Where there is no prophetic vision the people cast off restraint (or are discouraged), but blessed is he who keeps the law. Proverbs 29:18

Vision Casting

All passages are ESV unless otherwise noted.The point here is that without vision people 1. cast of restraint or 2. become discouraged. Whatever translation one chooses to go with, the point still is that without vision, people get off track! We need to cast Gods vision as we prophecy His word! We dont need to cast our vision, our organizations vision, a local churchs vision, etc. 2015/1/556We need Gods vision!!!

Vision Casting

Often times, what we consider valuable is useless in Gods sight. Our plans and dreams amount to nothing if they do not come from God. Sometimes, even our best intentions are despised in Gods sight. We need Gods vision, not our own. The context of this passage is Jesus discussing the issue of money with the Jewish religious leaders of His day. We need to be careful that we are not trying to promote our own agenda however good it may seem, and work to cast Gods vision.2015/1/567What is Gods Vision?

This is the end goal. Everything we do and everything we are should revolve around this end goal. This has been Gods purpose from the creation of the world and is still His purpose today!2015/1/578What is Gods Vision?

Is the Earth full of the knowledge of the glory of the Lord? The answer is no. There are millions who have never even heard of Jesus, much less know Him or His glory.

Part of the Lords Prayer:Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Matthew 6:10

Is Gods will done on Earth as in Heaven? Why does God have us pray for this?Vision Casting

The answer to question one is no. Imagine in Heaven when God commands an angel to do something, do they argue with Him? No, they do what God tells them to do. People, on the other hand, refuse to do His will on a constant basis. We dont even need to mention non-believers, His own people often refuse to do Gods will on Earth as it is done in Heaven. This does not preclude the fact that Gods will is still done, because Gods will, will be accomplished. However, it is not yet done as it is in Heaven. The answer to question 2 is that God wants it to be so! If Gods will is done by us as it is in Heaven, then the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord! 2015/1/5910What is Gods vision?

This is the practical application to the more abstract end goals presented in Psalm 72:19 and Habakkuk 2:14. This verse centers on the main verb to make disciples of all nations. Romans14:23 says that whatever does not proceed from faith is sin. James 2:14-26 clearly states that faith without works is dead. From this, we must know that there is no faith without works even though were not saved by our works. This helps us better understand Ephesians 2:10.Vision Casting

28What is the purpose of your salvationReview: Gods goal is for the knowledge of His glory to fill the earth (Hab. 2:14) and He has tasked us with the Great Commission to make disciples of all nations who obey (Matt. 28:18-20). We were made for his glory (Is. 43:7) and we are to abide, obey and bear fruit (Jn. 8:31, 15:5-8) for His glory as we live for him (2 Cor. 5:15) and do the works that He prepared in advance for us to do (Eph. 2:10) which will bear fruit as we accomplish everything He has given us to do just as Jesus did (Jn. 17:4).Vision Casting

The Church was created to glorify God!(Eph. 3:21) How Paul prayed for the church: For God mayto fulfill every resolve for good and everywork of faith by his power,so that the name of our Lord Jesusmay be glorified in you(2 Thess. 1:11-12)For us to be perfectly one,so that the world may know that the Father sent Jesus (John 17:23)

34How do we make disciples?

And what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also. (2 Timothy 2:2)

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. (2 Tim. 3:16-17)Vision Casting

We are to teach disciples to obey everything Jesus commanded. Timothy was taught by Paul to teach others who could teach others who could teach others. Timothy was serving in church at Ephesus from where everyone in the province of Asia heard the good news in just two years time (Acts 19:10). Theres no way that Paul did the work himself, but rather he taught others, to teach others, to teach others and so forth. That is reproducible ministry! The what of our teaching is Gods word! It is profitable for teaching and training in righteousness, but note that the end goal is not merely head knowledge. We use Gods word to make the man of God complete and equipped for every good work which is why the exist! God created all of us for good works that will glorify Him and we are to use Gods word to equip them to do what God created them to do. 2015/1/53435How do we make disciples?

We are to use Gods word to grow disciples, not our own ideas and opinions. The modern church is full of our own explanations of what we think the Bible says on issues that are uncertain, but we are commanded to not go beyond what is written so that we wont be puffed up with pride.
