Participants : 15 Entrepreneurs from different industries and 20 management

students of BBA and BA management.

A brief description of the activity / event: Gone are the days when students used to think of pursuing

a career with leading MNCs. More and more school students in India are now taking the entrepreneurship

path. Therefore management department has taken an initiative to have an BSSS Impression

Entrepreneurial meet where the experts can share their experiences and help in establishing business lab

and incubation centre. In all 15 entrepreneurs from renowned companies are invited for sharing their

knowledge and have discussion for signing MOU with our management department of BSSS, Bhopal.

Aim or objective of the activity /event: For providing practical knowledge and mentoring

students in the field of entrepreneurial skill development this session have been organised. Here

entrepreneurs from the different fields shared their views on how they can participate in this

program and what is required to design and develope this program.

Whether the objective was met, if so to what extent: The results obtained in the discussion

helped a lot in getting ideas to set up a business lab and thus the objective was met to a great

extent.

Event – BSSS Impression Entrepreneurial Meet 2018

INTRODUCTION

The Bhopal School of Social Sciences was founded in the year 1972, with the broad aim of

diffusion of the right ideas of work and human relationships with a view to assisting the national

efforts to promote an egalitarian society. Throughout the process of its growth the college

emphasized the need for academic excellence by drawing forth the intelligence, initiation and

problem solving abilities of its students.

To improve and enhance business management skills, the Department of management, has

initiated a program ‘BSSS Impression’.

THE MAIN OBJECTIVES OF BSSS IMPRESSION ARE:

To understand the procedures to start a business.

To enable students, get first-hand experience in entrepreneurship.

To promote innovation driven activities at the institute.

Equip the students with skills, knowledge and modern tools for startups.

To enhance managerial capacities of the entrepreneur.

To analyze an existing business for problem solving.

To understand the procedures for starting a business and sustaining them .

To design and develop an effective training module for entrepreneurship.

To get input from experts.

Fr. John P J talked about earn while learn concept.

Father John P.J. explained the concept of need in entrepreneurship especially for start-ups

by example of Bollywood movie.

Entrepreneurship is one of the important and currently focused parts of Higher Education.

Many of the alumni have their own start up. First-hand experience from the entrepreneurs

will assist in developing, enhancing and analyse their skill sets.

How entrepreneurship can be initiated in students when they finish their education,

imparting Theoretical to practical knowledge and contribution of Industries.

We can come up with solutions through inputs from eminent industrialist of Bhopal.

How to develop entrepreneurship skills in a student.

If Government of India is to develop skills then there must the shift from theory to

practical. So that from day 1 sustainability will be there in employment.

Pradeep:- 2016 - MSME - start up Incubation centres

Incubation centres / Start up ideation centre provide all the facilities to develop. With the

pool of different ideas and knowledge people (business experts) for Brushing up/

honouring the skills in collaboration with centre.

Sustainability; innovation, infrastructure, seed funding, agent investment are the basic

functions of Incubation centres.

Neeraj Bhargava- Job opportunities for management graduates or PG have not grown as

they should. Teachers should be able to assess attitudes, comprehension level. Planning

things with longer perspective and realising that there is no short cuts. They should be

made to study cases, more exposure on practical knowledge in finance and Vestibule

training.

Training for 1 month with serve the immediate purpose of students but they fail in long

run due to low exposure.

Stands on training with International Agencies evaluation should be authentic. Inst. At

their levels. Teachers should be able to understand comprehensive skills. Students should

realise that there is no short cuts. Plan out their lives to study cases and to go into details.

Mr Arun - studied from Europe - Education system must focus on practical rather than

theoretical. Certain topics can be taken in industries. Thus, practical knowledge can be

provided. Personality Development should be compulsory in UGs and PGs.

Why start up fails? (Seminar on this)

Sahil - students have zero practical knowledge but their expectations are very high.

Students should be trained to understand the market culture. Their salary expectations are

more than the ground reality. Students should be made to understand that they have to

work hard.

Theory gives good marks but practical knowledge gives good life. But Potential students

have no one to guide them.

Thomas sir - Only entrepreneurs can mentor, guide, help.

Gilbert - Students should be allowed to visit the industries for practical knowledge and

for encouragement.

Tools and techniques

Process - registration

Lack of knowledge and understanding about processes.

Personality requirement efforts should be made by entrepreneurs

Risk taking- quick and flexible in changing market situations. We need to respond to

business market need.

Commitment- sustainability

Desire of being an entrepreneur.

Pradeep - New generation have new solutions for new problems. Youth is having more

ideas and thought processes. Let them come with ideas than later we can find the

sustainability. They also have plan for execution.

Tanul - The period of internship must be more than 45 days. Entrepreneurship cannot be

taught.

Abhishek - students should be asked to do jobs while learning. Then only practical

knowledge can be given. Active participation should be there for practical knowledge.

Students should be identified for managing different events to give practical learning

experience .We can allot 50-60 students are required every month for 3 to 4 events.

Gyan B. - Entrepreneurship is different for different people.

There should be zeal to become an entrepreneur.

Ravisha M - Women Network Chairman. Work on inspiring girls apart from training

them in skill development areas like fashion designing, beauticians etc mostly giving

them a unique direction with ethics for being a good human being.

III) Skill development student layer.

2 or 3 students becoming counsellor.

Industries also do not welcome the students. We failed to identify the students who

actually need 15000- 20000.

Instead of students teachers should be sent for training as their mind set and

understanding will match. So, they can be trained and become the counsellor for

industrial linkage.

The big problem is to identify the core area of interest in the students.

Learn student's background and what are his future prospects and objectives (provide

them what they want)

Students counselling and teacher's interaction with industry. So that they can share and

learn practical learning approach, current trend in industry and market expectations.

OUTCOME:

The current global competitive market has created the continuous need for evolving oneself for

sustenance whether individual or organization. Interaction of academia and industry on a

continuous basis will serve both mutually in common interest for improving the efficiency and

effectiveness identifying the skill sets required on a dynamic basis for the ever changing

expectations of the market. This gap between the skills requirement of the industry and academic

curriculum can be bridged through teachers acting as their mentors not only as point of contact

for industrial trainings, internships or visits but pooling knowledge and research.

In the current dynamic environment employability is based on skill development instead of

degrees, which is in line with the focus of current Government Skill Development program. The

energy and passion amongst youth have to be channelized in a proper direction working upon the

personality development, skill development and entrepreneurship qualities. Teaching and

learning will generate a long term impact when appropriate practical exposure through 90 or 180

days internship program is offered to give comprehensive and concrete solutions.
