in 2007, we have always taken the business approach that our clients want their vehicle to arrive ready to drive.

The classic car business is typically a very different model. Most dealers buy their cars on the weekends at classic car auctions, wash them on Monday and advertise them on Tuesday. In most instances, your new purchase from them arrives and goes to your repair shop to be fixed so it can be driven.

At MJC, we have a dedicated team in our ten man shop that does nothing but repair our cars. Whether a consignment orowned car, our cars arrive ready to drive.

We sell our cars for slightly higher prices than buying from our competition, but our goal is for you to know what your investment will be, not a purchase with open ended repairs after arrival. We also know we can make these repairs with our expert staff at a lower cost than you paying retail at your local repair shop.

Please click the pix below and see the repair facility at our new location. We believe our new repair facility is the finest of any classic car dealer not taking in outside work. We only work on our own cars.
