Donut

Shop

Project In the Art Room during the month of April students have been hard at work creating 3-

dimentional “donut” sculptures (Please see photos below).

Students created their donuts by rolling and coiling newspaper into the traditional donut shape

and using masking tape to hold it all together. After completing this step, students decoupaged

paper towels over their donuts using glue/water (2:1) and paintbrushes. For color, students ap-

plied tempera paint (brown, cream/tan, and pink). Later, students used a tempera paint/glue

mixture (2:1) to paint the tops of their donuts and make them look “frosted.” Sprinkles and

various other toppings were sprinkled over the still wet “frosting.” Toppings were made out of

various materials, including “Sprinkles” (cut multi-colored foam) and “Chocolate

Chunks” (shaved/cut brown crayon).

Lft: Ashley B. (Rm. 306)

stopped by the ACA to see John’s artwork, discuss his “Art Star” award and also his inclu-

sion in the “Young and Emerging Artist” art show. Thanks for stopping by!!

Photos of Art Room on Website I recently noticed that there are a few photographs of the students and staff of Room 110

hard at work in the Art Room displayed on the ACA Website (http://www.andersonschool.org).

These photos can be seen in the alternating banner at the top of the front page.

Also, I was also happy to hear from the parents of Sasha I. (Rm. 110), Johnny R. (Rm. 117)

and Christopher T. (Rm. 313). They sent me notes and called about their children's art work

being included in the “Young and Emerging Artist” show. It was great to hear from you!!
