We are delighted to welcome you to our first ever Festival of Learning in Malaysia, which presents an exciting opportunity to showcase the expertise of both our organisations and regions. Over the course of the next couple of days, we hope you will enjoy and engage with the diverse and interesting range of interactive sessions that will be co-delivered by staff and students of Bournemouth University, Cyberview and representatives from Malaysian and UK companies. We have developed an engaging and varied programme that will create and inspire unique opportunities for learning and collaboration that we can share here in Malaysia, back in Bournemouth and across the globe.
By taking Bournemouth University’s established Festival of Learning global, here in Malaysia, we are creating opportunities to further enhance and develop the partnerships between our organisations through education, research and the local, national and global communities and practice networks to which they are connected.
As a collaborative Global Tech Hub enabler, Cyberview passionately services the community through 3 key services:
Investor Relations Services, Industry Development Initiatives and Tech Hub Development and Management Services. It is therefore the perfect setting for BU – a top 500 international university – to launch the Festival of Learning in Malaysia.
We hope you have a truly enjoyable time across the two days and we look forward to meeting as many of you as we can in that time.

Keynote Perceptions can be deceiving. What turned a Victorian tourist resort into the UK’s fastest growing digital hub? Mr Matt Desmier, Director of Think Create Do, Bournemouth, UK
The quaint seaside resort of Bournemouth was recently named by TechCityUK, the UK Government-sanctioned body representing the growing digital economy, as the UK’s fastest-growing digital hub. This took an awful lot of people by surprise, but perhaps it shouldn’t have. In this enlightening talk, Matt Desmier will share what he believes are the three critical components that have helped rewrite the narrative associated with the town and which could, with careful consideration, be applied elsewhere to generate similar results.

Creative concepts – Generation and development strategies for scriptwriters Ms Kay Stonham – Bournemouth University, UK
Have you ever wondered how writers get their ideas, or if there is a way that you could be a writer? The truth is, ideas are only part of the story, once you have a great idea it needs to be developed properly to make sure it reaches its full potential, and this is where many writers go wrong, relying on inspiration and forgetting the importance of perspiration. Creative writing exercises and brainstorming techniques developed by Edward de Bono, Linda Aronson and Craig Batty are discussed in this session and used to help you begin to see how you could reliably generate and develop creative ideas of your own.
