Extensive technological innovations for the special requirements in the design and engi-neering process halve the time required for reverse engineering. You can choose wheth-er to reverse-engineer surfaces on the refer-ence object (digitized component), design freely in 3D or combine the two methods. Surface approximation lets you automatically
The Tebis Version 4.0 user interface is optimized for CAD/CAM workstations and meets modern visual and ergonomic demands. Users can individually and flexibly adjust the work environment to their specific requirements.
The interface is available in 11 languages and perfectly suited to global processes and international markets. Chinese, Japanese and Russian are now also supported in addition to the other languages.
You can organize and manage your Tebis configuration using Tebis Starter. This gives you central access to libraries, templates, animation, output and measuring devices, graphics settings, tool synchronization, DNC connections and the PDM server.
You can use Tebis to generate collision-tested NC programs for 4-axis wire EDM. Tebisuses the wire EDM functions of the integratedDCAMCUT Expert NC programming environment, the leading software on the market in this segment. All information is stored in the Tebis Job Manager. Wire EDM is available in the special package as a dedi-cated wire EDM workplace, including Tebis functions for geometry preparation. As an alternative, existing Tebis workstations can be supplemented with the 4-axis Wire EDM add-on.
Collision-tested NC programs for turningcan now be generated with completeintegration in Tebis. Extensive functionsare available for design, analysis and prepa-ration of components. NC templates enable you to generate NC programs essentially automatically.
Surface optimization - automatic: Check the quality of your surfaces with the click of a button. Tebis detects topological and geo-metric defects (such as risk areas, excessively segmented surfaces, gaps between adjacent surfaces) and offers automatic repair func-tions. This provides you advance warning of high-cost problems in subsequent geom-etry operations and lets you correct them automatically.
Improved design: A series of functions makes handling in surface design simpler and more convenient. For example, surfaces and topologies can be stamped with curves that can be used to structure the components and separate or split surfaces.
The graphical interface provides a clear and structured presentation of your Tebis installation: Here is where you can make changes and adjustments.
segment the surfaces and obtain smooth surfaces and perfect transitions. Transition selection enables the definition of transition qualities already on surface generation and detects kinks in the wire-frame and surface models. Edge and trim curves are automati-cally and precisely synchronized.
The new NCPrep function group formanufacturing preparation can be usedto generate curves for milling. The resulting guide curves are used to calculate path layouts. This simplifies control of the tool position relative to the component surface.
As a slope curve, it serves to divide the component into flat and steep areas. The curves are generated directly on the cutter offset surface and are thus independent of the projection direction of the guide curves in the machining functions.
Lathe is available in the special package as a complete workstation, including Tebis CAD functions. As an alternative, existing Tebis workstations can be supplemented with the Lathe add-on.

Version 4.0 uses two technologies toprevent full-width machining:
Full-width machining while retaining thepath layout: Tebis prevents full tool wrapby superimposing circular trochoidal move-ments on the path. The maximum contact is specified in the cutting data The software automatically adjusts the size of the circular movements in tight spots and corner areas.
Dynamic path layout with special calculation: The new adaptive roughing strategy – with large depth of cut and small lateral stepover for components with steep-sided cavities – adapts the path layout to the geometry,thus preventing full-width machining. This strategy is suitable for components

Lateral stepover is maintained in flat and steep areas. The result is a smoother surface and significant time savings in finishing and manual reworking. You also benefit from the increased service life of your tools, thanks to the uniform and optimal tool contact.
Small parts process: Manufacture small parts significantly faster and more reliably with standardized processes. Tebis combines active surfaces and solid data for individual parts to form exact solids. Components with built-in machining allowances such as joint gaps or sheet-metal thickness can be easily programmed and setup processes optimized with grid plates and multiple setup. You benefit from this solution when manu-facturing semi-finished products, castings,new products and reproductions.
Large parts process: New preparation func-tions enable you to automatically generate offset surfaces with smooth transitions (pressure areas) and clear standard radiias well as radius-like areas.
Free-form feature: The free-form feature significantly improves the automation of prismatic machining. A scanning step detects component areas such as planarsurfaces, contour surfaces, vertical surfacesor component surfaces and generates corresponding features. The machining information can then be retrieved from the features, enabling the definition of standardized variable machining sequences (NCSet).
Standard geometry features: The tried and proven ruled-form feature (standard geo-metry) has been supplemented with auto-mating and accelerating functions.

Costs per small part
Robots: Cost-effective and space-saving 6-axis articulated robots are now fully inte-grated in the Tebis CAD/CAM environment and in the Job Manager. Software for sub-sequent robot simulation is not necessary. Off-line programming is more flexible than teaching the robot and ensures standard-ization. The robot solution in Tebis version 4.0 creates collision-protected toolpaths. Singularities are automatically prevented. Additional functions enable trouble-free 5-sided machining as well as simple robot setup.
Machine: The machine collision check can be run in the background, enabling programmers to continue working while the check is running – similar to NC calculation running in the background.
