Additional Note Cards Designs
As discussed in the last edition of The Andersonian, The
Art Department, along with Kathleen M., is currently in
the process of developing a series of Note Cards that will
display student artwork. Over the last few weeks the stu-
dents have been creating “Snowmen” themed cards that you
see at the right.

2. Paint over entire paper with white tempera paint (see pic. #1 below)
3. Place “Snowmen” templates on newly painted paper (paint will hold
them on place).
4. Paint over entire paper (including “Snowmen” templates) with blue
tempera paint. (see pic. #2)
5. Remove “Snowmen” templates from painted paper. (see pic. #3)
Day 2: (Prep: Teacher cuts “Snowmen” paintings into 4x6” cards.)

Over the last weeks, in addition to the “Snowmen” cards,
students began creating “Winter Landscapes” using cool
colors (i.e. blue, purple, green).
The creation of these “Winter Landscapes” allowed stu-
dents to practice and reinforce most of the painting tech-
niques that they have learned over the past few months, in-
cluding shaped masking (clouds), crayon resist (sky/
snow), painting with alternative applicators (spray bot-
tle for snow) and stenciling (pine trees/house).
Materials: Tempera Paint, Masking Tape, Crayons, Liquefied Tempera Paint in Spray Bottle,
Drawing Paper, Pom-Poms, Glue, Newspaper, and Glitter,.
Techniques/Concepts: Crayon Resist, Masking, Stenciling, Collage, Coloring, Painting Using
Alternative Applicators (Spray Bottles), Painting Techniques (“Dabbing”), and “Cool Colors”.
