TARGET AUDIENCE JOSHUA PEDRO

INTRODUCTION

In this PowerPoint, I will be talking about I will be talking about our target audience for our thriller opening “Hidden”. I will be talking about why and how are particular thriller actually targets our particular target audience

DOMINANT REPRESENTATION • When people think of teenagers, the normal stereotypical thought that people have is that they are:

• Dangerous

• Violent

• Abusive

• Un-controllable

• Arrogant

MY REPRESENTATION

• Although as mentioned in the previous slide, the normal connotations of teenagers are negative. But my representation of teenagers is that there mind-set and thought process is completely different the normal throughout process that you would expect. My particular representation heavily influenced the way that we targeted and made our thriller opening.

• The reason why I believe this is because, during this time period , the average teenager is seeing things differently and looking at things that adults and children will look at from different perspectives

CLASS

• The class represented in our thriller opening where middle class. This was shown via the attire that both characters wore throughout the thriller opening. The reason why we made the characters in our thriller opening seem as if they are middle class is because according to research, the majority that watch independent movies such as ours are middle class.

STEREOTYPE

Clearly evident in our thriller opening is the stereotypical view in the way in which males and females are presented. This is shown via the status that both characters have. The girl in the thriller opening has the status of being vulnerable and being physically weak, whereas the man has the status of being strong physically.

Another way in which we showed this was via the camera angles that where used to shoot the characters . Whenever the girl was in the scene a high angle shot looking down on the girl was used, whereas whenever the ,man was in the scene, the shot used was a long distant shot. This portrayed him as a strong mysterious man.
