Term 4 Week 2 Principals Message Dear Parents As I have previously mentioned all schools are currently preparing their next 3 Year Plan for 2012 2014. This involves gathering data and evidence from a variety of sources on which to base targets and strategies for the future to ensure continued growth for each individual student and for our whole school to continue to meet the needs of our community. Your input into this process will be sought in several different ways over the next couple of weeks: telephone surveys to randomly selected families, focus group workshop (followed by a sausage sizzle) on Tuesday, 8 th November commencing at 5.30pm. (This is also P&C evening) and our traditional annual survey to all families. Please consider what you would like to see for our school and our students over the next three years and beyond. Everyone is invited to attend the workshop which will be an opportunity to get your ideas down on paper. Please put the date in your diary. Today the graffiti removalist was on site and despite his best effort was not able to completely remove the red paint from our basketball court surface. It is extremely disappointing that our facilities have been damaged in this way and I would ask that you please report any unauthorised presence on school grounds to either Belmont Police on 49429899 or School Security on 1300880021. Best wishes to our fabulous band who have been working hard for today‟s Bandfest with Mrs Paget and Mrs Blake. Also our softball boys are off to Nabiac tomorrow and I‟m sure their hard work at training will pay off. Thank you for your support with the Coles vouchers and Woolworths dockets. While we don‟t as yet have totals I‟m sure that our school will benefit from the additional equipment which will come our way. A reminder also that from 2012 we will not be requesting the voluntary contribution. In its place there will be book packs containing each grade‟s requirements for purchase. More specific details will be available shortly. Application forms for the Enrichment classes for 2012 will also be available next week. Even if you are currently in the program you will need to re-apply. Nielsine Oxenford Principal TES FD***IMPORTANTES FOR YO

Principal’s Message Dear Parents As I have previously mentioned all schools are currently preparing their next 3 Year Plan for 2012 – 2014. Everyone is invited to attend the workshop which will be an opportunity to get your ideas down on paper. Please put the date in your diary. Positive Affirmation – Persistence

This week‟s affirmation is “I am willing to put in the hard work.” This affirmation is about

Quality.‟ It encourages us to work hard to achieve our goals. Everyday there are new things to learn

and it is important that we are prepared for the work that needs to be done in order to understand a

new concept or master a new skill. It is our willingness to work hard that serves us well.

From The Deputy

It was delightful to see so many eager faces at the Kindergarten Orientation last week. Stories were told in the

library, with our new students trying hard to remember to „put your hand up‟ when you answer a question.

In Mrs Barclay‟s room there was singing and movement activities and Mrs Sattler had her groups dancing up a

storm in the hall. The 2012 Kinders were so well behaved and settled in the program and look like they are ready

for school next year.

Once again

we hosted „Musica Viva‟ in our school. This is a quality music program that aims to teach children about making

music and in particular focuses on learning about different musical instruments and their role in a concert band.

The students had a lot of fun participating in making music and watching fabulous demonstrations. Mrs Paget

enjoys teaching the Musica Viva program to her students.

Best wishes to our band students who are off to participate in the Bandfest competition today at Warners Bay

Entertainment Centre. Our band has moved forward a category this year and we are proud of their efforts.

It‟s almost that time of year again...a busy term will fly by and soon Santa will be getting ready to visit us at our

annual Carols on the Green community Christmas celebration. This year it will be held on Wednesday 14th

December and it will be „on the green.‟ Pop this date in your diary and come along and enjoy a fabulous night of

carol singing and Christmas fun.

Year 5 are getting ready to head of The Great Aussie Bush Camp in week four and we are all looking forward to the

upcoming cricket workshops that will be held across the school over the coming two weeks.

Mums and dads and family members, don‟t forget to check out the Calendar Art on display outside your child‟s

classroom. The calendars and Christmas cards that can be produced using this artwork proves to be a wonderfully

personal Christmas gift that lifts the esteem of your child as they see their art valued in within the family.

Artwork from 5/6M.

Good luck to our boys softball team who will play Nabiac in the sixth round of the State Knock-out competition on

Thursday.

Library News Lexile Legend

This week‟s Lexile Legend is Esther Kim of 2/3J. Esther has a wonderful,

positive attitude toward Lexile and reading. She visits the library almost daily,

in her own time, and changes her books. Esther has read more than 30 books

in the 6 weeks she has been part of the Lexile Reading Program.

Congratulations Esther!

Overdue Books

It‟s getting to that time of year when all library books need to be accounted for. Unfortunately, there are currently

almost 400 books that are more than a month overdue. At present, we are not asking for money to replace missing

books but we are asking for your support in having students search for and return overdue and/or missing books.

Stocktake will get under way in the next few weeks and usually does help find books that may have been

mistakenly shelved before being returned. Unfortunately, for auditing purposes we can‟t just take a child‟s word that

appreciated.

Thank You

A huge personal thank you from Mrs Southward to the wonderful „library fairies‟ who have been shelving library

books. You are AMAZING!

Sport News Coles Sports Vouchers This valuable competition has now come to a close and families have until the Monday afternoon assembly of Week 3 to bring in their vouchers to use in the class competition. A weigh-off will be held at the whole school assembly to determine which class will receive the P&C sponsored prize of a vortex ball for each child. Thank you again to our wonderful community and P&C for the massive support this program has received. Last year it was used to supplement of sports budget and buy some much needed resources such as a gym mat trolley and infants novelty items. We hope to buy just as many fantastic pieces at the end of this year as well. Primary Summer Sport Primary sport began with a hit last Friday with nice weather and a trip in the „bendy-bus‟ for all students attending water sports. A reminder that all students who attend water sports need swimmers each week as these events will run even in the rain (although obviously not if there is any sign of lightning or if the weather is intolerable). If you have any queries regarding your child‟s sport please see Mr Kuchling. Cricket Workshops Floraville Public School has been fortunate enough to secure the services of In2Cricket in supplying a qualified cricket coach for three days. Infants children will each receive a 30 minute session while primary students will have 40 minute timeslots. Students will not need to bring along any equipment from home for these sessions as everything will be provided. If you have any queries please see Mr Kuchling. Ausgrid Coaching Clinic

On Wednesday 12th October, fifty Floraville students were invited to attend a one off special coaching clinic with the

2011 Australian Rugby League Team at Ausgrid stadium, Newcastle.

The afternoon was a fantastic experience for all students. All students recieved a tee shirt and where able to train,

play, talk to the players and get some much wanted autogragphs and pictures.

in a copy of any receipts from the store. We receive 1% commission for

If you are no longer able to volunteer in the school canteen or unable to volunteer on a particular day can you please notify Margaret as soon as you possibly can. On occasions people have just not turned up without informing Margaret. In these situations it is not always possible to get others to fill in at very short notice.
