Dear Sisters of Citrus District 2! We are back! We are back in so many ways, with a new school year for some, a new ecclesiastical year, some new members in our sisterhood, and new beginnings with goals, projects, and exciting activities for each chapter! This is hard to believe, but summer, which began on June 21 st , ended on September 21 st . Fall is already here! Because many chapters do not hold official meetings in the summer, I would like to recap some of the highlights and get us caught up to move into Fall. First of all, we had an outstanding District 2 Convention, which was held on June 7-9 at the Marriott Hutchinson Island in Stuart, FL under the sponsorship of AHEPA 479 Hobe Sound, DOP Cassandra 372 Boca Raton, and AHEPA 487 Boca Raton. A big thank you goes to the leadership team of PGP Connie Pilallis and PDG Kostas Sofikitis and all of those who worked so hard for such a successful event. It truly was a memorable AHEPA family event, with all four orders having good deliberations and everyone participating in a lot of fun-filled activities. Thank you to all of the sisters that came as delegates (over 60) and those who actively participated serving on committees or as chairs. Especially, a 1 | Page District Governor Ourania Stephanides 9906 Lone Tree Lane Tampa, Fl. 33618 Cell: 813-546-4711 [email protected] m District Lt. Dear Sisters of Citrus District 2! We are back!

We are back in so many ways, with a new school year for some, a new ecclesiastical year, some new members in our sisterhood, and new beginnings with goals, projects, and exciting activities for each chapter! This is hard to believe, but summer, which began on June 21st, ended on September 21st.

Especially, a great thank you goes to Joanne Sackedis, PDG, PGG (Convention Chair), Dorothy Xanos (Convention Vice-Chair), Nicole Leontsinis (Convention Secretary), and Diane Trimis (Convention Parliamentarian), who helped the convention proceedings flow seamlessly. We thanked and were blessed to have special guests DOP Grand Treasurer 2017-2018 Kathy Bizoukas, DOP Grand Advisor Carrie Regopoulos, and Grand Governor of the MOA 2017-2018 Vasi Hatzopoulos. A special thank you was given to our outgoing Liaison and DOP Grand Governor Zone II Stella Sirks, PDG, who has served us faithfully but was assigned to attend another district event outside of Florida on our convention weekend. Congratulations to the newly elected officers of the Citrus District 2 Lodge, for 2018-2019, for which you can see their

names on the left sidebar of this newsletter. Some other awards and highlights were:

who sat at the Citrus District 2 “Beach themed” tables. It was a “good showing” of our district out of the 120+ total delegates voting. Most of the time, we served on various committees and gave input to some good decisions that were made, but sometimes we laughed and played and enjoyed the moments!

(Lt to rt: Marion Koliniatis, Kathy Ziegler, Bessie Adams, Dorothy Xanos, Nicky Stamoulis, Stella Sirks, Ourania Stephanides, Elizabeth Athanasakos, Sonja Stefanadis, Antonia Hyland, Judie Pappas, Eftyhia Kirkiles, Christina McGuirk at the Supreme Convention in Atlantic City, NJ).

“Up and Comin” Events

This is a quick snapshot of events as shared by your District Governor from chapters around the AHEPA Family District. It is not a complete set…just what are at the fingertips for right now. More events are to be posted within the next 2 weeks, so do not feel left out if you do not see your chapter’s info. You will see it within the next 2 weeks. Sisters are suggesting, “We want to see what is going on in ALL of the chapters of the District, in case we can attend, happen to be in the area, wish to support or donate, or can get details to share ideas.” This is an excellent suggestion! Chapter Presidents and/or corresponding secretaries, you are urged to please send your Chapter Calendars, photos, or flyers of events of your chapter to your District Governor at [email protected] to post in her monthly newsletter. The reason that this suggestion is being posted in this newsletter instead of only going to the chapter presidents and secretaries is to first of all, let you know that you are being heard and secondly, also to ask you as individual sisters and members of various committees of events, to help your chapter officers to promote the good things that you are doing.

From the Sons of Pericles and Maids of Athena. The Sons and Maids are in the planning process for a Fall 2018 Conference of the SOP and MOA, October 12-13-14. On Saturday, October 13, they will be assembling AS MANY PACKAGES as they can make for a volunteer project, which is creating small packages of specific supplies that are assembled in the United States and shipped to people in need in other parts of the world. The Emergency Kits program is administered by IOCC's longtime partner Church World Service (CWS). Please open the links below for the VERY SPECIFIC needs of their project. If you would like to contribute a donation or donate those items as individuals or as a chapter, it would be appreciated, in particular, the “washcloths”. Yes, it is THEIR (SOP and MOA) project but we may help with donations for the kits. Please contact me, DGov Ourania at 813.546.4711, if you have further questions after reading the information in the links:Here is the link from the IOCC website.
