In this the seventh year of the FinTech 100, the global economy continues to sputter, and yet we again saw the top 100 financial technology firms grow their revenues, albeit at a paltry pace. In 2009, FinTech 100 companies pulled in $53.0 billion in revenue from financial services clients, compared to revenues of $52.8

billion in 2008.

IDC Financial Insights relied on a number of sources to gather the data used in the seventh edition of the FinTech 100 and Enterprise 25 surveys. IDC developed estimates of eligible calendar year 2009 revenue, which consists of revenue generated from sales of qualifying products and services to the financial services industry.

2009Syntel was the top ranked global outsourcing company named to the 2009 edition of Fortune Magazine's "100 Fastest-Growing Companies" list, which evaluates companies on the basis of growth in revenue, profit and total return to investors.

The Global Services 100 is an effort to recognize and celebrate service provider excellence. It enlists service providers who possess the maturity to deliver high standard services in IT and BPO using the global delivery model. The GS100 service providers possess many other attributes that lead to market leadership and the study is intended to take a closer look at these.

The DQ 50Given the recession, Syntel would surely deserve an A rating. The topline growth might not have been spectacular, but net income increased by 37%, while operating margins expanded to 30% from 24%.

The contribution from Applications Outsourcing increased from 67% to 73% at the expense of both KPO (down from 20% to 18%) and e-business (from 11% to 7%). This implied a significant increase in the offshore component which stood at more than 80% for FY10. The ability to convert many of its time & material deals to fixed price ones (44% of revenues) as well as generating 70% revenues from annuity based ADM contracts also paid off.
