The Connection Faith Sharing from The United Church of Warsaw Volume 8, No. 4 - April 2019 For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven… Ecclesiastes 3:1 Memories… the creased black and white photo is well over 60 years old… there we stood in the front yard… the family all decked out in our Easter finery. My mother made the dresses my younger sister and I wore, and she purchased new hats, gloves, and purses to complete our outfits. My parents and older siblings looked pleased in their Easter finery. I remember feeling so special that Easter morning as my brother snapped our picture in the front yard. It was a time of excitement and mystery. Many Easter mornings have passed since that childhood photo was taken. As the walk through Lent nears its close with Holy Week, shouts of “Hosannas” will be replaced by the cruel cries of “Crucify Him!” and death will come once again. When we think that all is lost, excitement and mystery burst out of the tomb as the first blush of sunrise appears Easter morn and we shout, “Christ the Lord is risen! Christ the Lord is risen indeed!” It is a time of new beginnings… It is a time of wonder and awe! It is also a time of bittersweet farewell for our church… As we continue our walk through this year of change and transition, we say farewell to our faithful organist/pianist Marilyn Kibler as her “season” with our church comes to an end. Our prayers travel with Marilyn as she looks forward to new beginnings and adventures that await her as she joins her family out west. Blessings this time of endings and new beginnings… this time of Lent and Easter… this time of wonder and awe! Peace… Rev. Sue Forsyth
