What is Civi?

CiviCRM is an open source and freely downloadable constituent relationship management solution. CiviCRM is web-based, open source, internationalized, and designed specifically to meet the needs of advocacy, non-profit and non-governmental groups.

CiviCRM is a system that allows Collaboratory members to record and manage information about their contacts, supporters and donors.

Why do we use it?

Individuals, families and friends of the Collaboratory members are able to provide donations to the Collaboratory – either specific projects or site teams, or for general use.

Now what?

• Each year at the beginning of the semester, Collaboratory members are required to have at least 10 contacts in their Civi account.

• Collaboratory members on site teams

must have 50 contacts in their Civi account by the date determined by Site Team Advisor.

Logging in

• Your username and password should be the same as MC2

• Let us know if you don’t have a log in or can’t remember your password

Adding New Contacts

• Click New Individual and then STOP!!

If you bump the Enter key while filling in contact info, it will save and return to the main page.

You can only edit contacts tagged to yourself, so if you hadn’t got down to tagging your contact yet, that means you can’t find your own contact to finish editing them

Furthermore, if one of your contacts donates money to the Collaboratory, it won’t be allotted to your project if the contact wasn’t tagged to you and your group!

Some Useful Tips

• If you leave the quick search box empty and do a search, it will show you all of your contacts

• At the bottom, you can edit your account info, including changing your password

• If you lose a contact because you forget to tag it, email [email protected]
