Setcom designed its System 900 to meet the requirements of structural fire apparatus. From its original design, the System 900 has expanded into a family of intercoms that can accommodate up to ten crewmembers with as many as six active radio push-to-talk (PTT) positions. With a radio select module, crewmembers can monitor up to three radios and transmit on a selected frequency.
Setcom’s most versatile intercom, the System 900 is ideal for many applications including industrial trucks, SWAT vans and EMS
vehicles, to mention a few.
headset systems now available.
While it is not practical to show every possible configuration, browsing through this package of illustrative diagrams will give you a good overview of the System 900's capabilities. If you don’t see
a configuration that meets your needs, please contact us:

NOTE! These two ports are in parallel. This means that a headset
should not be plugged into both ports at the same time. Doing so
will double load the transmit circuit and may significantly reduce the transmit signal level. Plugging in headsets as shown will prevent
any problem. (For vehicles requiring more than two radio
transmit circuits, use an IM-900E with four independent radio
transmit circuits)

Our Jumpseat Distribution Box provides cable for six jumpseat positions and a tailboard station. The radio (RF) deck, master station (IM-900) and jumpseat distribution box (JSDB-962) can all be placed under a seat (or in some other location) creating precious space for other equipment.

tailboard station, along with the 25-0689 cable, it allows a crewmember to more easily assist the driver in backing up.
The JSDB-962-10-30 provides a 10 ft terminated cable to the master station
(IM-900) and 30 ft unterminated cables to each
of the jumpseat station jacks.
The individual jack-in points provided by
the JSDB-962 allow for the use of all left dress headsets for

System 900Helmet Kits
Setcom is an industry leader in the design and manufacture of helmet communication kits. Our helmet communications systems have been used in military Humvees, tanks, air boats, and other crewed vehicles where safety requires a helmet. Some versions allow a crewmember to plug either into the System 900 intercom or into a portable radio, for use outside the vehicle.

System 900Radio Select Modules
Optional RSMs
Standard RSM The Radio Select Module (RSM) switches the microphone and push-to-talk (PTT) lines allowing the operator to monitor all radios and transmit on the selected radio. If two radios have the same microphone level, as in the example, the RSM passes through the microphone signal unchanged. If two radios have different microphone levels, the 900 master station (IM-900) will be set for the higher microphone level on the “A” position and the lower level on the “B” position. This will add a dash number to the part number: RSM-902-1, for example. Any of Setcom’s account executives can help in selecting the correct RSM if an application requires radios with different microphone levels (e.g. a Motorola and a Kenwood).

PTT Options
Standard PTT
By far the most popular of the radio push-to-talk (PTT) methods is the standard button-in-cup. Headsets with a black button are radio transmit. Headsets with a red button are intercom push-to-talk.
In addition to the button-in-cup, a single footswitch for the driver or officer is available. A dual footswitch option is also available. One footswitch keys the driver’s position and the other will key the officer’s, both through the single footswitch port on the master station. Headset PTT remains active when footswitches are present.

Marine Installations The Icom M-302, M-502 and M-602 are popular marine radios, but like many marine radios they are sealed and do not allow for accessories, such as intercoms. If you purchase a Setcom intercom system, you can send your radio to us, and as part of your order we will configure your radio with a weatherproof microphone adapter cable (MAC) as detailed below.
Hand mic is removed from the Icom coil cord which is used to attach Setcom’s MAC.
Setcom’s microphone adapter cable (MAC) for Icom marine radios comes with a booted toggle allowing you to switch
between the hand microphone and the Setcom system.
Icom hand mic is fitted with a Setcom coil cord and waterproof connector and then plugged into the radio circuit through the microphone adapter cable (MAC).
When your radio and intercom system are sent to you, they are plug ‘n play!
