Marnie Dex- ter has stepped into the position of Treasurer until the election at the AGM. She is willing to continue. She has done a good job and is learning as she goes. She did get to do a little with Shirley, but there was much that didn't get covered. We are in good financial health and all our bills are getting paid. It is getting colder which means that our flowers are fading. The trailer by the three sheds is there to put your dead flowers and shrubbery in for disposal. The trailer now belongs to AWANA and is available for use by the members once it is emptied. We are providing the insurance so that if there is an accident no member is out money when working on our behalf. When you empty the pots please spread the dirt that is not caught up in the roots onto the lawn or flower beds. Then once you have washed down your patios or walls as needed, drain your hoses so the they don't freeze and crack. Next, turn off you outside taps by clos- ing the valves under your kitchen and bathroom sinks. Once you have done that open the outside tap to drain the lines so that they don't freeze. Once ISSUE Oct., 2016 •39 w drained you can close the outside taps to pre- vent creatures from taking refuge from the cold. The lights in the carports have been up- graded to LED lights. These lights should last up to twenty years. It was getting hard to find the neon bulbs that went into the fixtures, so it was less expensive to change the fixtures and bulbs than to buy the neon bulbs. The globes have been stored to be used as replace- ments when needed. There is someone going through the complex in the early hours of the morning checking cars for open windows and unlocked doors. When they find them, the glove box and other compartments are rifled and anything of value stolen. So make sure you lock your vehicles and don't leave anything of value in plain site. So far there has been no broken windows but don't take the chance. If you get up in the night, take the time to look out your window. If you see something suspi- cions, call 911. The speed limit in the complex is 15 kph.. Some folks have been observed travelling at twice that. Please slow down. If you are hav- ing guests stay over, leave your suite number on the dash. As it is getting darker sooner make sure you close your quad entrance door and that the front and back lights are on. If you are going to be absent, make sure the members in your quad know and that some one is picking up your mail and papers.

ALL AROUND THE AWANA BUSH

It has been some time since the last Cryer hasgone out. And there has been so manychanges. We lost Henry Harder, LammertWesterhof, Shirley Garner and Victor Tho-mas. Jim and Dawna Goodwin have left totake up full time RVing. They plan to com-bine it with some kind of Missions work inthe spring of 2017. All these folks will besorely missed.But on the positive side there is a host of newmembers moving in. The Godfreys are finallyin, Brenda MacFarlane is aboutready. Bob and Marlene Krallare renovating #20 but aren"tquite ready to move in. Robertand Hazel Reimer will be mov-ing into #62 once Jack andChertyl Sharpe move into #61.Last but not least, Deloris Do-erksen will be moving into #50.As you meet these folks, besure to make their acquaint-ance and make them welcome.

thankful for at AWANA. No one had dif-ficulty finding ten things. Many lists wereread out. Some brought applause and oth-ers brought laughter. We do live in a greatplace. And the best way to get the mostout of living here is to get involved in thethings that are happening. Don't beafraid to pitch in to help. If you can't domuch we understand, but even beingthere is an encouragement to those morecapable.Thinking of getting involved, the fall sea-son of Canasta has just started. Everyone

is welcome and you don't haveto be good at cards to come. Ifyou don't know how to play wewill teach you. We start at 6:30Friday evening in the clubhouse, play one game, breakfor snacks and play a secondgame. Although there is a tro-phy, most folks just come forthe fun So don't be shy. Grab

Although these changes have created a lot ofwork and probably headaches for LawrenceLofgren, the folks who are moving in are mak-ing excellent upgrades to their suites. This willcontribute to the longevity of AWANA.Those folks who attended the Thanksgivingdinner at Cascades had a great time. The foodwas excellent and fun was had by all. Therewere stories about Halloween and Thanksgiv-ing that warmed the heart or caused muchlaughter. We were each given a piece of paperand had to write down ten things we were

not your forte then how about colouring.?There is a group who meet to fellowshipand colour in their books every secondWednesday at 10:00 AM. Some bringtheir lunch. If you don't colour you're wel-come to bring other crafts that you like todo.
