Spandan , ZERO FASHION (Day 2-Feb27) By : Dr Sadia Samar Ali MBA Operations students had thought of doing something different, something unique from the kind of activities usually expected in a fest.Team brainstormed to arrive at a concept known as Zero Fashion, an altogether an innovative idea of redefining what a fashion show could be. Zero Fashion, was the event organized with the purpose of encouraging those students who could redefine fashion with their passion towards the idea of GO GREEN adopted by our institute New Delhi Institute of Management, and it totally changed the perception that fashion is all about the glim and the glamour. They were supposed to prepare a couture made out of re-cyclabe, re-usable waste materials to convey and spread the essence of Sustainability in a fashionable sense. The entire institute was filled with enthusiasm, with the adrenaline pumping through the veins, as the much awaited event of Spandan-2015 commenced on 27 th February 2015. Event coordinator Dr. Sadia Samar Ali guided coordinating team members Ms. Nikita Bansal , Ms. Smriti Shukla , Mr. Ravi Singh , Mr. ABHISHEK Panda, MR. TARUN Panwarto execute their assigned responsibilities well, motivated others to participate in the event and to carry on this tradition in the future. The entire team was on its toes to get the things organized right from the judge’s evaluation sheet, to preparing the checklist for the approval of the participants’ dresses, confirming their participation, helping them out with the selection of the music pieces for the ramp walk…. The mantra at the Zero Fashion was “Go Green, Go Ecofriendly”. Contestants attire mage out of newspaper, magazines, dry leaves, old clothes, jute and sake, used pipes, jeans etc. As the competition was open for all colleges, various colleges vizDyal Singh Evening College, Deshbandhu College, Miranda House of Delhi University, and Institute of Marketing & Management, New Delhi Institute of Management Tuglakabad Campus and Okhla campus are to name few. Contestants came up with unique themes like Make in India, Kabaad se jugaad, Rhythm, Waves, Barbie Doll, Walk with Colours, Nature k saviours, Rainbow summer and Peppy Dolls etc. The efforts put in by all contestants were commendable and left the jury speechless. Jury grilled the teams with questions related to the material used, technique, resources, usability, idea behind the design and theme before deciding the winner. It involved loads of fun and excitement as the teams explained about their dresses to the jury, everyone in the Amphitheatre including the Jury were awe struckat the level of creativity and effort portrayed by all the teams into the making of the dress.

The esteemed judges for the event consisted of Mr. Lalit Sengar, Creative Director, SENGAR

launched SENGAR in spring of 2011. After two years of successful womens wear line Sengar is launched

its exclusive Mens Wear line at LAKME FASHION WEEK SR’14. He just ventured into mass market with

his label “sengar” with a tie-up with ecommerce platform Jabong and Mr. Prashant, Agilent

Techonolgies International . Focus TV coverage by Buraro Chief, Mr. AbhinavUpadhaya it was wonderful

to have them here in our Campus. Special thanks to them to spare time from their busy

schedule.Everyone in the audience who applauded and cheered for the contestants as they presented

beautiful, innovative, innovative, ground breaking dresses, recreated……….Ms Nikita became quiz

master to distribute goodies amongst the audience after successful conduction of ‘Free Thinkers’ quiz .

The main agenda behind the competition was to promote recycling and sustainable fashion. It was

difficult to decide on the winning team

NDIM’s Management has provided all necessary support to organize this successful event.With the

checks and the balances done, the event went just fine, everyone enjoyed………..
