Dear Sisters,
Happy Thanksgiving! Let us be thankful for our Health,
Family, Friends and this beautiful special sisterhood
we are all enjoying, the Daughters of Penelope!
Founder’s Day – November 16th The Daughters of
Penelope were founded on November 16, 1929. This
year we are celebrating 85 years! Consider planning a
special celebration for your chapter to recall the
wisdom and vision of our founding sisters when they
formed the first chapter, EOS #1 in San Francisco. This
is always a good opportunity to hold a Membership
Drive. Let the women at church and in your circles
know about our Order and encourage them to join.
The District Lodge for 2014‐2015 started the year with
attending the District Governor’s Conference in DC.
This was a great opportunity to meet the Supreme
Lodge and other District Governors throughout the
country.
Congratulations to our
new National Officers

District Workshop The District Workshop was held on Saturday, October 4, 2014. Alexander #250 hosted the event. A great time was had by all. We shared each chapter’s success stories as well as what did not work. Binders containing forms, protocol guide, Parliamentary Procedure and other pertinent information were given to the chapter presidents.
The Lodge enjoyed the Trenton
Installation of Officers/Visitation held on Thursday,

Demetriou.

On Sunday, November 16, 2014, Nike Chapter #230
held their Victorian Themed Nutcracker Tea Party. We
enjoyed performances by Ballet Fleming, Gift Basket
Raffles and a Hat Parade for best adult and child hat.
The bulk of the funds from this event are slated for
research for the disease, Friedreich’s ataxia. Nike
chose this charity because they have a parishioner who
is dear to their heart, and they would like to honor her
and her family by choosing this charity this year.
Leonidas Lazaropoulos, the 25-year-old
son of parishioner Krissa Lazaropoulos,
did not let the disease keep him from
graduating from Drexel University with
a bachelor’s degree in biology in 2012,
nor will it keep him from working
toward his doctorate and his goal of a
career in zoology.
The District Lodge attended Nike Chapter #230 Founder’s Day Dinner held on Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2014 at the Diamond
Restaurant. We sang Happy 85th Anniversary to the Daughters of Penelope! Great time with all our sisters.
