ABUSE: HOW TO RECOGNIZE • Abuse – Any action that intentionally harms or injures another person. Also, a pattern of

behaviors used to manipulate or control another person. • Abuse can be emotional, mental, physical, or sexual in nature. • Motive is power and control • Damages a person’s dignity and sense of self worth

ABUSE: HOW TO HELP • Listen / verbalize • This isn’t okay; it doesn’t please or glorify God • This isn’t your fault or your responsibility to “fix” • We love you. Will you let us help you?

ABUSE: HOW TO COACH LEADERS • Requires a marathon mentality; not a sprint • Goal is for her to take the next faithful step • Include Godly men on the team • Develop a plan of care for team / safety plan for her
